Just starting a new thread on Juan's orders. She'll be back when she feels up to it.

Thinking of her on Sunday/Monday as always.

Old hoodie fgs!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 17/09/2017 19:51

Hello all

We had a busier day today. Was out for a few hours, got the shopping in, made biscuits for lunch box/after school, tea/homework etc and ready for the Monday.

Sorry that you missed out on your NT meet Squirrel that's a shame. Hope you managed to do something for yourself.

Willow I think our brains try to remember so much that we don't always get everything right. That's OK though. I'm sure we need to set an example that we're only human Wink

book that sounds like fun to order lots of crafty stuff - a bit like me and baking Grin love getting new stuff but reign myself in a lot because there are only so many cake tins etc that'll fit into the house.

Gosh, forecast for tomorrow is pretty chilly!

Horsemad · 17/09/2017 20:27

Our weather was similar to yours chasing, misty this morning & very showery this afternoon. Shame you had to cancel your plans.

DS2 & I went shopping (for the last time before he heads off to uni), my bank balance will be glad to see him go!

Back to work tomorrow, the weekend has gone quickly. Hope my boss has had a good weekend, else everyone will know about it.
I've never known anyone bring their problems to work like she does Hmm Very professional, NOT!

bookbook · 17/09/2017 20:29

Evening all
well, am sat at DD's - we came for tea, and are doing a sleepover , just to be on the safe side - DGS is totally jumping around, eating and happy as Larry, so DD will take him in tomorrow, and we will be here if they turn him away. But basically is fine, apart from a cough ( DD did think croup, but Dr gave him a good check over and he's fine)
Had a lovely meal made for us , so I have brought my crotchet to do tonight, and once we know DGS is fine at school, DH and I will have a day out until we need to pick him up.
Willow - not a numpty - I went to the allotment this morning, and left my berry picking pots at home ( well - empty margarine tubs in truth!) .
It did have a go at raining , but only a bit. You do seem to have had more than your fair share of rain , even for your neck of the woods.
Cake - I love baking stuff too ! I have a pantry full of interesting tins , machines, tools , implements . I even find them in charity shops . I bought a bundt tin a couple of weeks ago - no idea at all when I will make one Blush. And I have been told by DH I must stop making sweet stuff, as he has to eat it Grin - no self control!
Chasing - I hope you managed a nice day in the end, and the weather hasn't been too miserable , and your boys are safely home too now.

Horse - how did the shopping for uni go - not too traumatic I hope!
Hoping Selena is okay , as well as thinking of Juan

bookbook · 17/09/2017 20:29

x post again! I am so slow typing ... It was a successful shop then!

Horsemad · 17/09/2017 20:38

Haha book yes! Smile

SelenaValentina · 17/09/2017 20:47

Hi Everyone, I'm home after a really cathartic break (if rather too much food!!). Nearly 5 hour drive back as Sat Nav lady recognised something wrong on M62 so I had the joy of Penistone Pass - beautiful sun, then shower to make it even more scenic. This added 30 mins to the drive, but better than sitting in a jam, I guess.

Quite strange coming home alone, just the cats to greet me, DH died 13 weeks ago, quarter of a year already gone. Odd.

Of course when I got home, the weather was gorgeous. The kitchen is still a major work in progress, no hot water, fridge, sink etc, and now washer disconnected. Luckily son and partner live not too far away so 2 loads done there whilst we went out for meal, now hung out in the dark, washing that is, not son and partner.

Great to catch up on the thread - I passed loads of cars packed to the gunwales with duvets etc, so obviously the Uni treks well underway.

Just printed out online boarding for trip in 2 weeks to put safely away and hopefully remember where they are in all this very dusty chaos. Confused Smile

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 17/09/2017 21:12

Hello Selena good to hear from you. (((hugs))) for you. How is it 13 weeks???

Where are you off to again?

horse good luck for DS (and I hope you're ok at work tomorrow)

Willow2017 · 17/09/2017 21:34

Glad you had a nice time Selena drive home sounds long but last part sounds lovely. Even though it's a pia just now the kitchen will no doubt be worth every spec of dust.

Have sorted out berries and have 1& 3/4lb of sloes and tiny amount of Bramble. Will make some syrup to go on ice cream with them.
(If this phone changes sloes to skies once more I will scream! )

Willow2017 · 17/09/2017 21:35

Where are you off to in 2 weeks Selena?

SelenaValentina · 17/09/2017 22:28

I'm going to the Black Forest in Germany. It's with Great Rail but I'm joining group at hotel as long way from north west - i find it even worse coming back, having to get across London can be nightmare in itself!

I'm flying into Basel then it's just an hour on the train. I'm a real germanophile and DH was too so feels ok to go.

Someone in Suffolk was discussing the joys of sloe gin and prosecco, willow - but didn't get chance to try as driving.

Off to bed, electrician, kitchen organiser, plumber arriving at crack of dawn (to me anyway).

Sleep well everyone, Juan you too of course.

bookbook · 17/09/2017 23:00

That sounds lovely Selena - sounds like you had a good break :)
If you are like me, you will be up, washed and dressed at least an hour before the workmen are due just in case , and then they turn up late anyway!
Night all, sleep well
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 17/09/2017 23:02

Selena
ha ha I made slow gin a couple of years ago, it was lovely.
Unfortunately I like it more than it likes me and I rarely drink it as it makes me feel terrible next day even a small one. Hence the sloe cheese this year!

Ooh Black Forrest sounds fabulous. Lucky you.

Chasingsquirrels · 18/09/2017 08:50

Seems another post disappeared yesterday - grr.
Weather was dreadful yesterday, I had a long soak in the bath in the morning - something I do very rarely, then ds2 wanted the pool table put so we had to rearrange the kitchen in to the winter configuration to fit it. We all did some housework then ds2 and I watched Masterchef Australia, then over to my parents for tea.

Hope your ds is feeling okay now cake.

horsemad enjoy your last week with ds2.
Selena lovely to hear from you, sounds like you had a good break in Suffolk, and German should be good. I hope the kitchen is coming along.

What exactly is sloe cheese Willow?

It would have been John's birthday today.
One of the ladies from my WAY group has organised a meal so I'm going to that.
I also had a text from a friend asking of if wanted to eat with them this evening and my mum wanted to know if she should come over. All very lovely of them but actually it's just another day.
It will be 6 months on Friday. Forever and yet no time at all.

book glad dgs is better for school & photos, hope you and DH have a good day.

Right - work calls.

Willow2017 · 18/09/2017 12:13

Squirrels It's like lemon curd but with sloes. What can go wrong? laughs hysterically
Hard to believe it's 6 months already. Where did the time go? But as you say it's no time at all when it's such a devastating thing to cope with. (Hugs)

Took kids to school so went straight in for shopping and 'me' time with coffee and book.

Got a bunch of chicken portions and pulled pork on offer but I fear I don't have room in freezer! Plan is to cook it for packed lunches and easy teas. Got bags of shopping to put away my least favourite job. At least weather was kind to me, only rained while I was in cafe or shops😀😀

Hope dgs got to school ok Book

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 18/09/2017 13:21

Hello ladies

Have made it this far into the day, just a quick sit down before I tackle the hoovering and downstairs loo that is waiting for me. Other than that, fairly under control.

Thinking of you and John today Squirrels I am glad you've had so many offers for company. The WAY group is probably a good choice due to them being in similar position.

Ah Willow me time Grin I need to wait for Thursday!! Sounds like you've been really productive.

book I'm the same re getting ready. Did it for the smart meters last weekend and they showed at 10:30. School photos on Friday here.

Selena will you have some black forest cake on my behalf? That sounds like a lovely holiday.

Weather has looked threatening, but stayed dry so far.

Just in case anyone hasn't seen Somer she has updated a thread to say they are doing well and all in love with the new baby Smile

bookbook · 18/09/2017 21:00

Evening ladies
a long day .....lengthened by the night time roadworks that held us up on the way home.. DGS just about back to normal, a bit over tired maybe . The photo was taken - luckily before lunch - spaghetti bolognese we were told, but we could see Grin .
Balck Forest sounds lovely Selena. We had a friend who went on a Danube cruise , and I rather fancy that , but DH not keen. We have done one cruise, and that was one too many for him .
Chasing I hope today went well for you - and that being at work was a bit of a blessing.
Willow sloe cheese sounds good. I make my own lemon curd , and it is so much better than bought .
I'm ready for an early night , no doubting. DGS knocked on our door at just before 7 this morning, full of the joys !
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 18/09/2017 21:49

Glad you weren't needed today then book and here quite sensible and do littlies first to avoid exactly that sort of thing Wink

Been out for a jog after children settled. Was wet but did 15 minutes so slowly building up again (and 20 of walking).

Sleep well x

Horsemad · 18/09/2017 22:25

Thinking of you chasing Flowers

All of a sudden I seem to be in denial about DS going to uni (not sure how with endless clothes/student paraphernalia all over the place).
I have loads to do but am on MN instead...

Glad your DGS is better book Smile

Never heard of sloe cheese Willow, but it sounds amazing.

Willow2017 · 18/09/2017 23:29

Evening all

Been lazy ish pm (apart from feeding everyone and endless dishes!)
Watched tv with ds2 and watching Nick Cage film now. Really need to go to bed though, starting to yawn which is unusual for me at this time!

Horse I am not holding my breath it will be amazing when I make it Grin I was bad enough the run up to ds2 going to high school properly, I cant imagine what I would be like if either go to uni!

Book glad dgs is on the mend, bet the photo is a cutie. (I have school photos from primary 1 upwards all over the house! Plus ahem, a 'few more')

Chasingsquirrels · 19/09/2017 07:55

I have just lost a massive post - I am not happy about that - and have to get on.
So just waving at everyone.

bookbook · 19/09/2017 08:42

Morning all
lovely sunny day here -
slept well, up early. first load of washing just about finished, second all sorted ready to go in.
Cake - where do you find the energy to jog in the evening ? by then I'm ready for feet up , but there again, I never ever liked running! ( squash and badminton were my thing in the dim distant past ...)
Horse - it's very emotional waving off children to Uni - I cried on the way home from dropping off DD ( DH was quite clever though - he stopped the car and made me drive some of the way home, otherwise I would have been a complete soggy mess...) . It was much easier after the half term when she went back , and gradually sorted itself out.
Willow I still have all my DD's school pictures too :) You are allowed time off from housework - you deserve the down time !
Chasing - have a good day , hope the sun is shining on you :)
Have a good day all

Willow2017 · 19/09/2017 09:07

Morning all.
Well got sucked in to the film and there went the early night.

Got to sort out my room and put stuff in attic. Having new window put in Thursday so need to be sorted so I can move bed for them. Then get the Hoover going.

Sunny so far so fingers crossed. Hope it's shining for everyone.

SelenaValentina · 19/09/2017 09:26

I'm fugitive from kitchen onslaught. Turns out have to do much more clearing for rest of rewiring (are electricians always so depressive?) so once kitchen units in will have space. Maybe!

Chasing when trying to post on mobile I seem to have to press 'post' several times till a circle full of grey dots appears! No problem on laptop.

Oh it will be lovely to have hot water - and washer - back.

Have a good day, everyone. Wish I had your energy - can you all waft some over?

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 19/09/2017 12:31

Oh no, Squirrel was going to ask if it's on your phone... I never post from mine but the i-pad sometimes plays up like that and I lose a post. Sending you a hug regardless.

Selena that sounds about right. Have any of them sucked in their breath through their teeth yet?

book I don't really have the energy, but I made myself do it as I need to do something! I've never been a jogger either...probably why I struggle so much Blush

Willow it sounds like you just need some time to chill out.

Sunny here too and we walked to school, then went to soft play with a friend on foot and then back home, so a good stretch for the legs.
