Just starting a new thread on Juan's orders. She'll be back when she feels up to it.

Thinking of her on Sunday/Monday as always.

Ah, DS got restless just as I tried to settle, so got the sleep balm out and he did calm down.

Going to go and shower and get dressed. 8am start...

Have a lovely day all of you. Thinking of you all.

Just a quick hello to everyone.
Boys were back Sunday midday, sounds like they had a good holiday but ds2 missed me and lots of hugs - think ds1 was saving those for his girlfriend although he did give me a hug too.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 01/08/2017 08:21

Hang on in there and take all the cuddles you can get!

Morning all
early start Cake ..
Chasing hugs at any age are a total joy , but shows how important you are to them in a non verbal way :) Take care .
Well, not quite sure what is happening today - need to go and do a bit of an essentials shop - milk, eggs, fruit and stuff. Maybe an hour at the allotment.
Then it depends on weather and DH - it is supposed to be thundery showers this afternoon ...we have a couple of jobs lined up with ladders- cleaning gutters , and other basic outdoor maintenance stuff . So first I need to see how DH is - he's not been too good recently but that doesn't tend to stop him if he feels it must be done.
Have a good day all

Willow2017 · 01/08/2017 10:45

Morning all
Raining all morning so have not gone anywhere but Sun is out now so might risk trip out. If it's to wet in ed we can go to the museum.

Need a kick to get showered and ready😀

Another fan of cuddles here ds2 is very cuddly he is very tactile full stop will happily walk down street arm around me, long may it continue.
ds1 will give them when asked (and I ask every day😀) Trying to instill into them that showing you love someone is ok and whatever their age they are still my babies and always will be. He especially loves it (not) when he is gaming online with his mates and I pounce😀

cake glad the sleep balm is helping.

Have a good day folks.

JaneJeffer · 01/08/2017 17:16

Hi all, lost the thread again!

Happy Yorkshire Day book whatever that entails Grin and I hope you had a good birthday the other day.

The weather is very mixed here but when the sun comes out it's lovely.

I love a good hug. We never got them growing up. DS2 is still a hugger at 12 and also loves a dance around the kitchen with me! DS1 is much more reserved.

bookbook · 01/08/2017 19:11

Evening all
Cake - hope you survived :)
thank you Jane - we basically spend the day being smug about being in Yorkshire I think Grin
Hope you had a good day in the end Willow
well, have been rather busy in the end. The weather and DH made the decision. The outside maintenance was at DD's house ( long story involving changing jobs, negative equity and it being rented out for the last 4 years) .So have been cleaning the roof of the conservatory with a telescopic brush , ladders and chucking buckets of water out of the bedroom windows , sorting out the little garden, and DH mending the lock on the French doors. Going around and making a list of all the things that need to be sorted before it goes up for sale. Mostly decorative stuff , easy enough.
So quite weary tonight. I think a hot bath beckons.....
Hope everyone has a good evening

Willow2017 · 01/08/2017 20:16

Evening all.

Ever get the feeling that when you have a good time you have to pay for it?

At station and txt ds1 to check in and there had been a bit of a disaster in the cupboard under the stairs! I'm of the bleeding elderflower cordial bottles had burst and spewed cordial everywhere! He sent photos of the carnage and him with a bowl of water cleaning up. Bless him he emptied everything affected out and washed it before we got home and I took over. I have a huge bag of electrical cables from various devices and its in there too!!! Think I might just have a clear out 😀 never making that again that's the 2nd time that's happened to a glass bottle!!

Museum was fun but didn't get long enough to see the Egyptian burial stuff as couldn't find it😀😀

Was hoping for a quiet night as off visiting tomorrow oh well so much for that idea😀

book busy as ever do you ever stop?

Willow2017 · 01/08/2017 20:18

One of the not i'm
Didn't get long enough in the burial exhibit.

bookbook · 01/08/2017 21:01

argh Willow - it 's life isn't it? The elderflower is doomed it seems !
But what a little joy that DS1 stepped up to sort it for you :)
Little story - Many, many years ago we took up making wine . The first time we did it properly ( not a kit) , we went and picked a great big plastic dustbinful of elderberries. I had the book, the glass demijohns, the lot, and full of joy, made a batch - - two demijohns full ( must have been pounds of the berries, total idiocy!) ) . Put them to warm on either side of my fireplace . It was doing really well, until one morning I got up, and the cork and airlock had blown out of one of them and hit the ceiling - purple stains all up the wall, and all over my virtually brand new pale green Wilton carpet .... I had to split the other demijohn into two, and carried on. I still have a couple of bottles left ( weirdly, it is like amazing vintage port now , so the '78 vintage was good!)

YourselfOrSomeoneLikeYou · 01/08/2017 21:21

Oh no, these stories make me think of when my mum put beetroot in the pressure cooker back in the 80s. Took the steamy thing off and it whooshed out purple steam all onto the ceiling!

I have indeed survived as well as doing a webinar this evening to show CPD. Also have my first aid booked for October - 4 nights of 7-10 relearning it all, but of course so important.

Had a reply from juan and sent all your love. She says today wasn't a great day, but hoping the holiday will help.

In terms of self care, today it mainly involved eating biscuits, but also put a happy picture from our holiday as wallpaper on my phone.

willow it could be the sleep balm or the nasal spray I don't care as long as it works will be reviewed and might need appt with ENT to see what's causing it.

Quick question to all the wise ones....does the broody feeling ever go away??? Blush saw lots of newborns and smalls yesterday! Bloody hormones Hmm

Anyone heard from somer or unborn ? They can't have long left to go!

Waves jane glad you found us again. How are things?

Night night x

SelenaValentina · 01/08/2017 21:50

Gosh, I remember making wine years and years ago - then it caught on, everything rocketed in price and somehow didn't taste as good either! Had a few mishaps and near explosions which of course were all my fault according to exDH!

I'm still waiting for the heating mechanical bloke to get back to me before the great kitchen makeover madness can begin. I am clearing out decades of junk/important stuff and chaps at the tip beginning to recognise me Blush, so perhaps delay no bad thing as gives me bit longer to sort. Sighs as there's still loads to do but if the start was imminent I could just chuck everything, which would be easier.

Off to Trafford Centre tomorrow late afternoon to (drink coffee/eat) look at fridge-freezers, ovens, hobs and such interesting things at John Lewis though probably buy online, then spend vouchers before they expire at MandS.

Cheers to everyone, hope Juan soon feeling brighter.

JaneJeffer · 01/08/2017 22:37

Hi Cake I remember having to use a pressure cooker at school and it used to terrify me and it didn't seem any quicker than boiling something in a saucepan. I'm good today. Had a bad weekend with IBS but I'm not sure if it wasn't a bug as DS1 was also feeling dodgy but then he had been out drinking! DM was still being off with me but I did her shopping anyway. DF had a fall and that shook him up a bit. It's a stressful situation and I'm sure it doesn't help my health but unfortunately that's how things are! Glad you're getting some better sleep.

Willow you make me laugh. You seem such a positive person Grin

Selena I'd love a new kitchen but the thought of all the work involved puts me off. Just as well we can't afford it at the moment! My oven is over 18 years old and used almost every day. I don't know how it keeps going!

Good to hear from Juan, hope the holiday goes well.

Willow2017 · 01/08/2017 22:39

Cake I dont care either which one it is either Smile, as long as something is working for little un. No I dont think it does, I still look at babies and go "awww" but once you remember the sleepless nights and the nappies full of nuclear waste, and the crying etc you think better of it Smile

Well all thats left is the kitchen floor to wash (probably more than once!) Its totally sticky! I also discovered another bit of the cupboard it managed to get to so had more stuff to wash. Left the bag of electrical stuff outside on the step and brought it in for the night then saw the big wet patch on the step... out it went to the shed! NOT doing that tonight. Having a small glass of wine before I face the kitchen floor!

All the wine disasters!! Book must have been heartbreaking. Made some myself back in the day, was never that good! My aunt made some that would take the skin of your throat, it was potent stuff!

Selena I really need to do the kitchen declutter again too but all the stuff has a purpose, and it never fails if I throw something out I need it within days!

Willow2017 · 01/08/2017 22:41

Still cant get this thread to go on 'watch' whatever device I use!

Are you lot trying to tell me something?

Horsemad · 01/08/2017 22:41

Willow, sorry about the cordial - what a pain but your lad sounds a good 'un helping with it.

I have some relatives who make alcoholic beverages out of all sorts from their garden. Marrow whisky anyone?!
Ridiculously potent stuff Grin

I had a good day at work today - lots to do but it stops me getting bored.

Selena, enjoy your shopping expedition. All those gadgety things!

Cake re the broodiness question - in my case the answer is No, it never really goes away!
I still get broody and I am waaay too old for childbearing now, lol.

Mind you, I get broody over kittens, puppies, foals too Grin I'm just broody full stop!

DramaAlpaca · 01/08/2017 23:02

Well you've all been busy!

I've had a good day at work too, but still lots to do before I have my week off.

I'm laughing at the pressure cooker disasters. My mum had one in the 70s with a big weight on the lid, which one day managed to blow off and launch itself into the air. It hit the ceiling, making a dent which is there to this day, but fortunately didn't hit anyone on the way down.

As for whether the broody feeling goes away - in my case yes it did, thank goodness. But I agree with Horsemad, I do get very broody over cute baby animals. I melt at the sight of a kitten or a puppy.

bookbook · 01/08/2017 23:14

Evening again
Just popping back before turning in.
Cake - ENT sounds like a good plan ( DGS had his tonsils and adenoids taken out when he was just over 2 - made a vast difference to him, including much, much better sleep) . Beetroot juice gets everywhere - I boil some up most weeks .
Willow - washing floors at this time of night arghhh! you certainly deserve the Wine - not sure about the on watch thing - I'm using a laptop, not a phone , and its okay for me.
Selena - I think wine making was a very '70's thing - it was expensive to buy in those days ( ah the memories of Lutomer Reisling ,Mateus Rose and Blue Nun ......Grin ) . I do like to look through JL - they always have a reasonable selection of white goods, so enjoy . It's tough chucking out things though , its all decisions about what will be useful.
Jane - that is sounding tough on you, and stress really doesn't help with IBS , whatever the cause . Older parents are a worry, and it must be even harder if you have problems with your DM ,( less sympathy so more aggravation I'm betting.). I still use a pressure cooker - love it!
Horse my DF used to make potent stuff too !
ooh Somer and Unborn - yes, must be near time
poor Juan - its a very tough path she is treading . I hope she comes to some peace soon.
Well, sleep tight all
Thoughts and Prayers xx

Willow2017 · 02/08/2017 00:08

Book even on my pc it doesnt work! I am getting a complex Grin

bookbook · 02/08/2017 08:35

Morning all
Willow - is it worth looking in customise, could something be ticked/unticked ? (not techy here ...)
Drama - missed your post !
I never was very broody, and had horrible morning sickness with both which rather coloured my thoughts on the subject anyway. Now I can enjoy the babies, and give them back :)
Sun out and just gearing up to get dressed . Have to hang washing out, then off to the allotment while the sun is shining .
Making chutney and some soup this afternoon
Not sure what else is happening today
have a good day all

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 02/08/2017 11:12

I was very ill both times and had a terribly long labour with DD vs quick and natural with DS but I'd do it all again and I still don't get sleep!

We've been to soft play and I had the biggest hot chocolate and a triple chocolate muffin! Blaming the hormones.

Hope that floor is not sticky now Willow.

Have a good day all of you!

Chasingsquirrels · 02/08/2017 16:10

I wanted 3 (after I'd had the 1st - before that I wanted 2). Ex didn't want a 2nd but agreed.
John and I talked about it, but he was over 50 when we got together and I was nearly 40. I can't say we were particularly careful so it could have happened but we weren't actively trying. In retrospect I'm probably glad we didn't.
Not been broody since ds2.

I booked a holiday in the end last Friday night - a week all inclusive in Kos.

DramaAlpaca · 02/08/2017 16:52

Chasing a week in Kos sounds like bliss. That's where DH & I spent our first holiday together, a few months after we got together so it would've been 1988. Gosh, a very long time ago, it's probably changed completely.

So stressed at work today, so much to do and not enough hours in the day, compounded by a power cut that put us out of action for two hours so I have even more of a backlog I really, really need my week off next week.

YourselfOrSomeoneLikeYou · 02/08/2017 18:13

Hey, glad to hear you've sorted a break. I'm hoping you will get a chance to rest and recharge a bit.

DH was 46 by the time DS came along and he had resigned himself to it never happening for him.

After today with the most 2 year-ey 2 year old you can imagine, I'm ready to have my womb ripped out Wink I got through the day with so much junk (sugar). I might escape tomorrow afternoon for a quiet walk or something to just get some head space.

Hope it is wine Wednesday for you drama and that you have a better day tomorrow.

Love to all x

bookbook · 02/08/2017 18:37

Evening all
oooh a holiday in Kos sounds lovely Chasing

Drama thats the only trouble with holidays isn't it - I found you worked twice as hard before you went, and then twice as hard when you got back . It was a more hot and romantic holiday than DH and I first went on - a weekend at a B&B going rambling ( we were skint , as all money was going on first house and wedding)
Cake - the 2 year old did the work on the broodiness then. It's bad enough when they are yours, but other peoples - where do you get the patience? Nice walk sounds good.
Just sat down for a while - had a busy morning at the allotment, and the afternoon seems to have got away with me - I need to go finish chopping and dicing apples and tomatoes for the chutney , and then it can cook while I have a sit down .
Has Willow lost us again? >> !
Have a good evening all , off to get that chutney done, then a cup of tea and crotchet :)
