Jane sorry your dad isn't too well. Hope you are OK.

Much better weather here today thank goodness. Blister plasters have been applied & the feet are good to go.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 10/08/2017 10:57

Morning all.
jane hope your dad is better soon. It's always hard to see parents struggling but take care of you too.

Pottering morning here. Washing out dry stuff sorted (ad infinitim) stripped my bed. Finally got round to a shower and grabbed ds2 shampoo instead of shower gel 😀 so now I smell of strawberies😀
Having a coffee fefore I tackle the bathroom 😲 need to go to chemist for my antihistamines before I scratch my hands to the bone.

Sunny but windy here. Trying to think of something to do to get out the house😉

cake my room was like that when I did kids room and they have a huge room full of stuff. Nightmare

Hope the weather is better today drama

bookbook · 10/08/2017 19:59

Evening all
Drama - all good then - hope it was good day
willow - did you get out - smelling of strawberries? ( they are such an artificial smell too!)
All decorating seems to equal a mess elsewhere in my experience
had a busy day , and it has been warm!
All morning at the allotment .
Lunch .
Ironing
Changed bedding , all washed and dried
Sorted shallots for storage while listening to GQT
Tea was made with fresh tomatoes and peppers from the greenhouse, along with courgettes. Fresh raspberries and blackcurrants for pudding. DH went to get a bit of ice cream to go with that. No ice cream , so I got half a magnum!
Just settling down for the evening to watch the athletics , and do some crotchet

SelenaValentina · 10/08/2017 20:25

Jane hope all OK Flowers

Sounds like a good day for most? Lovely day here again, obviously bedding is on the top of all our lists! I think I've sorted kitchen appliances locally too, just going to double check and wallow in excitement. The extremely helpful young man informed me that the 'trend' is now not for double ovens, but microwave/grill/oven over oven as people finding much more practical. So I can have one of those clever doors that tucks itself under!

And .... got email to say Probate stuff approved and ready for the Oath. Only sent it last Friday! I'm giving myself pat on the back and can't quite believe I must have got it all right!! Was going to go to Liverpool to 'swear' but going to local solicitors instead as cheaper than rail fare. Although I would like to go to Liverpool soon as haven't been for 50 years, guess it's changed a bit.

Have a good, restful evening everyone. I have the joy of the Council picking up 2 units tomorrow morning, hope they're not too late as I keep tripping over/bashing into the stuff I've moved to give them a straight line through the lounge. The cats are bemused. Confused Confused

Willow2017 · 10/08/2017 20:59

Evening all

Didnt get out after all but pottered on doing housework and slobbing alternatively. Smile

DS just came in with a load of big blueberries, letting him have most of them as he kept giving me them previously.

Need to make my bed before I forget!

Got kids haircuts tomorrow, swimming and taking stuff to skip. How exciting.

Getting reved up for school next week...actually was in a funny mood last night late on after kids were askeep over ds2 going to high school, silly old fool. When they did their induction days they looked so small and he is such a lovely caring boy, strong sense of right and wrong and easily upset due to experiences in primary. I just hope he is able to hold his own. If he gets bullied by any of the brats that did it in primary I will be going in all guns blazing from the off! He is quite confident about it and I will of course not let him know I worry, I will just wait until he goes and then have a quiet blub to myself Smile Where did the time go?

bookbook · 10/08/2017 21:11

Selena - exciting - my sis in law has that set up, and is really pleased .
Gosh - full marks on probate -:) all going so smoothly is nice .
Willow , it comes around quickly - It doesn't get any easier. When we took DD1 to uni , I was quietly sobbing on the way home. DH stopped and made me drive the first hour , so I had to concentrate on something else. It sort of worked... I have photos of all their first days . They do look little don't they.

Willow2017 · 10/08/2017 21:13

Oh for goodness sake tomorrow is friday!
Cancel all that!

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 10/08/2017 21:46

I said on my FB today that I can't believe it's only Thursday - should be September Grin

Good day here (mostly). DD's room painted, now just need to make the trip for furniture on Saturday.

Hoping to have a normal-ish day tomorrow, go out with the children and see friends, collect the 3rd car seat to be sorted for next week and a food order too. Children are hoping for a midnight feast tomorrow as DD is sleeping in with DS tonight - only if they behave!!! (and at about 9pm)

I'm off to bed now. Hoping you all have a good night. Pleased all going well with the paperwork and kitchen Selena

Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

Chasingsquirrels · 11/08/2017 07:51

Jane, best wishes for your dad and I hope you are feeling better.

Drama hope you are refreshed after your week and have had a good time, and your feet are okay.

Cake, sounds like good work on dd's room and hope the car hunt goes well.

Willow, I can't work out what day you thought it was!
When is back to school for yours?
I walked ds2 up the road and across the main road at the top for a sleepover with a friend last night abd he said "you don't have to come, I'll be crossing the road by myself in a few weeks" - as that's where the school bus picks up.

Selena, that's good that your probate was okay. Interesting to know about being able to do the oath at a solicitors.
I'm going to look at John's tax return information this weekend while the boys are away.

book, half a magnum on your fruit made me smile.

We had a lazy morning yesterday, then I went info town for an eye appointment and the boys tagged along and mooched round the shops while I had it.
Prescription was improved a bit but eyes dry so going to trial next level up of lenses but monthlies rather than dailies - which will be cheaper than I'm currently paying. I do like the convenience of dailies though.
Also getting a new free pair of glasses (can have one every 2 years on the scheme) and buying another pair with reactive lenses for on holiday etc. So back next Thursday to have the lenses fitted etc and pick up the new glasses.

Been off this week as well, back on Monday but just flexing time over the rest of the school holidays as and when the boys are home. So full days when they are with their dad.

bookbook · 11/08/2017 08:59

Morning all
lovely and sunny here .
Just about to go to the allotment - DH is dropping me off on the way to taking car for MOT. I am doing stuff for the committee, not 'doing' this morning.
Chasing - dry eye ? I was told I had that when I had trouble with my contacts - I was told I was a 'Lady of a Certain Age" - Hmm I stopped wearing them before dailies came in - I had gas permeable ones. I just gave up and wear glasses full time.
It is a big leap not walking with your DC to school. First time mine went, I trailed a long way behind so they couldn't see me ( not quite dodging behind trees) - not sure what I would have done if anything had happened mind !
Have a good day everyone

Chasingsquirrels · 11/08/2017 09:14

Optician said eyes were a bit dry and would benefit from a better quality lense (mine are the cheapest and never been a problem before, but I have noticed they aren't quite as comfy as they used to be over the last however long, and particularly towards the end of the day).
They have basic, medium and premium ranges, so I'm going to try the medium range monthlies which are £15pm v £35pm for the medium range dailies (I have an astigmatism which makes them more expensive). I currently pay £28 for the basic range monthlies.
Thb I think I'll probably revert to dailies and just go up a bracket, but I'll see how the trial goes.
I've had them since I was 12, I don't want to revert to glasses (throws little tantrum!).

Willow2017 · 11/08/2017 09:28

Morning
Raining here boo!

squirreks I thought today was Saturday! Kids go back to school Tuesday noooooo.. back to school mornings what a thought. I am convinced we will all sleep in first day😀

Got job centre this morning. Need to attack my desk and clear it up got some primary school stuff to get rid of and new diary to fill in.

Chasingsquirrels · 11/08/2017 09:37

Tuesday!! That's far too soon.

Ds2 starts Monday 4th and Ds1 is back Tuesday 5th - the new yr7's get the first day there on their own.

I've not actually walked them to school for years, used to drop them on my way to work and they'd walk together on my day off, when ds1 went to secondary ds2 went into yr 4 and walked himself.
But the primary school in IN the village with just a quiet road to cross, whereas the secondary bus goes from the other side of the main road at the top of the village - often the only time they can cross is when the bus comes and stops the flow of rush hour traffic, it's a small village but the main road for this area into Cambridge.

Willow2017 · 11/08/2017 18:03

Afternoon all.

Been baking with ds2 our fav choc banana bread is cooling (ok we have had a taste 😀)and got cherry flapjacks in the oven. Going to slice bb and freeze individual slices for packed lunches save time. Been trawling Pinterest for recipes of healthy stuff for another time. 😀
Might make some scones too

Hope you are all having good sunny days. Rain stopped and sun came out but dark clouds rolling in.

bookbook · 11/08/2017 18:36

Evening everybody .
Well, had a fairly busy day all told .
Morning was allotment and popping to the shops.
This afternoon I did some gardening as it has been dry - deadheading and all sorts of bits and bobs
Popped out after a coffee to see an old customer for half an hour - she is 82 -ish and bright as a button, she likes a bit of a chat !
Willow - I do banana cake, I'm presuming its basically the same with added chocolate? I only make it when I have some over ripe bananas though - it doesn't happen often!
Tea out of the way - DH is off out tonight, so an evening with my crotchet and favourite TV !

Willow2017 · 11/08/2017 18:58

Book
Probably much the same. We had a bunch of bananas all going off together pretty fast to use up.
I expect I had better organise some kind of tea time seems to have run away with us today.

Chasingsquirrels · 11/08/2017 19:00

Lovely day here.
Collected ds2 from his sleepover and roused ds1 and his pal at about 11.30am having work up at 4am and heard them chatting and told them to go to sleep.
Cut back my lavender hedge, somewhat severely! Got the boys to help clear all the cuttings.
Then met a friend at local NT place and had a wander around and out to the woodland area, kids all had a good time.
Home and boys have gone to their dad's till Tuesday evening.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 11/08/2017 19:10

Hello

sorry if I don't remember anything! To start the weekend, I've got myself 80 penicillin tablets for tonsillitis [shocked]. Pleased I rung up to get an appointment as I was going to leave it, but no, 10 day course.

Had a long day of walking and playing at a NT place too/picnic etc so ready for bed since 3pm really

Looking very tidy Squirrel

Willow, I freeze banana muffins every time I make a loaf, means they're in a ready to grab portion. Ours back on 5/9 too....

Thinking of you all xxx

DH has died and MN Aunties are keeping things ticking over (Juan)
Chasingsquirrels · 11/08/2017 19:19

Ouch Cake, hope they start working and you start feeling better soon x

Ds1 says I've killed the lavender ....... he might not be wrong!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 11/08/2017 19:53

New name that should hopefully be the same on all devices. Enjoy your evening book - think we cross posted x

SelenaValentina · 11/08/2017 19:59

Oooh Cake, tonsillitis is agony. I had it when 18 for first and only time and presumed I was dying. First time I had antibiotics and they worked like a miracle. Guess I'm showing my age - also had to paint tonsils with a mixture of arsenic and ipecacuanha as GP said that would stop it returning. He was right (touch wood!). Not helped though by friend's medical student brother telling me seriously that he hoped I hadn't used too much as it would be forming a ball in my stomach and I would die in 2 weeks. Bet he turned into an inspiring doctor!

I chopped my hedge back drastically at end of last year, squirrels, thinking it would never recover. But it has.

Banana cake, chocolate banana cake - well, maybe. Cherry flapjack willow yes, yes please.

Units collected 8 45 a.m., ordered kitchen appliances, swore legally so probate sent off, had shingles jab. Then had emotional time watching Red Arrows land and then talking to (and hugging) some of team about DH - he helped organise when they flew into local airport and they've been very supportive.

Early start awaiting skip arrival tomorrow so not long before I hit the sack either, quite an emotional yet successful day, one way and another. Smile

Willow2017 · 11/08/2017 20:00

cake ouch sounds nasty. Hope you are better soon plenty icr cream 😀

Hope the lavender is ok squirrels
