Hugs Selena x

bookbook · 11/08/2017 20:15

Cake - tonsilitis is horrid - DD1 has had it twice, so take care and hope it starts at least to feel better.
Chasing - fingers crossed. It is recommended not to cut into the hard wood of lavender but ... DH managed to totally chop mine down to the ground ( strimmer incident ...) and next year , it came back - so I suspect it will be fine . It all looks very tidy :)
wow Selena - cooking on gas! - skip tomorrow- I thought they started knocking down when you went away on hols?
Talking of being old - we never complained about sore throats unless it was really bad - we had flowers of sulphur blown down our throat Grin

Chasingsquirrels · 11/08/2017 20:22

I know all the lavender rules, but it's right next to the path and needs to go back hard.
I do it every year, some harder than others, this is maybe particularly hard!
I've lost a few over the years and just fill the gaps where needed, but most of the original plants are still there.
I'll wait and see - and maybe get some plug lavender plants growing just in case Smile

SelenaValentina · 11/08/2017 20:47

The skip tomorrow book is to try and clear out the garage - ha ha ha ha - so the hot water thing can go in maybe end of next week (help!) and then the blokes have some space to work in there whilst I'm swanning off.

As it's here for the week I'm hoping to whizz in loads too from the house. DS is in charge of clearing garage. I vaguely remember being able to drive the car into it, that was in the dim and distant past though.

I can remember my mum walking in and out of my bedroom to ask if I was really sure I definitely wanted her to call the GP and me trying to croak yes .. now .. please. In our house Indian Brandee cured absolutely everything internally, Dettol sorted out external stuff.

How did we survive? Grin

Willow2017 · 11/08/2017 22:05

selena Wow busy day. Think I need a selena in my house 😀
The flapjack is a bit thin I need a smaller pan but nice. Crispy on outside chewy in middle.

book Flowers of sulphur?!!!

bookbook · 11/08/2017 22:25

Chasing - you are well sorted then :)
Selena - good luck with that! Garages are like the tardis - you will probably need an extra skip Grin
Willow - a really fine bright yellow powder . ( I now know ground up rock basically!) A little pile on a waxed bit of paper. Open wide, powder blown into mouth and throat .Eye watering .... I tell you what though - we didn't have many sore throats !
Well, bed beckons here
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 12/08/2017 06:40

Yikes, i'm glad to be living in the relatively modern times Wink My mum would have us gargling TCP for sore throats.

I'm feeling very rough, but we've got to go ahead with our Ikea plan and poor DH had a horrid night so have left him to sleep as long as possible. He was a star last night and did as much as he could. I know it's normal and what people do, but when you've been in a marriage where it doesn't happen, you appreciate it so much when it does!

I have a lavender that needs trimming quite vigorously too. It's next to the footpath too. Also prepared to buy a new one if needs be.

Good luck with the sorting Selena it sounds like you are powering along at great pace! Where are you going to while they bash and break? Hope it is somewhere nice and relaxing.

drama I hope you and your feet survived London!

Have a good Saturday all, will check in later.

bookbook · 12/08/2017 08:30

Morning all
Cake - tough Ikea visit when you are feeling poorly - on a Saturday too! Hope you get it done and back easily. Your poor DH - he has insomnia doesn't he ? and it's strange isn't, how many horrible husbands are around. I count my blessings too :)
I am just having a lazyish morning - a bit of tidying and such. Then off to have a look around our little monthly auction. May garden or go to the allotment if we get back early enough .
Hope everyone has a good day

Horsemad · 12/08/2017 08:31

Good Morning All Smile

You have all been very busy, I feel a bit boring by comparison, just work, work and more work.

Still, it's the weekend and I need to hit the shops before going to watch my DS play footy this afternoon.

I'd best get up then! Been awake since 6 reading on here...

Has anyone heard from Juan?

I too need some new lavender plants - 13 in fact, so off to do that tomorrow.

Chasingsquirrels · 12/08/2017 14:40

Hope Ikea okay Cake.
Have a nice weekend without work Horsemad.

Just had my hair trimmed, got there, she said how are you and I started crying - good start! Just came out of nowhere. Was okay then sobbed and sobbed when I got home. So rather than come into the house and cry some more I pressure washed the front path now that the lavender has been cut back.

I'd just gone for a dry cut and it was all flicked out so she styled it a bit with straighteners. I've never had that done before, and my hair is basically straight anyway, but obviously not that straight - doesn't look like me!

Willow2017 · 12/08/2017 17:00

squirrels ((hugs)) hope you felt better after beating the patio into submission.

Well today hasn't gone as planned took kids for their haircut but she was off sick and other stylist hadn't room today. Went into town to try Barnet but no space there either. So went for coffee and shopping. Kids are eating me out of house and home!

Sorted out my recipe file and threw some stuff out I never make. See how long it stays tidy😀

Now just need to tackle my desk and Hoover.

cake hope you survived ikea with your sanity intact.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 12/08/2017 17:15

Hello all. We had a surprisingly good visit to ikea. DS was happy to go into the crèche thingy and in the 40 minutes we found everything we needed, got him and went to get lampshades and then we had lunch. By that point I was done in. Came to bed and spent 3hrs here. Then made eggs and toast and back in bed.

Book I'm so grateful for DH - he does have moments where I resent that I never get a lie in, but I know he doesn't want to be awake till 3am or whatever either so we muddle through. He came in and built all the furniture, put up 2 new lamp shades and kept an eye on the children!

Squirrel I'm sorry you're struggling today. I cried in my toast this morning as my best friend was collecting her mum from the airport this morning and I haven't seen mine in two years. You have so much more reason to cry! I never look like myself when my hair has been done. I like mine straightened, but rarely find the time for it.

Horse I long for boring at the moment. Hope you've had a good day.

Willow, that is a right pain about haircuts. Do they desperately need them or can it hang on till next e holidays are a very costly affair. Lunch for 4 with 2 puddings were £20 today - couldn't believe it!

Was toying with texting juan today. Will do so now.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 12/08/2017 17:18

Bloody technology.... Willow, that should read can their haircuts hang on till next weekend....

SelenaValentina · 12/08/2017 18:48

I'm off to stay with friend in Lincs cake w/e 9th-11th, then down to Suffolk which will feel strange without DH but nice to see friends and think of kitchen being bashed.

Odd isn't it how the tears just suddenly overflow squirrels. At the moment I find telling people who don't know sets me off. Comforting shoulders of RA's yesterday too. Just miss that totally. Sad

The skip appeared at 9 30, I'd been up since 6! DS decided to take advantage of the lovely day and worked like the clappers. Still stuff in garage but at least can walk around!

Love to juan and everyone too. horse, boring seems very attractive at moment, don't knock it, though would like trip to IKEA just to mooch.

I'm not talking about hair. Mine looks like a haystack and I keep forgetting to phone and book. It's short and very straight - I use curling tong (when can be bothered), straighteners totally redundant for me!

Willow2017 · 12/08/2017 19:06

Cake ds2 isn't bad but ds1 has fringy thing going over to one side which is now hanging to his nose! I have threatened to trim it but he isn't having it😀 used to cut their hair when they were younger for years.

My washing machine is acting up a bit it's working now but was very noisy and not going on to spin from wash. Fingers crossed it's ok just what I dont need.

Sewing splits in kids pj seams. Wish they would tell me I just find things when doing the washing!

bookbook · 12/08/2017 19:27

Evening all
Horse - I think you may be reading more into my life than is truly there :)
oh Chasing - I think that will happen for a long time yet. (hugs). New hairstyles are quite odd aren't they? I always go home after the hairdressers and immediately wash it :) Mine is short, very thick , wiry and wavy. I leave it to its own devices !
Willow - what a time waste - can I suggest a grip Grin. There is never a good time for a washing machine to go ,hope it was just a blip .
Cake - that is an amazing amount done considering how you must be feeling -
Selena - sounds like a really good day up at 6! that is a bit early for me :)
Nothing much doing at the auction, so came home, had lunch and popped off to do some weeding at the allotment. Had a slightly strange text from DD 1 - where are you? I had seen and replied to a message on fb seeing if we wanted to pop over for a BBQ - I said yes , thinking Sunday , but she had sent the message yesterday for today . Got home, washed and changed and went and spent a couple of hours there. (Her best friend from uni was up to visit, and we get on very well, so glad to see her)
Ready for a bath now , and will watch some of the athletics tonight

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 12/08/2017 20:42

Hi all. juan replied: thank you, please send my regards back. Home early Monday.

Think they've found it tough.

Selena you've done so well!

Oh no willow, not the washing machine!

That's sounds lovely book, if a bit of a surprise bbq. Hope Johnson Thompson does well in the high jump. I can't understand that or pole vaulting at all - backwards over a high pole???

I'm in bed with a bit of Choc and nothing to watch on the i player so going to read a chapter and then try to sleep some more.

Chasingsquirrels · 12/08/2017 22:27

How annoying on the hair cuts Willow, I used to do my boys when they were younger too - but just a no. 5 all over. ExH takes them now, but they both need doing atm.

I don't think I like mine straightened! Or maybe it's the crying I've done today that's making me look a mess!

Sounds like a productive day Cake, hope you get a decent night sleep. Hugs for you, it's hard being a long way from your mum.

Lol at the bbq timing book, sounds like you had a good time.

I've been over to a friends for a bbq tonight along with another couple of friends - so 2 couples both with kids, and me. I had a lovely evening - but it's still lonely, and the coming home on my own doesn't get any easier.

Chasingsquirrels · 12/08/2017 22:28

I knew I'd missed someone, realised it was Selen as I pressed post!
You'll have to wave to me on your way through to Suffolk x

bookbook · 12/08/2017 22:56

well, I enjoyed the exciting end to the athletics !
Sleep tight all
Thoughts and Prayers

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 13/08/2017 06:47

argh! 5AM this morning Angry but he did sleep soundly

Looks like a lovely day. Will aim to take children out and then just flop for the rest of the day.

Have a good day all.

Thinking of you squirrel

bookbook · 13/08/2017 09:04

Morning all
oh Cake - and still feeling rotten I bet ..
Lovely sunny day here.
Just getting ready to go and do my volunteer stint in the little horticultural shop, then home for a bacon sandwich at lunch.
Need to get ready for tomorrow - helping DD1 and son in law painting/cleaning /sorting out some bits and pieces at their old house, ready for it going up for sale . So the afternoon is loading up the car with everything we can think of to take .
Poor Juan - sounds tough atm - and Chasing - boys back today I assume?
Have a good day all

Horsemad · 13/08/2017 09:06

Sympathies, it was a rubbish night's sleep for me too Cake. Lots of Brew strong coffee needed this morning!

Willow, I hope the w/machine is sorted; I always dread mine going wrong, would rather do without TV than washing machine!

Thinking of you Chasing Flowers sometimes seemingly innocuous things can set you off. That was certainly my experience when my DDad died. And like Selena, I found it hard telling people who didn't know when I bumped into them later on. Sad

Are you going anywhere near Scampton Selena? They have their air show that weekend, so it will be busy in the skies and on the roads!

The athletics was amazing wasn't it book? I am so pleased for TeamGB, sad to see Bolt go out like that though Sad

Chasingsquirrels · 13/08/2017 09:30

Too early cake, but at least sound until then.

Boys back Tuesday evening, then with me for 8 days, then their dad for 10 days.
I'm working intermittent when they aren't with me, no plans for next week as yet - was thinking a short weekend break but haven't done anything about it. Wouldn't want to go far but somewhere with things to do/see. We've done a few days - week away in the UK most years, usually May half term and always had a nice time - firstly with their dad, then with my mum, then with John. Be just the three of us if we do anything. We've also had a few 1/2 nights away in a travelodge with a friend and her kids - usually with a theme park or museum trip and an outdoors visit somewhere. They were always fun as the kids played and we chatted.

Horsemad · 13/08/2017 09:45

Where are you thinking of going Chasing?
