Afternoon all.

Bedroom blitzed! Sorted out drawers, pulled bed etc away from wall to hoover (so I am not embarassed by dust when window fitted Smile ) Need to get a screwdriver see if I can fix the drawers in bedsite units.

More stuff put in attic and I can now see my bedroom floor! Curtains washed, although need to go out again due to huge black cloud appearing then carrying on its merry way without raining!

Sorted out dry washing and now got a pile of ironing...its never ending! Still havent hoovered downstairs yet! (ahem, did have a short power nap though Grin )

Squirrels sometimes my phone needs pressing more than once to post a message, have missed that its not done it before and lost messages, such a pia.

SelenaValentina · 19/09/2017 15:09

willow can you just hop over to me and work such magic?

I want Samantha's (Bewitched for those who remember) nose. And DH to just get it done, like he did (eventually) Sad. But it will be worth it.

bookbook · 19/09/2017 16:56

Afternoon all
Selena - I would waft you some energy, but I've gone and used it all up for today whilst I was at the allotment this afternoon. Electricians - I haven't found them depressive, but there is always more to be done . We have had our electrics checked every single time anything needs doing , and also had the newest of new fangled fuse box trip thingies twice in 15 years . I'm sure its a money making scam :) ( not really, but...) Do remember though to have loads and loads of sockets fitted - its always easier to put them in and not use them, then think drat, I could have done with more!
it's all the little things that they did that suddenly you realise have landed on your shoulders, with no one else to do it- horrid ((hugs))
Willow [awe] - curtains washed!!! by gum you are cooking on gas !
Cake - if you don't like jogging, that is even more impressive!
Well, sat down now with a coffee for five minutes just have to sort out a the fruit and veg I have just brought home. Everything to make a minestrone soup with beans tomorrow , and about a kilo of raspberries. But I may just freeze those.
Chasing -I only read and post on my laptop, so no earthly use on advising on lost posts . Perhaps now it will be sorted. Nothing worse than typing out loads and it goes

Luckily tea is easy tonight - basically left overs from a couple of days ago :) as I am off to a committee meeting tonight. What a social whirl I live !

Chasingsquirrels · 19/09/2017 17:11

The post within was because I tried to add a picture then got impatient about it taking ages and it then all crashed.
I often have to press post twice as well.

These are the pictures.

are they still roosting in the tree? They are looking happy, and at first glance I thought they were having a race!

Willow2017 · 19/09/2017 17:43

selena waft waft 😀
Good and bad stuff after picking kids up. Ds2 invited to go play footie with friends after school which is great if a pia as its 2 miles away and taxi of mum needed 😀 bad cos class idiot picking on him during class and not letting him work and another kid outside class being a proper little git annoying too. Bless him he thought he put all that behind him. Will monitor it and see how it goes if it's really going to be a problem will see his pastoral care teacher. Not going through all that again.

Drawers fixed, will use them for kids stuff as thier pjs are overflowing their own bedside drawers. If only they would stop growing dammit😀

The chooks are fab are they behaving?

Book busy as ever. I don't mind washing the curtains it's hanging them up again that kills me! I can provide a good home for those rasps if they are any trouble😉
Nearly time to go for ds2 then late tea. Bake off on later so he is gonna be busy, GPs to muck out and feed and shower first!

Chasingsquirrels · 19/09/2017 18:02

So what did I say? Ummm...

cake well done you on the jogging.
book glad dgs was okay and hope the pictures turn out okay.
Willow you have been busy, and busier still today!

Yesterday was weird - a bit sad, but mostly just another day and irrelevant really. Just another step along my journey through life without him. Sometimes I miss him so much it's a physical pain and other times his part in my life seems like a brief interlude that seems somewhat unreal. Tbh the whole situation seems unreal really, although I do know it isn't. If I let myself think about the loss I feel about him no longer being in my life it's almost unbearable - so mostly I don't. I'm don't think I'm in denial, just coping.

Chasingsquirrels · 19/09/2017 18:07

The smaller brown one (newbie) is roosting in the tree - the others, including newbie Leghorn (v v white one) are picking on her and won't let her eat (grr) so I've been scattering half their food on the ground rather than in the bowl - the grass cuttings are from mowing the back lawn last week and scattering the food in them gives then some scratching and pecking activity.

Poor ds2 willow. How bad is it? I think I'd be emailing school asap to bring it to their attention. Good that friends invited him to play footie though - are they new friends?

Willow2017 · 19/09/2017 18:20

Squirrels funnily enough they are on/off friends from primary. Only friends when it suited them and horrors when it didn't. But fingers crossed they are maturing a bit.

You just have to cope in your own way. It won't do any good to be constantly thinking about what happened and being in pain. You can't move on if you do that and as hard as it sounds you have to move on (at your own pace) you can't stay in limbo forever. Of course it's gonna hit you every so often and make you sad that's natural. Its not like you can just forget years of loving someone just like that. You do what you have to do to get by. (Hugs)

Will see how week pans out with ds2 and call on Friday if no better.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 19/09/2017 20:59

Hello! A very long day here - both children up at 5 f'ing 30 Shock, walked a good few miles today, did tea and the 2 lots of different homework and bed time stories etc and just did online food shop too.

DH just walking in the door now and he's been having horrid dreams so shattered all round!

Waving to all and loving the chicken pics. I'm going to eat chocolate in bed now which is why I need to jog in the first place!

Love to all x

Willow2017 · 19/09/2017 21:50

Evening all.
Trying time kids arguing and takung forever to do as told at first but all quietened down.
Watched bake off. What a horrible thing to do to them😀 caramel is so unreliable. Watching nature prog about alaska love that stuff. But I confess after cleared up tea have done nothing else 😀 ignoring ironing which I may regret in morning if kids don't have trousers 😄😄 still have packed lunches to sort out how exciting.

Cake no wonder you need choc! You are wonder woman getting up so early!

bookbook · 19/09/2017 22:20

Evening all
well, my evening was a lot less busy than expected. Committee meeting over and dusted in half the time. as usual ( probably due to the argumentative one didn't turn up, and another one away on holiday- lovely chap, but he won't switch his hearing aids on, so we have to repeat everything twice Grin )
Chasing - poor little brown hen - in chickens, I presume she will always be bottom of the pecking order ? You are doing the best you can atm, and I am amazed you are coping so well .Loss doesn't have a time scale - it just is , but will hopefully be more manageable as you move on.
Cake - on no - 5.30 Shock . I really don't know if this could help, but DD has been giving DGS little coping mechanisms to relax at bedtime , and it seems to be working. He is getting a good 30-45 minutes longer sleep in a morning, and is not so restless at night. Can pm you if it want?
Just finished watching GBBO - oh the stress. But I now want the toffee apple cake recipe!
Night all , sleep well
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 19/09/2017 22:57

It's a miracle!
Ds1 came out shower asking about his hair, if I thought it would be better off his face...got him sat down, hairdryer on and set to work😀 what a difference found a parting and brushed it back he really suits it. Fingers crossed he keeps it. Also wanted a hand with his monobrow!
can't help wondering why the sudden interest in his hair and eyebrows no no no don't go there am not ready for that 😲

Horsemad · 20/09/2017 06:29

Uh oh Willow!!! There's a girl on the scene by the sounds of things! Grin

In the middle of packing boxes here and DS's bank account finally got upgraded to a Student Account, after much arguing with Santander, so that's another thing ticked off the list.

chasing, do you think the chickens vwill eventually accept the outcast? I do hope so, I hate to think of her being shunned Sad

Cake, hope you got a bit of a lie in this morning; 5.30am start - had one myself today and whilst I love the solitude the early morning brings, I'm not sure I'd want to be up that early with kids!!

Selena hope the kitchen is taking shape?
We are doing the bathroom early next year, when I can find time to start researching new stuff!

Chasingsquirrels · 20/09/2017 07:32

cake hope this morning wasn't quite so early and you all managed a decent sleep.

Willow - ds1's personal hygiene has improved no end since girls came on the scene Grin.

book your meetings sound like they might be a bit Vicar of Dibley-ish. Glad it was a short one.

horsemad good that the student account is sorted. How is ds2 feeling about it now?

The brown hen is likely to always be bottom of the pecking order, they do let her eat eventually - just not when the food is first put out. They can be vicious animals though.

Watched a Planet of the Apes film with ds1 last night, 2nd of the new ones. I saw it at the cinema with John when it came out. Ds2 thought it was most odd - but was quite transfixed. I used to love the originals.

Willow2017 · 20/09/2017 09:05

Squirrels

I used to watch the tv series back when God was a boy😀 the films were great too. Had a thing for Roddy McDowell 😉
Don't think I have seen the 2nd one of the new films but it's on all month so might catch it yet. Lots of good films on lately makes a change from the same old repeats.

Well any improvement in hygiene would be a bonus! No rush to start preening this morning tho, damm.

Cake hope you got a decent sleep last night. I would be crawling by tea time getting up at that time now.

Have a good day folks hope suns shining where you are cos it's hidden behind clouds here.

bookbook · 20/09/2017 09:11

Morning all
ah Willow - be ready , it has started .....but once a day is sufficient at the moment obviously!
Horse - good to hear the bank account is sorted, they do drag on sometimes . Good luck with researching bathrooms - don't forget to sit on the toilets when you do! ( there are some very uncomfortable ones......
Chasing - poor hen ..... erm , it is a bit like the Vicar of Dibley, all well meaning , with a very busy , bright secretary , and then the rest of us ....Grin
Well, I need to go and get a shower, get dressed , and be off to the craft chat
Have a good day everyone!

Willow2017 · 20/09/2017 11:28

OMG I cannot get off the bit today!
Started tidying up and dusting then thought I had better check my emails re jobs so put pc on. An hour later have just finished! 10 million jobs in the other end of the country later! Got an offer of an interview for a voluntary job with charity doing online valuing so thats something I suppose. Also reapplied for a job that have reappeared again, more stupid questions (if you were a pet what would you be and why? A flamming grizzly bear so I could hibernate away from stupid questions?) more BS spouting.

Tried to put some cm stuff onto disks to get it off pc and it got to 99% then stopped! Now apparently the stuff that was actually on the disk before I started has dissapeared too! (insert every swear workd under the sun)
Washing out but sunny one minute cloudy the next so will need to keep eye on it. Good grief not a Happy Bunny today!
Rant over Smile

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 20/09/2017 13:29

Hi just a quick one... 6am if that's better but we were awake part way through the night. book yes please. willing to try anything!

It's my birthday so thought I'd do something nice with the littlies but swear we spent most of our time out in the sodding toilets. Now need to go to story time and a meeting after school with DD's teacher.

(got lots of lovely bits and a yummy cake so lucky lady)

Will come and read tonight. Just turned laptop on to get some info for meeting Wink

Willow2017 · 20/09/2017 14:19

Cake
Happy Birthday Cake Flowers Wine Glad you were appreciated by everyone Wink Good luck with the school meeting, dont let them BS you about anything.

Well seem to have caught up again, just kitchen floor to do and am studiously avoiding it! Ironing done, bathroom done, etc etc. How in the world did I ever do all this when working?

Have had offer of a job but only temp for up to a month, packing...its not fair! What do I do? I have applied for several seasonal jobs plus the new pet store one. If I take this and get the offer of a longer term/permanent job and have to tell them I cant start for a month it will put the kybosh on it wont it? Plus folding clothes standing at a counter all day (which is what the job is) probably wont do my back/shoulders much good. OMG why is nothing simple in this bleeping house? H E L P !!!!!

bookbook · 20/09/2017 16:01

Many Happy Returns Cake - toilets I have known is the title of a book by many a parent ......( and cm's of course!)
Nice to open cards and bits - so Cake and [ wine] for later :)
Will pm you later ..
Willow that sounds like such a horror of a morning - could you be naughty, take the temp job and then give notice if something else comes along ( I have no idea if that is possible/legal though ...) .
I think when you are working , the jobs are fitted in , and you are more focused IYSWIM? So these days, I still do it all, but I have sit downs, and time when I go and do a bit of a potter elsewhere, or decide the cupboard needs tidying- things I just didn't do before .
I had a lovely couple of hours at the crafty chat club this morning. Then ironing after lunch, and a stint at the allotment , but only an hour. Just sat having a coffee, and then off to make a big pan of minestrone soup for tomorrows tea ( I do like to let soup and casseroles go cold, and let the flavours develop before reheating up. )
Hope everyone else is okay , and Selena - hope you are not tearing your hair out at kitchen disruption

SelenaValentina · 20/09/2017 16:35

Cake Happy Birthday Flowers

Willow, I agree with book, take the temp job and then disappear when something else arrives. Happens all the time, and sometimes the temp job suddenly becomes permanent if they like you.

Kitchen going well, organiser tearing his hair out at non-appearing plumber so still no working washer. But have ovens!!! Electrician still rabbiting on at how complicated re-wiring rest of house will be, and what he wants clearing, and not that straightforward, and still has to get his drills etc through, and floorboards up, and plaster, and will the cats be about, and may need the eaves, and ..... Yes, I said, I'll do my best but please, just do it. So week on Monday, he says he will be coming.

Can't be bothered to go to gym, feet up and read instructions re cookers! Might do a bit a packing as case being picked up on Tuesday. No aerosols, that's a pain!

(In case there's a lurking grammar fanatic, I do know there should be no commas before all the 'and's'. But guess what, I don't care, so there!)

Willow2017 · 20/09/2017 17:20

Have an interview for the voluntary job on Friday just shoot me now 😀

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 20/09/2017 18:42

Hi, have read all of that but my brain is fried.

Willow I don't know what to suggest, just see what feels right for you.

Glad things more sorted Horse how much stuff has he got???

Thanks for the PM book, will have a look now.

Ooooh Selena ovens is something I guess but hot water and a washing machine would probably be more use

Sending you a hug Squirrel

Thanks for the good wishes. It's not been a great day, but everyone is in one piece and I know I'm loved, so that'll do.

Chasingsquirrels · 20/09/2017 20:09
