Cake

Sorry to hear that thinking of Jaun and family today as usual.

Sending (((hugs)))

bookbook · 03/09/2017 20:25

Evening all
Everyone has left, clutching flowers and veg :)
Cake - I love feeding my family, love having them all around . I'm very lucky that I am based about half way between my two DD's , so we can all meet up together at ours :)
Willow - jelly making is a pain - all that straining through muslin - Grin . The allotment is something I love , so its not a problem, though I do fret sometimes when I can't get there . I am aware though that I won't be able to do it forever - In the meantime, we are just about self sufficient in most fruit and veg, and can give stuff away too :)
So sorry to hear about Juan . I know how hard Sundays and Mondays are for her.
About to pick up my crotchet , so ahve a good evening everyone

Horsemad · 03/09/2017 23:28

Well, that was a long and tiring day. I feel rubbish after all that driving, was good to see my mum though Smile

Off to bed now, will have to read through today's posts tomorrow! Smile

Chasingsquirrels · 04/09/2017 08:09

Sorry to read that Juan is low. Send her my thoughts please Cake.

My mum made blackcurrant jelly/jam with ds2 yesterday - but she had already done all the straining so it was just boiling up and setting.

Hope you had a good sleep after your long day horsemad.

Hope you hear better news about MIL today cake.

Took the boys to town and got new trainers and a new running top for ds1 and a new school bag and kit bag for ds2 - got home and we'd chosen one bag then picked it up in a different colour and it's a different bag, have to see if we can exchange.

Ds2 starting secondary today, ds1 not back until tomorrow as the yr7's get the first day on their own. So he's all sorted and about to go!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 04/09/2017 08:33

Hello, I will pass on all the wishes.

We had an awful night with DH having multiple nightmares, a power cut which meant various things in the house were all having beeping melt downs and to top it off DS has been throwing up.

Had to change all our plans for today (not his fault) and unlikely he'll start school on Wednesday now Sad

I've got a feeling today will involve me standing in the kitchen eating chocolate quite a lot!

Willow2017 · 04/09/2017 08:47

Morning

Cake What a night! Hope ds is better soon poor soul. Power cuts already!

Kids off to school and I am jumping in shower then off to get shopping while it's reasonably quiet.

Washed the muslin I used for the jelly last night and when I opened the door it was sitting in water! Flipping washer seems to have a problem with the quick wash so had that to sort out before washing went in.

Squirrels thats a pain hope you can get the bag changed. Some are no use for all the stuff they need to carry. I remember the campaign about kids carrying too much in their school bags but ds1 says they have to have everything in their bags in case a teacher isn't there and they get another subject instead. His bag weighs a ton dont think it does their backs any good. What's the point in lockers?

Have a good day folks.

Chasingsquirrels · 04/09/2017 08:52

Sorry to hear you've had a bad night cake, hope today improves x

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 04/09/2017 10:07

DD's been dropped to a friend with cake, crisps and DVDS so at least she's not moping around at home.

DD has a locker but apart from storing her lunch and PE kit in there, she does carry a tonne of books around all the time.

willow power cut is intermittent fault on our road that they can't track down yet.

Have a good day you two!

bookbook · 04/09/2017 10:09

Morning all
a very grey/drizzly morning here, and due to stay that way - a bit miserable so I think today is an inside job - I need to do some sewing/mending with full concentration, so today may be the day .
Horse -driving or even being a passenger for that long on one day is incredibly tiring , but worth it. It takes a day to unwind from the concentration I find .
Chasing - isn't that always the way - but at least you have the trainers :)
I am so old, we had leather satchels at school, which weighed a ton all by themselves . I used to carry it in my arms, it was so heavy.
Cake - what a horrible time you are having - are DH's nightmares anything to do with worry over MIL? and poor DS - isn't it 48 hours for not going in - if he is better today ( fingers and toes all crossed for you there) he should just squeak in? Take care, and rest when you can
Willow - is that your new washer ( I did see that you had ordered it, along with a cooker didn't I ?)
Right, much later tan normal, I am also off for a shower, then out comes the sewing machine .
Hope everyone has a good day, and sending lots of positive thoughts and virtual hugs to you all

Willow2017 · 04/09/2017 12:37

Book

No still got the old one as it seemed to be working fine again. Now it's gone to hell again. Going to order cooker and washer today if I get organised. Just back from shopping and seems it's not just the short wash that's faulty 😤 big wash sitting in water too.

Today isn't going well couldn't get the things i wanted in boots, so took longer than I expected to do shopping. Forgot to go to bank. Now washer I should go back to bed and hibernate 😀

bookbook · 04/09/2017 14:09

It hasn't got a flood protector on it , has it Willow ? could you outlet pipe be blocked, or kinked ?
Just sat after doing a great big pan of tomato sauce for pasta , just needs a bit more simmering, a check on the seasoning, and its good to go ( well, bagged up for the freezer anyway !)

Willow2017 · 04/09/2017 14:13

When I put it on 'drain' and 'spin' cycles its working fine so the tube isnt blocked. Its a mystery!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 04/09/2017 15:30

Hello all. Surviving so far. He's not been sick since 9:15 but he doesn't squeak in. Have said I will take him and little one out for the day. He doesn't want to go back anyway.

He's eaten loads and we've even been for a little run round the block, but he's now in a big strop - hard to be patient when I'm also fed up/tired/have cabin fever.

Willow I hope that you get suitable replacements quickly. I couldn't be without a washing machine.

Chasingsquirrels · 04/09/2017 16:33

If the last sickness was 9.15am on Monday I'd be sending to school on Wednesday. They don't get a lot of sick days in my house!

Ds2 seems to have had a good 1st day, although his first "art" rotation is dance which he isn't too chuffed about.
He had extended form for 2 lessons, PE - which was just grouping them, dance and Maths (his favourite - and he was sat next to the daughter of one of my best friends who he has practically grown up with).
So that's a good start.

Ds1 was spending the day with his girlfriend so I went to work - back to routine.

Am having a v low calorie day (5:2-ing) as I want to shift those extra few pounds I've put on over the summer - mainly the week in Kos!

Willow hope the machine gets sorted - dodgy washing machines are so frustrating, at least you can manually turn it to drain & spin.

Willow2017 · 04/09/2017 16:48

Glad to hear he is on in the mend Cake.
Definately something up tje machine seems to be stopping and not clicking on to spin at all. Course by the time I had it sussed and spun it was raining!
Oh well at least I won't have to water the garden.
Making Mac cheese for tea not in the mood to be creative after the rubbish day I've had😀
Still haven't got things ordered kept being interrupted by phone calls will do it later.

Horsemad · 04/09/2017 18:42

Poor CakeDS, hope he's OK now. He'll be fine to start on Wednesday won't he? It'll be 48hrs then. Bet you were more tired this morning than when you went to bed after such a disturbed night!

Get the new washing machine ordered Willow!! Hate it when mine goes wrong!

bookbook · 04/09/2017 18:57

Evening all
thats near enough 48 hours Cake surely . I bet you are on your knees. Hope you have an undisturbed night tonight .
Chasing - sounds like a good day all round - well apart from the low calorie bit, anyway!
Willow - how annoying about the washer - it makes life difficult coping with broken machines . Macaroni cheese is one of my favourites , I don't make it often anymore, so I think I may just be doing that later this week :)
Horse - Hope you managed to get through the day with the big boss back!

Chasingsquirrels · 04/09/2017 19:29

I have a big plate of roasted peppers, tomatoes & onions plus some marinated chicken - and I didn't have any lunch so added some roasted new potatoes in as well. Very filling and only 400 calories.
Usually I have soup for lunch and don't have the potatoes but I'm full now.
My problem is I then want something sweet - I usually have a raspberry smoothie lolly which are delicious and v low, but none in so I've had one of ds2's rocket lollies instead ☺.
I quite like the low calories days, particularly on a Monday if I've overindulged over the weekend. Buy I find it hard to do them if I'm at home as I snack - at work I just keep going.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 04/09/2017 20:46

Hello

Well I may have promised him that I will take him to Legoland once everyone else is back in school Blush He doesn't want to go back to school anyway and I can send him on Thursday and have the day off whereas I'm working on Wednesday so won't have peace anyway. Is that very naughty??? Was apparently really really busy today so I'm sort of glad we missed it.

I fell asleep with him just now and now feel super grumpy. chocolate may have helped

I have no will power Squirrel so hats off to you. I've ordered myself a journal to keep track of things such as exercise, water, self care etc Hoping it will give me a bit of oomph.

Hope you're all OK!

Willow2017 · 04/09/2017 22:42

Evening all.

Just about to order my cooker!
Been distracted by wrangling phones off kids and heading them off at the pass (to the kitchen) and up the stairs, well ds1 anyway Smile

I love MN! Been on a thread about Xmas in Edinburgh and someone mentioned the Lanterns at the Zoo this Xmas. I didnt know a thing about it and have just booked it for me and kids 3rd Jan. Was planning to go to the zoo at some point in hols but never made it. That will do nicely.

www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/news/article/13095/china-s-giant-lanterns-to-light-up-scotland/

Will be going to the Xmas Market too at some point. Also looking at Beamish...getting ahead of myself eh?

Cake you are very naughty but I wont tell on you, promise. Wink

Squirrels the lollies sound lovely where do you get them? Rasp is my fave (I could go a Magnum double rasp right now actually, ok not exactly low calorie but soooo good Wink)

Damm got to do packed lunches still, no rest for the wicked.

Have a good night all.

bookbook · 04/09/2017 23:06

Evening all
Chasing - that sounds lovely - I love roasted peppers - mmm raspberry smoothie lolly - I could make those - I have the raspberries, and lolly moulds .....
Cake yes , naughty! I do like the idea of journals - I theoretically do one for my allotment planting, but it gets sadly neglected .
Willow - the joys of the internet - ordering at this time of night , its a wonderful thing. The Edinburgh Zoo lights look amazing .
Well, heading for bed - up early tomorrow - my last day looking after DGS - he starts school on Wednesday . A bit sad .
Sleep well everyone
Thoughts and Prayers

Chasingsquirrels · 04/09/2017 23:18

The raspberry lollies are Del Monte, I think they are 85 calories. They do a mango one as well.

Have a lovely day with dgs tomorrow book.

DH has died and MN Aunties are keeping things ticking over (Juan)
Chasingsquirrels · 04/09/2017 23:19

Actually having had these tempted me to a magnum raspberry one - I prefer the Del Monte.

Horsemad · 05/09/2017 07:22

Work was interesting yesterday book. My boss told me that the REALLY BIG BOSS wants more work from her and so she'll be passing on more stuff to me. Shock

I politely told her No, as I am swamped with work already and have no capacity to take on extra.

I really cannot take on more and said I will speak to RBB myself to make my point.

Watch this space...!

Hope you have a lovely day with your DGS, it is sad when they start school, I was bereft when my DS1 started - I soon got used to it though!! Wink

Chasing those lollys look good, will look out for them. I usually have white chocolate Magnums - my treat to me Smile

The zoo event looks nice Willow, never been to Edinburgh Zoo, I'd like to see Britannia at Leith and I'd love to see The Kelpies too Smile not sure where they are in relation to Edinburgh though. I feel a Scotland trip coming on Grin
Which cooker did you go for in the end?

Cake hope your DS has recovered now? I hate sick bugs Sad

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 05/09/2017 12:51

Hi all, he's in a much better mood.

I wonder if my attitude to time off sick comes from the fact that we were never allowed time off and I can remember how awful I felt? Lego not open tomorrow, so we'll find something else to do. Their school day starts at 8:50 Wink

Willow that sounds like a lovely thing to do!

Horse, I hope that RBB will see that for too long you've been put upon. not holding my breath though

book, I'm not sure I'll have the staying power for a journal either, but might just help me prioritise things a bit.

Squirrels how are you holding up after being quite low last week? A bit better with routine back in place?
