Just starting a new thread on Juan's orders. She'll be back when she feels up to it.

Thinking of her on Sunday/Monday as always.

Evening all.

Visiting today so just catching up now. Been out for lunch kids got worlds biggest puddings and we brought 3/4 of them home!

At garden centre and for some plants (there's a surprise 😀)
Beem nibbling my aunt's home made coffee and walnut buns and shortbread all day.

Don't want to face the drive home that floor will still be sticky😐

Have a nice evening all.

Willow2017 · 02/08/2017 19:50

And got some plants!!
I changed it twice and it still came up 'for'

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 02/08/2017 20:49

Not just me who has been a piggy then Willow Wink oink

It's just about putting a roof over my head book If anything it's a bit easier to detach if they're not yours.

I'm off to bed now. Horrible AF and just feeling drained.

Wine did someone mention Wine Wednesday? Grin I'm in!

Today I had a pre op assessment. Our NHS is fab, despite the immense pressures it is under. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience but I know it's not the same for everyone, sadly.
Anyway, I'm good to go, just need a date now, which will most likely be in the next month.
Scary times, but there are people worse off than me, which is my mantra at the moment.

My main concern is getting the point across to the menfolk that I will have to rest up after the op - they are too used to me doing far more than I should.

Yes, I've made a rod for my own back...

Still, they're not too old to learn that I need looking after for a few weeks! Grin

Chasing, I'd rather be going to Kos!

Drama, not long until your break, you will have a lovely time.

Willow, those coffee and walnut buns sound divine Smile

book, you sound very industrious, chutney, home made soup - I love homemade lentil soup, my fave winter lunch Smile

DramaAlpaca · 02/08/2017 22:46

Horsemad hope you are OK and that the op goes well. Get those menfolk of yours in training right now for helping out afterwards.

Did somebody say Wine Wednesday? Wine Grin

Willow2017 · 02/08/2017 22:47

Evening all
Willow sounds like my sort of day :)
Cake - that is true about being able to detach - poor you - hope tomorrow is better
Horse - that sound stressful , waiting for the call up. Yes, they are truly wonderful , the workers of the NHS . Make the menfolk a work rota , and be strict, if you are not supposed to not to do it, don't. It may just be the start of a revolution :) I make a lot of soup , but it varies all the time , as it all rests on what I have harvested!
Chutney has just finished - took a bit longer to reduce than I expected. Just need to let it cool a bit before its bottled up, then bed for me .
Sleep tight all .
Thoughts and Prayers x

bookbook · 02/08/2017 22:58

x post - so busy in and out of the kitchen checking on the chutney while writing this post that Drama has reminded me of Wine and Willow - just wow! and I love a sausage butty :)
Night all !

Willow2017 · 02/08/2017 23:59

horsehope you get an appointment pda and all goes well. Definitely make everyone aware you are not doing anything you shouldn't and they have to step up and do it all themselves.

book I love home made soup but I am not very adventurous just veg/potato. But not a fan of chutney.

Oh and found something I missed in the sticky cupboard! I will have to do floors again tomorrow oh joy.

bookbook · 03/08/2017 09:50

Morning all
very breezy and grey here - looks like we are due more rain.
Nothing exciting happening, just housework, make a casserole and get some shopping done. DD1 is due back from holiday tomorrow morning . DH is picking them up after a long day travelling, so am sorting some basics to stock the fridge for them .
Selena - did the trip to Trafford centre yield info on white goods?
So - to the work face I go ... :)
Hope everyone is okay and has a good day

SelenaValentina · 03/08/2017 09:52

Yes horse and extend the time too - no lifting for 1 week = 2 weeks sort of thing!

Heating man came yesterday, like a whirlwind! - luckily kitchen man appeared so they could have their technical confab. This is where I'll miss DH big style, even though things did go through one ear and out the other Blush. All do-able, at a price no doubt, but needs doing so let's hope the mess doesn't go on too long.

Had a good mooch round John Lewis yesterday too and I'm probably more on track re kitchen appliances. (trying to convince self really).

Off out with friend soon for breakfast and natter. She's known DH longer than me so no doubt tears and laughter.

I've been given a 'new to me' laptop by DS. It does strange things like suddenly enlarge the font but won't scroll down - think I'll be getting a new one that does almost what I tell it.

Willow2017 · 03/08/2017 11:36

Morning

Bucketing rain this morning but Sun is out now so got wash on (sticky stuff from cupboard!) Am gearing up to tackle mess in kitchen and redo cupboard floor.

Need to attack the Hoover again to get it working. I need to order another filter cos if I dont wash it after using it about twice it just doesn't work. When it works it is fab but don't know if its worth all the hassle.

Need to get back on the trail of cookers too😀

Willow2017 · 03/08/2017 13:09

Scratch that apparently the monsoons are holidaying in Scotland this year. I am considering how difficult it is to build a boat😀

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 03/08/2017 14:07

Hello

I'm glad you had a good look round Selena I also have not a technical bone in my body so do rely on DH for car/maintenance/DIY.

I've had a small and dad for settling in this morning, so had the whole downstairs cleaned and tidy by 10 and they were here till just before 12. He's coming to play for 4 days while parents are down here for work.

Other than that, we've just done some baking and the boys have been out to buy paint.

Making risotto tonight (oven baked one, so not too arduous).

Hope you all enjoyed your wine last night! Today has been all about chocolate, cheese toasties and now cake Smile

Afternoon all
Selena - I hate getting new to me stuff- I am the one who gets the phone when a new one is bought ( cheapskate me!) so at least I have someone to show me what to do. I then have to take off all the bits /apps /add ons on , so it goes back to being a phone, with a camera .... :). - does the laptop scroll up instead of down ? - mine and DH's go one way, everyone else's goes the other ...
oh Willow - sticky just gets everywhere doesn't it . Monsoon rain here too in short bursts , got caught in one while out shopping. Our last but one cooker we got from one of the big shops selling seconds on line - it had a long, but not dee scratch down the side ( which you couldn't see) and got £50 off . Still had a guarantee - may be worth a look ?
Right casserole is in the oven, cooking for tea. Just about to go and whip up some mini pavlovas ready for the eton mess tomorrow ( I prefer pavlova to meringue) and then making a vat of custard to put on the top of raspberries and jelly in a humungous party trifle ( I hate the 'keep on stirring until cold, so it doesn't get a skin- it's so boring ...) .

bookbook · 03/08/2017 14:16

oooh cheese toasties - I love those Cake :)

SelenaValentina · 03/08/2017 14:39

book I was told to put 2 fingers on the touchpad thingy and move them up and down. Hello, I've been doing that on my old one for years and I know how it works.

This one doesn't. DS is here later so he can deal with it ..... whilst I say loudly I WANT A NEW ONE.

Went 12 miles down the road for brunch with friend - pouring. Came back home, been no rain, all dry (apart from my lawn) and bright sun! Think I'll do half an hour of kitchen sorting. Maybe.

Hope everyone's day going well.

Willow2017 · 03/08/2017 15:17

Stopping for a bite of lunch and escape out the cupboard 😀
Decided seeing I was rewashing it I can just declutter as well. Bin bag filling up!

book thanks will look into that.

cake nothing wrong with cheese toastie and cake 😉

No cooking tea for me I can hardly see it for stuff!

bookbook · 03/08/2017 20:06

Evening all
Just about to settle down to crotchet for the evening .
Selena - its a bit annoying , isn't it - female and old , you must not know how things work. I know I have been retired for two years now, but I was up to date with computers up to then, I still know more than a lot of casual users, because I had to be for my other job! Probably a bit out of the loop now, but hey, I am not stupid ! :)
Willow - that cupboard will be a thing of joy!
I had a nice sit down while cooking/baking. My old recipe files were falling to bits and crammed, so for Christmas my DD2 made three new customised file holders for me, so have started to sort out my recipes into order .I am nearly half way through, and I am chucking out the recipes I don't like !! Grin I have never, ever done that before

Have a good evening all

Willow2017 · 03/08/2017 20:22

Book it certainly is! Have put a full bin bag of stuff out! Got rid of lots of crafty cm stuff I never use now and birthday clelebration stuff as kids are too old, paints, and anything else I dont use for cm now plus went through my plastic food boxes. Had empty drawers! I could get stuff off the shelves out of sight!
Sat on step wiping down electrical flexes and chargers and only kept what I know I will use and binned a bag of them! Probably ££ worth but I never use any of them so why keep them?

Still sticking to kitchen floor Grin but will get there. Have to feed kids first.

I need to go through my recipie folder too, its just the thought! Well done for being ruthless Book.

I can get by with technology to do what I need to do but ds1 is much better at it (although he thinks I know nothing!)

Oh and apparently my extensive life experiences working with the public and my qualifications dont stand me in good stead to work in a charity shop! I wouldnt mind but I go in that one regularly and see how many staff come and go! Just feeling over the hill Sad (although most of the staff are older than me!)

Have a good evening all.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 03/08/2017 20:25

Oh dear willow so demoralising.

OP posts:
Willow2017 · 03/08/2017 20:42

Yeah I fixed the problem!
Nya nya nya ds1, who said I was rubbish at tech? Grin

SelenaValentina · 03/08/2017 20:57

It's our bin day tomorrow and am going round filling up the neighbours' as mine's been full since last week! They do know and are happy about it, they say. I started to knock things over, spilt my drink etc so decided time to finish sorting for tonight. Does feel good to whizz or recycle things though, don't you think? The lovely clear space seems to fill up all too quickly though, or is that just me?

Apparently it's my fingers that are the problem for scrolling. Hmm My theory is that decades of typing have worn off most of fingerprints - can't do fingerprint security on phone or former laptop. But scrolling worked on my old chromebook! Grrrr.

Willow2017 · 03/08/2017 21:05

Selena Well how blooming awkward of you to not have the fight fingers! How rude when someone gives you something (thats obviously not working) that needs 'the right fingers' to be so inconsiderate Grin

I am going to be vigilant and not let the cupboard fill up again....its just not!

Waiting on ds1 doing the dishes so I can finish up and do the floor......not holding my breath.

Willow2017 · 03/08/2017 21:06

RIGHT fingers not fight!!!!!
