Afternoon all
very quick dip in.
Chasing - they look good, may have to go and find those!
White magnums are my ice cream treat too
Horse - well, the cheek of the woman. But - maybe that is the management style - just say it has to be done, and someone will do it. All too common - being given targets which are wishful rather than achievable
Cake - hope the mood stays that way, and you are havinga better day too
Raining most of the morning so we have played with play doh, lego , train set , hide and seek and bouncing on the bed {grin]
DH has just taken DGS to the playground for half an hour as the rain has stopped. I am here waiting in on two deliveries, both late... and its looking really black ....
I am going to make myself a coffee and sit back.
DGS is going home early tonight, so he can have tea and bath at home before the big day .
Hope all is well with everyone - Willow - did you manage to order in the end?

bookbook · 05/09/2017 13:58

addendum - it is absolutely lashing it down - am preparing dry towels, and clothes ......!

Willow2017 · 05/09/2017 14:37

Afternoon all.

Excuse the red face...i forgot to transfer money to pay for ridiculously expensive white goods so will have to wait till later to try it😶

Horse Not too far from Edinburgh will check on pc later. They are beautiful. You can do a canal trip past them or drive past on road. We drove past on way to the 'Falkirk wheel' that lifts canal boats up from one level to another it was fun😀

Been in a tidying frenzy today. Did tv cupboard and did all the Xbox and Wii stuff. Then attacked the bookcase. Have reclaimed it from child minding stuff. Got piles of stuff for selling, charity and bin. Washed toys and sorted them out
Place looks like a pigsty but I know what I am doing (I think)
It's raining here too heavy at times.

bookbook · 05/09/2017 20:16

Evening all
Well all quiet here now, just waiting to hop into taped GBBO when I think enough time has gone to miss the ads :)
It feels a bit odd - I am sorting out DGS toys, chucking out the playdoh , and putting stuff into cupboards. The living room will look almost empty without his toy basket !
Willow - daft ha'pporth!
And the most annoying thing of toady - neither delivery turned up. Got a message about one of them , after the delivery slot, and have had to chase up the second so called guaranteed next day delivery .....
Have a good night all

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 05/09/2017 20:52

Hi DS was horrid from tea time onwards and didn't go to sleep for ages.

Consoling myself with popcorn and the RLNI boys - lots to be grateful for!

Don't ever want to try and bake fortune cookies book

I need to go to the PO tomorrow as I missed a parcel too - nothing exciting. Some SA goodies, new mats for the porch floor. What a wonderful life I lead Wink

Thinking of you all.

Horsemad · 05/09/2017 21:32

No show deliveries - most annoying book Angry Hope your DGS has a great first day at school tomorrow - is he excited?

Willow, yes, I forgot the Falkirk Wheel; DH keen to see that, so we will definitely make a trip up at some point I think.

Cake, hope DS better behaved for you tomorrow, what time did he fall asleep?

I've had a busy day at work then straight out to a meeting. Now about to sit and relax!

bookbook · 05/09/2017 22:26

Well, just popping in to say goodnight and sleep well everyone .
I am ready for my bed :)
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 05/09/2017 22:40

HI all.

Am shattered! Day flew by. Put cm stuff I will try to sell in boxes and bags, got kids, made tea, slobbed onto couch to watch Bake Off with ds2, dishes done and am yawning my head off!

Horse The wheel is fun, such a crazy idea. About an hour from A9 but of course depends where in Edinburgh you would be staying. You need to book a place on the boat so either book online or hope you dont have to wait too long when you get there. Probably takes as long to actually lift the boat as it does for the short canal trip Grin
Maybe by the time you get to Edinburgh the Panda might have had a baby Smile

Cake hope DS is settled for the night and you can catch up on some sleep.

Missed deliveries not good, you shouldnt have to chase them up.

Book who is more excited you or DGS?

bookbook · 06/09/2017 08:58

Morning all
well, sat having a guilty breakfast - toast , which I love, but don't have very often :)
Had the picture of DGS in his uniform with a rather forced smile . I'm not sure he is excited as such - he is looking forward to playing with two friends he made before summer, but was telling DD that he wouldn't need to go to school every day ......!
Sun is out, washing machine nearly finished a first load. Once thats hung out, and another load in, its off to the allotment for me .
Willow - sounds as if getting the cm stuff sorted has energised you
Have a good day all

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 06/09/2017 11:46

Ah book I hope he is OK. DS didn't want to go back every day either Wink

Today so far has been much better. Just waiting to put small one in bed after lunch as they're arguing! DS was running a temp again this morning so I think I've done the right thing to just have a bit of calm today.

Horse I hope that your day today will be a bit quieter and that RBB will come to his senses about how BB operates.

Willow, you've done loads. I've just sorted my first aid kit with new stuff - bandages go out of date - WTF?!

DD's SM has annoyed me so I'm pleased my journal has arrived - think the first thing I will write in there is: Take a deep breath and let it go Grin

Will have to wait till DD calls me this evening to hear how her first day back went. Apprehensive for her after all of the drama last year.

Sun is out, so hoping you all have a good day.

Willow2017 · 06/09/2017 13:39

Afternoon all

Cake apparently they do but as they are sealed and also in a box I dont chuck them out as soon as the bbf date appears! Hope the temp goes down soon and he gets rid of the bugs.

Housework city here. Whoever invented housework needs floggin! Sat down to 'brunch' at 1! Gonna swing for those kids, found a whole load of dvds out their boxes all over their room. Its gonna get blitzed soon so they had better tidy it up or its the bin! Got washing to go out but black clouds hovering around so will wait. I know as soon as I put them out it will bucket down!

Book aww he is in for a shock isnt he bless him.

Chasingsquirrels · 06/09/2017 16:27

Just picked up 2 new hens - a leghorn and a blacktail.
Plan to put them in the hen house and let the others in at dusk.
So,

  • leghorn in - tick
  • blacktail in - tick All going well, start to put the roof back on and the leghorn hops up and flies out before I can grab her. Chase her round the run a bit - and then she flies up and out through the top of the trellis. Try to catch her but she escapes into the hedge. Eventually get her out from under the hedge and am rounding her back through the gate into the run - when she notices the open front door and goes into the house. Straight up the stairs ... and then is flying round the spare room! Eventually manage to catch her when she goes into the bathroom and gets trapped in the corner of the bath with the shower screen stopping her getting away. Needless to say I've clipped one of her wings before putting her back into the hen house and I'm just about to put extra netting round the top of the trellis. Just hope she isn't too traumatised from the adventure.

Existing 3 hens in the corner & 2 new hens peacefully in the hen house!

Off to read everyone's updates...

squirrels
What a fun way to spend the afternoon! We had a stray hen out on our road. Caught it and trailed around village with said hen under my arm to find owners! Not a fan of flapping wings so huge deal for me😀
Are they good layers?
My 2nd cousin has rare breed hens she raised them from chicks (well eggs to be precise) they are lovely very fancy hens
Making tea then off to martial arts for an hour. Get to read my book in peace.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 06/09/2017 18:35

Oh my! That sounds almost as fun as my afternoon with grumpy Grin

Spoken to DD and she had a good day so there's that to be grateful for.

Just going to get started on my journal tomorrow, have got some stuff ready and going to treat myself to some lovely pens in town (and probably a hot chocolate that I can drink in peace till it's finished)

Going to watch Dr Foster now and see if series 2 is good. I liked the 1st one.

Have a good evening all!

bookbook · 06/09/2017 18:52

Evening all
Chasing - that made me laugh , and reminded me of Chicken Run Grin hope the ruffled feathers have smoothed out!
Well, it seems DGS had a good day, didn't even look back it seems !
Had a busy day - all morning at the allotment , harvested loads of stuff.
Ironed everything including the duvet cover :)
Been to the shops, frozen everything , and made tea. A bit stuffed tbh - I picked sweetcorn this morning , and you really have to eat it the same day , so had that as well as the cauliflower cheese and jacket potato Blush . Worth it though ...
DH is popping to DD1's later - he has his new phone , and she is a whizz at moving all the important stuff over from one to another . So, I can watch Location while crocheting
Have a good evening

Horsemad · 06/09/2017 22:23

Helloooo! Been off today so had two coffee dates with friends; it was a lovely afternoon! Smile

The chooks are lovely chasing, hope the newbies settle in ok.

Hope DGS isn't too sad when he realises school is Mon-Fri for many years book, bless him! Grin

Cake, hope DS's temp settles. Re bandage expiry dates, I know some medical charities send out of date dressings/bandages to underdeveloped countries, so I don't think it can be too detrimental. Should be ok if still in sterile wrapping.

Would❤️ to see a baby panda Willow; that would be just gorgeous Smile
Really must investigate a journey north...

bookbook · 06/09/2017 22:44

Just put my crotchet down, cup of hot chocolate has arrived courtesy of DH :)
Sounds like a nice day Horse
Cake - hope you night is uneventful
Sleep well everyone

Willow2017 · 06/09/2017 23:41

Evening all

Evening went to pot! Didnt realise the time had flown so fast, had joiners in to check about putting new window in and by the time we realised the actual time was late for TKD. Mad rush to car and in my haste slammed the door on my foot! Would not have been worth going anyway so hobbled back into house toes screaming!

Had quiet night on sofa after that watching tv with ds2 after his homework.

Have to take kids to school in am and friday as the kid they get a lift with isnt going to be there. No waiting till they go to get dressed then! Oh well will go straight in for top up shopping and a coffee and get back and attack the house once more. Maybe if I stop buying more than bare minimal to keep them alive kids will learn not to eat me out of house and home? What do you think? Wink

Sweet Dreams all.

bookbook · 07/09/2017 08:14

Morning all
ouchy ouch Willow - hope you haven't done too much damage to your poor foot.
we are off out today - a quick dip in to see an old friend/customer along with a couple of other bits to do on the way , then off to the supermarket for a big shop. Got one of those coupons - £14 off if I spend £90 , so I have been sorting out a proper list !
Have a good day everyone

Somerville · 07/09/2017 09:52

Well given the thread has just been introduced to the new hens, is it a good moment to introduce a thread baby? A not-so little boy. He's doing really well and we all adore him. I might recover from birthing him some day!

bookbook · 07/09/2017 10:02

Oh Somer - congratulations!!!! StarFlowers Cake Brew
not too difficult I hope ? xxx

SelenaValentina · 07/09/2017 11:18

somer Flowers well done!

I've been bit busy clearing out/sorting/probate etc., but I've kept checking in, keeping up to date with you all. Smile

Kitchen men moved in as I drove away for my 10 day, probably very cathartic, certainly very welcome break in Lincs then Suffolk. Cats very bewildered and not thrilled at being stuck in (quite large) bedroom.

Loved the hens!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 07/09/2017 11:36

Wonderful news Somer congratulations to you all.

DS didn't want to go to school but at least no tears. Hope he comes out OK. My anxiety has been building this week about it all. He was rather horrid last year from October-March (not at school but afterwards to me).

I've spent 2 hours in town on my own mooching. It wasn't massively successful, but got a few bits and pieces and jumped on the scales and it as horrific as I thought.

Now going to make a start on the downstairs cleaning with some loud music to help me along.

Horse I've kept the old kit and a few bandages for the role play box and dumped the rest - such a waste. Will look into sending them on in future - did not know about that.

Willow2017 · 07/09/2017 12:10

Somer congratulations wonderful news on a cold dreich day.

Well miraculously managed to get kids to school and get the shopping done. BUT. We have lots of those stupid (well today they are) traffic slowing kerbs into the middle of the road things round here and one of them is very tight and I clipped the kerb going for the shopping. Only when I got back home I thought I had better check the tyre (doh!) and its got a bulge. So its back to town later to get a new one, more flipping expense. Will go straight from school and take kids to Morrisons for tea afterwards to sweeten them up Smile

Not got much done since I got back, bit of tidying. Raining since 9am had to wear a coat in town! Oh and got back home to find the shower had turned itself back on after I left! Its a bit tempramental and if the electic isnt turned off it does that sometimes. Not a great day so far Smile

Selena enjoy your holiday, spoil yourself.

Book toes are bit better thanks but seem to have pulled a muscle! Left rib area very sore for some reason, havent a clue how I did it. Its not my day!

Cake fingers crossed he settles down and enjoys school now so has nothing to be cranky about when he gets home.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 07/09/2017 13:05

Thanks Willow - hope your injuries and expenses stop now! My granny believed things came in threes and could often be found throwing (smashing) an empty bottle outside to get the 3 out of the way Grin

Nice to see you Selena apart from upset cats, how are things?
