Horsemad · 17/08/2017 07:56

He is in!!! Going to Newcastle Grin so so relieved.

bookbook · 17/08/2017 07:59

Morning all
well, had a very noisy thunderstorm last night, it woke me up. That and heavy rain. First we have had for ages .
Horse aw- sometimes I think we worry more than them. DD1 wanted me to go with her, DD2 really didn't . Hope it goes well.
Cake - silly me , of course ! I may come back and ask then , if they go .
How is the throat? May be a good day to do little and enjoy the rest .
Need to get myself up and going , this should be the last busy, tiring day (fingers crossed!)
hoping you all have a good day

bookbook · 17/08/2017 07:59

x post - congratulations to your DS !!

Chasingsquirrels · 17/08/2017 08:19

Great news Horsemad Smile

SelenaValentina · 17/08/2017 09:19

That's so brilliant Horse. When my son phoned me with his results (years ago) I was just getting off a train. The whole carriage seemed to know Blush and were congratulating me. Like yours, he seemed so laid back about it all!!

Today has seen heavy rain, bright sun so far. Had a lovely day with 2 friends on the edge of the Lake District yesterday, stayed fine until drive home. This afternoon has to be spent doing serious clearing out as I've just been faffing at it last few days.

Enjoy the day everyone and keep/get well, especially cake and juan.

Horsemad · 17/08/2017 09:57

Thanks ladies, I can't tell you how relieved I am after a stressful experience with DS1 two years ago.

He got AAB, so is very pleased with himself.

I can't stop weeping, I am SO emotional; soppy thing I am!! Happy tears though Smile

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 17/08/2017 11:18

Oh that is brilliant. Just got in from play gym and come to see if there was news Blush

Booked Peppa Pig world tickets for Saturday - eeek! I'm not a fan, but DS desperate!

Willow2017 · 17/08/2017 12:07

Horse
Thats great news. Well done him. (passes a tissue)

Lovely day here (so far Wink ) been for my coffee and a read of my book. Am reading 'Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children' anyone else read it? Bought it on impulse when I had a money off coupon in WH SMiths. I had to force myself to stop and move off my butt in the cafe to get on with the shopping just at the exciting bit. Its weird and wonderful just up my street Smile Might finish it later.

Got a ton of shopping. Need to just put the fruit and veg away now, I hate putting shopping away.

Horsemad · 17/08/2017 13:58

Ha ha thanks Willow Smile

Just back from lunch and feeling like a nap is in order now!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 17/08/2017 19:42

Hello, had a very productive day all in all. Washing line dried, oven had cleaner in over night and now shiny, floors steam mopped etc

Doing a NT property tomorrow as DH back to work on Monday Sad

Waiting for insurance pay out and the garage man to ring and say car is sorted.

Book, I hope you and DH aren't too shattered!

horse I hope you and DS are still on cloud 9 Smile

willow I was a book addict when younger but now don't read enough.

Watching the clock from having my AB so I can have a snack Blush that's the problem of eating with DS at 5 (4:30 tonight as he was starving)

Anyone heard from magi?

bookbook · 17/08/2017 19:57

Evening all!
good going Horse s DS :) - I bet you flake out tonight ... :) But you can enjoy your staycation even more now! - Well , before fretting about them going away , anyway .
Selena the Lakes are lovely when the sun is out. DH used to go every 6 weeks on business, and it was always nice. We went on three separate times for 3/4 day short breaks - rained every time seemingly! Faffing is good though - gives you a chance to mull over stuff .
Willow - snap - I hate putting shopping away too. I now make DH do it - he mutters ,and I just tell hi he has 40 odd years of putting stuff away to catch up on :) Not a fantasy reader , but I do read everyday still, just not as much as when I was selling them . I slob read mostly now Blush
Cake - weary, but we got a fair bit done - all the really heavy duty stuff anyway. Another day yet mind you, but not maybe until next week. There was so much to do DD has a decorator coming to do the kitchen/conservatory thank goodness . Its tangerine at the moment.....
I am off for a hot soak and then some chocolate tonight
No, not seen magi - she must be back from holiday by now.
Hope Drama is okay too

Willow2017 · 17/08/2017 20:57

Evening all.
Homework done, packed lunches done and plonked on sofa watching James Martin.

Got pile of washing trying to guilt trip me into sorting it out. It can wait till morning😀

Book talk about my dream job working in a book shop! I would never get anything done though, all those books to read 😀 glad you are having a break from d.i.y. gets a bit annoying after a while.

Gone mad and got out the nail varnish this week as my nails are all long for once. Were deep red today they are royal blue. What a faff it is don't know how long I will be bothered enough to do it.

Horsemad · 17/08/2017 21:18

Ha book, I bet I will too - once I have collected DS after his clubbing. Grin It was lovely to see DS and comrades setting off on their night out. They'll all soon be gone in different directions to start their uni adventure.

Cake, that was a productive day indeed, send some motivation my way please!

Willow, how did your DS2 enjoy today?

Willow2017 · 17/08/2017 21:23

Horse
He is doing fine thanks. Big change but he is enjoying it but thank crunchie its Friday tomorrow as I am the one thats knackered Smile

Oh 'taxi of mum' I see, I dont want to even think about that when mine are older!

Horsemad · 17/08/2017 21:31

Yup, Mum's Taxi indeed! Wink I don't mind really - we live in the back of beyond so I'm used to it.

bookbook · 17/08/2017 22:00

When does clubbing though? ,hopefully not too late for you!
I didn't really do the Mum taxi much. DD1 did go out, but DH was often away, and I had DD2 much younger. DH used to say - don't ring, we will pay for a taxi Grin
Willow - I loved it, and had lots of lovely regular customers too - I am still in touch with a few. I did read a lot of books that I personally wouldn't have tried , if I hadn't been reading them so I could recommend ( or not) . The DIY is one of the things we have always done - just maybe not quite as intensively as these last few days . Nice that we can, and DD doesn't have to spend a fortune .
Well, I think that is me done. Hoping to get to the allotment tomorrow at last - probably knee deep in weeds!
Sleep tight all
Thoughts and Prayers

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 18/08/2017 06:19

Morning all. 6AM start!

I'm nor relishing the thought of mum's taxi!

Still feeling shattered, going to do washing before we go out and nothing else.

Have a great Friday all.

bookbook · 18/08/2017 08:30

Morning all
I too was up early - and no need

Off for a shower, then get some much needed bits done around the house , washing load to put in. Then a trip to the allotment.
Hope everyone is okay

SelenaValentina · 18/08/2017 08:38

Good wild, heavy downpours, day here - perfect to have my hair done! Then meeting friend for coffee - then onward and outward (ie to skip) with clearout.

DH was brill diy-er, book. Guess I'm going to have to learn.

Mum's taxi - you then get the learning to drive, the 'discussions' around own/share car, the concern/terror when they take friends. Great being a parent, as someone said to me years ago, you lose your peace of mind. But gain great joy too.

Have a super Friday.

Willow2017 · 18/08/2017 08:51

Morning all
Was raining first thing but sun out now so fingers crossed.

Need to get shower then attack the mountain of clean washing!

Half day for kids today and working this afternoon. MIght do some baking with kids keep them out of mischief Smile

Cake have a nice NT day.

OOh driving lessons! Was talking to my aunt about that when we visited in the hols, no way am I taking ds1 out in a car we would kill each other by the end of the street! His dad can have that 'pleasure'. God better start saving up for lessons!

Oh thanks for the reminder Selena need to book hair apps for ds's have tried all week and never got through yet!

Horsemad · 18/08/2017 11:25

book, 4.30am pick up time! Shock

I slept beforehand and went back to bed when I got in!

Up and showered now (me, not DS2! Hmm) so ready to start making uni prep lists - I love a good list Grin

Selena, I hope your clearout goes well. I have a mammoth job with DS2, do all boys hoard stuff? DH is just as bad...

Willow driving lessons are so expensive and DS was having 2hr ones so he could get lots of in town practice. He then abandoned lessons to concentrate on A level revision. In truth, I think he just doesn't really like driving. Not sure when he'll resume now as he's said he doesn't want to do it in his uni city.
Maybe an intensive course might be the answer?

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 18/08/2017 15:45

Hello, well that was a really good day, but apart from snow we have had all four seasons!

Now home with my slippers on watching Escape to the Continent Blush

Hope your hair didn't get ruined in the rain Selena

Horse ouch! Did you go out in your PJs?

Willow what are you baking? I'm willing to do taste testing Grin

book hope you've had a quieter day today after yesterday's DIY

Catch up with you all tonight.

bookbook · 18/08/2017 16:28

Afternoon all
Just having 15 minutes sit down with a coffee.
Selena - isn't that what hair appointments are for? :)
I am a reluctant DIY-er - ( we had no money for a very long time for any help,) you learn to do things, and quite often better than others will do. I can do most things, though I am rubbish at sawing . Now there are power drills, I can use the power screwdriver pretty well too. DH taught both DD's as they grew up - both are good when necessary..
Horse - Shock - you don't sleep before, and not enough sleep after, but I think maybe he deserved to let his hair down after that!
DD was the only one in her accommodation who went to uni with a proper basic tool kit, recipes in laminated sheets , a decent first aid kit ( she was so Blush when I put a packet of condoms in there ..) plus the other usual paraphernalia .
Willow hope you won the clean washing battle !
Cake - nothing like a bit of escapist TV to round off a nice day.
I have been relatively busy today. I went and picked loads of veg this morning after hanging washing out. It started to rain, but luckily blew over quickly. Been to the shops, ironed , made up beds for tomorrow night -( we are having DGS while DD goes to Prom in the Park, they are then coming back to sleep at ours.)
slung a chicken in the oven for tea. Just need to prep up some veg, then I can slow down for the rest of the day. :)
Driving lessons is a real pain. DH was insistent that both DD's learnt early. That way it was done and out the way. For both of them , we bought a little run around for me, insured them on it to learn to drive, then transferred car to them when they passed their tests. They did a lot of extra practice with DH in the car, alongside lessons with an instructor before their tests. It was very important for both when it came to getting jobs.

Willow2017 · 18/08/2017 18:29

Evening all.

Sorry Cake kids werent up for baking, we played games instead! WIll let you know when we do though Smile

Weather wise been lovely until almost 4 then a quick shower then lovely again....till I 'forced' DS1 to put out a small washing. 3 minutes later he came thundering downstairs yelling "Its raining" We were very wet by the time it took us to get about 8 things in! Now its just dull and windy and chilly. Summer? phtttt!

Book yes I won and I am not going near kids room to see what they have done with it!
