Good luck Willlow

Willow2017 · 22/09/2017 12:08

Squirrels Thank you.

Whooo go me!
I am officially a volunteer valuer, start Tuesday (office too busy on mondays, smallest office in the world!) Hours to suit me too so can do as much as I want to keep me occupied Smile Might find a ming vase in the donations to sell ha ha.

LL has had a look in cupboard and it is still dry! Where the hell the water came from I dont know, hopefully it will make itself known or never return. No more stress please!

Have a good day all.

Re phones, tried to post this on my phone but wouldnt work at all! Very annoying, site is a bit dodgy at the moment.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 22/09/2017 12:18

Hello, oh no willow ffs, hope it's not the boiler but hopefully just a washer or something that needs replacing!

I've had a very productive morning and now just sitting down for a bit of lunch.

Enjoy the allotment book

Willow2017 · 22/09/2017 12:29

Cake
Have not got a clue where it came from there isnt a drop of water coming from any part of the boiler or pipes or tubes or ceiling its a complete mystery! All I know is I have to wash every damm bath towel in the cupboard and a pile of other stuff too as dont know where the water came from.

bookbook · 22/09/2017 14:30

Afternoon all
Willow - gald you got the interview out of the way, and now a job, even if it is a volunteer, it a stepping stone. I wonder if the serviceman caused the leak, but sorted it, and either didn't realise, ( or pretending not to) to getting water everywhere. What a pain though.
Cake - its a nice feeling, getting lots of stuff done. :)
I went and got what needed to be done at the allotment -lovely time, sunny and no wind. So yes, and enjoyable hour or so . Brought home a cauliflower for tea, and managed to palm off yet more pears . We have still loads to pick .
Did my shopping too , so this afternoon I can do stuff at home.
Need to have a quick hoover around, prep up tea as DD2 is coming. and clean the downstairs bathroom.
A little bit of a sit down and then onwards and upwards.
Hope Horse is coping , and in another way Chasing too.
I bet Selena has her head in a kitchen cupboard Grin If she is anything like me, the stuff won't all fit back in, even though you have got rid of stuff .
Mine mainly due to the fact that new kitchens have service gaps behind the cupboards, my old ones didn't , so an immediate loss of about 3 " depth in the shelves....

Willow2017 · 22/09/2017 15:08

Book
Thanks for the suugestipn I wish it was like that as that would solve the mystery
But the cupboard was completely empty for him to service the boiler so it couldn't have been fixed again by him. Any more suggestions past experiences are very welcome though. As Yul said "It's a puzzlement" 😀

Ahem...i like cauli and pears 😉 (have you got a spare box?)

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 22/09/2017 19:45

Well done Willow!

SelenaValentina · 22/09/2017 20:58

I second that, Cake.

You're not far wrong,, book, although I've been attempting to line everything with the brilliant Lakeland shiny stuff before throwing/placing things in. I'm really not good with sticky back plastic (or indeed cutting straight lines Blush) but gone through 8 rolls and not all done. Slouched off to Aldi as they had some, half the price, not sticky or indeed shiny. Will have to do! Put some things away and I'm wondering where on earth it all went before. Well it didn't, lot of it out on unit tops which I'm really really really trying to avoid! Hmm

Still needs tiling, something technical with the hot water pipe, decorating dining area, then the floor. I'm hoping by end October all will be just about done.

I do like the boiling water tap so far Smile at least!

It's raining again. Enjoy rest of evening, everyone.

bookbook · 22/09/2017 22:20

Evening all
Just put the crotchet down- had a lovely evening with DD2 for tea, and then Gardeners World :)
Willow - I wish I could get some to you . We have pounds and pounds of pears. Though I only have one cauliflower left to harvest now for a few weeks - I've been giving those away too!! The wet towels /sheets is a total mystery. When you emptied the cupboard, could they have got wet were you put them ( though why you wouldn't notice I'm not sure ...)
Selena - I was right! Though I use the Ikea non slip stuff in my cupboards - its clear with dimples, not shiny . I will admit that my pantry shelves are covered in oil cloth , so it looks a bit vintage with blue check hanging down a bit over the edge :)
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 22/09/2017 23:27

Book sorry but everything went on my bed on piles when I emptied the cupboard and shelving went into my bedroom too.

Selena kitchen sounds great and frustrating all at same time. I am bad enough with selotape never mind sticky back plastic. I remember puting the safety film on doors years ago, all those little panes! Not fun. Sounds like there is Still a bit to do but it will be worth it in the end.

Been watching tv. I loved the idea of those motor homes already ( but would be terrified of driving obe o those highland roads!) but the 5 celebs is making me want one and Jane McDonald is making me want to go on a cruise! But now in bed can hardly keep eyes open! It's very early for me.

Sweet dreams everyone.

Willow2017 · 22/09/2017 23:29

Posted too soon. Thanks, I am really chuffed although slightly terrified about actually working in such close proximity with....adults 😲again. (And wondering if I will pass up something priceless ha ha)

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 23/09/2017 06:42

Morning. DS woke at 5;30 for the toilet so I can't moan but didn't go back to sleep yawn

Off out for the day so won't get anything done. Made a chicken casserole yesterday so we can just heat and eat when we get in.

Now my birthday is over, DD is in full swing planning hers. Party venue chosen, friends listed, cake idea... Hmm (Not till November)

Yikes selena sounds like progress but so much hard work. Are you still doing spinning classes?

Have a good Saturday all. Juan still around and still struggling Sad

Willow2017 · 23/09/2017 08:00

Morning all.

Have a nice day Cake don't know how you do it. 5.30 is way too early !

Swimming this morning and then deciding what to do. If it stays fair and sunny might attack the garden and rope in kids.

Oh and 10 tons of washing!

Willow2017 · 23/09/2017 08:01

((Hugs)) for Jaun

Chasingsquirrels · 23/09/2017 08:07

CONGRATULATIONS Willow.
Well done you, and as book said being in employment can often be helpful in finding other employment. Hope you have nice people to work with.
Wet everything in the boiler cupboard is a mystery.

Another early start for you Cake, enjoy your day out & yum chicken casserole to come back to.

Ds1's birthday tomorrow, usually we have 2 sets of cards as would still have John's up but obviously not any more.
Ds1 is having an archery bow, although atm it's just an IOU and we are getting it a bit later when he has had a couple of months of archery.
So I've got him some big bars of galaxy chocolate to unwrap - they didn't have any on the first shops I went to, so I got him some multipacks, then popped into Asda yesterday and they had big bars and on offer too so I got him a couple and will save the (12 Blush) little bars I got him.
Have also got some bike lights to give him as well, hrs never bothered before but this year he's gone over to the next village quite a lot and now the nights are drawing in he will need them.
They are at their dad's the is evening and tomorrow do we will go over to my parents for tea and birthday cake when they get home.
He's never really bothered about a party, but then said he could go bowling with some friends - so we are going that in a couple of weeks as school is closed on an odd weekday.

Willow you mentioned school holidays - presumably yours are out of sync with ours, when do you have half term?

Selena do we get kitchen pictures when it is finished?

horsemad hope the drop off went okay and you are alright x

bookbook · 23/09/2017 08:43

Morning all
lovely sunny day here.
Cake - enjoy your day out - shame about the 5.30 . But isn't it a little joy to come into something already to go for tea . Our DGS's bitrthday is all sorted too- ( end of October ). I suppose you need to organise to know hat can and can't be done :)
Chasing - archery bow sounds fascinating - are they very technical, not just a bit of wood and string ( I'm supposing anyway). Bike lights are going to be needed anyway soon I would thought- once the clocks go back, it gets dark earlier and earlier, and they never go amiss even in the late afternoon.
Willow - ah well, it was just a thought. And the volunteer job is exactly right to ease you back in, and give you something positive on your CV .
Well off to get dressed. - Am helping out at the little shop today , and want to get down there early to do a bit of work at my allotment first- just some deadheading and checking all is well , nothing hard work .
Afternoon is just some housework and cooking - my DB and partner coming for a meal tomorrow , so want it tidy :)
Have a good day everyone
Hugs to Juan

SelenaValentina · 23/09/2017 12:31

Cake - 5 30 feels like middle of the night! And on a Saturday, grrr.
Remember when DS was doing archery, squirrel, all seemed very technical to me when they were yattering on about fibre, gut, weight, balance etc. etc.

Willow my ex MiL (old battleaxe) used to say 'If you're in work, you'll get work' and she was right (though not about much else in relation to me Grin). Once you make it to coffee break, you'll be fine and presumably others in a similar sort of boat?

DS and I had a rethink about rewiring, going to tell grumpy to just finish off dining area and we'll do rest later. Smile Decorator came and was incredibly helpful, no sharp intakes of breath re woodchip either!

Love and hugs to Juan, hope everyone has a great day. We'll be at the end of this thread soon, 943 messages.

Horsemad · 23/09/2017 12:38

Quick c&p job but yesterday was eventful:

My day:

Set off & car broke down 1 hr into the trip. AA sent very nice man out, he fixed problem but engine damaged & undriveable. Had to drive 18 miles for hire car - very nice AA man took me there. I had to drive hire car because DH didn't have his licence with him.
Set off again at 14 .45 but A1 was horrendous with delays, so took 3.5 hrs instead of 2.5.

DS's room is lovely. I made his bed up & almost got in the bloody thing myself, as I was exhausted!! Grin

Hope all having a good Saturday; we are exploring Newcastle & meeting up with DS2 later Smile

Willow2017 · 23/09/2017 13:25

Good grief posted after Book but obviously didn't work.

Went on to town with ds2 looking for some nice t shirts or tops for 'work' waste of time. Oh well had freebie caramelatte 😀
Still no Halloween stuff in Morrison's but they have Xmas stuff! I need more severed arms they had last year!

Off to attack the garden.

Willow2017 · 23/09/2017 13:28

Horse
Your post just appeared!
What a horrible day. Glad you made it though. Enjoy Newcastle.

Willow2017 · 23/09/2017 13:33

Ok so all the posts now showing!!! Told you this thing was possesed😀

Chasingsquirrels · 23/09/2017 15:14

Oh Horse what a pain. Just when you don't need something like that.

Another egg today!
I thought it was the leghorn but looking at the tiny one from the other day and this one side by side the shell isn't quite so white and I'm not sure - so it might be the Snowball coming back into lay.

Chasingsquirrels · 23/09/2017 15:23

Just checked again and there was another tiny white egg in a scrubby nest under the bush, so must have been the Snowball earlier ☺

Willow2017 · 23/09/2017 16:23

Garden slightly less messy got 4 bags of dried up woody weeds. Bulbs planted. Got headache for my sins so stopped after bulbs.

Slobbing on sofa now waiting for rain so can grab the washing in and waiting on chicken wings cooking for tea.

More eggs, lovely, might start them all off Squirrels. On our holiday near Western Super Mare we stayed on a farm where all the outbuildings were convérted to cottages. The owners had hens and all the kids staying there got to feed them at night and go find an egg for thier breakfast. Ds2 loved it. (They also had guinea pigs which kids went into every evening to hold on thier laps and feed. Which is why we have gps now 😀)

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 23/09/2017 17:44

Hello, yes the thread is nearly full!

We had a good day. DS held up incredibly well and did the world's biggest poo Blush so that may have explained it. Hoping walking miles and all the excitement will mean they both sleep!

I think it's easier to find work if you have work too. I'm sure it will go well.

Our half term is the week before Halloween which is a bit odd.

DS's school is doing MacMillan this Friday (afternoon and for the children only Hmm) and DD's not till October.

Lovely to hear you've got more eggs and happy birthday to DS for tomorrow.
