Shagged my boss

...Actually, my bosses boss Shock. Last night we went for a "quick pint" which turned into an extremely drunken session and we ended up in bed. I'm so ashamed. I've fancied him for a while and he's a really nice guy but never thought for one minute anything would happen. Certainly not hopping into bed with him without a few dates first!! What do I do before I next see him, call him and just check everything's cool and that things won't be awkward?? Or just act like it never happened??

At my American workplace, any relationships of a sexual or romantic nature between colleagues must be disclosed to HR and senior management, and anyone who is involved in a sexual or romantic relationship with someone they are "laddered" to (boss, boss's boss, any relationship where one person could have power over another to hire/fire) will have one member of the couple transferred to another department so there's no longer a hiring/firing harassment possibility.

I can only imagine such a meeting with HR would be extremely awkward -- but having sex with a co-worker in my office and not reporting would be grounds for disciplinary measures up to termination.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 07/07/2017 20:27

I don't want to kill your post sex with boss buzz but it's probably best to think about what you want from this. Decide if you want to laugh it off and never go there again, be his occasional fuck buddy or pursue a relationship.
I have a suspicion that you're a bit in love with him so reign that in a bit if possible Grin

If he doesn't want the same as you, don't settle for him dicking you about (pardon the pun).

I think a very senior boss and an employee is a difficult dynamic.

Bear in mind- if you tell one colleague "in confidence" , the whole office will know by the end of the day.

Alisvolatpropiis · 07/07/2017 20:29

Womb

That doesn't happen in the U.K. Our human and employee rights are bit sturdier than those afforded to you in the US.

Forkrightorf · 07/07/2017 21:03

My DH shagged his boss and then married her too Grin

LoveDeathPrizes · 07/07/2017 21:14

I shagged my boss. It was the best time! Just be normal while you weigh up how things have changed. Hard to plan until you know.

Does bosses boss have a friend? Asking for a friend... 😂

RossGellersteeth · 07/07/2017 22:12

Did you have to do the awkward waking up in the morning together thing?

Ohhhh that brought back some memories of my younger days. The utter horror of the next morning, even worse when you both know this is NEVER happening again. It always ended with a "So I'll give you a call?", both knowing that call ain't ever happeningGrin

Piesy · 08/07/2017 01:10

Bet there's a spring in your step today. You go, girlfriend! Grin

user1486956786 · 08/07/2017 02:26

Been there done that.... twice!! Different jobs... first one became boyfriend for a while, second one, we have been together, and as good as married for 5 years.

How many makes you serial boss shagger?? I think 3 or upwards....

user1486956786 · 08/07/2017 02:27

PS the second one - I cried in the shower the next day for a solid hour and rang a friend saying I've bloody done it again!!! He loves that part of story 🙄

Piesy · 08/07/2017 03:25

I really enjoyed one office I worked in. My friend pointed out they'd need to change my job description soon Blush

Colleagues with benefits? Could be a proud new British export 😄

HollyBollyBooBoo · 08/07/2017 08:03

I shagged my boss

Married him for 10 years

Divorced him (no relevance to him being my boss when we met I'm sure!)

christmaswreaths · 08/07/2017 11:16

I love the phrase "colleagues with benefits" Grin

I met my Dh at work (he was my boss but when we started seeing each other he was a colleague), and before him had a fling with a colleague.

The boss thing could be awkward but it does happen a lot... 😁

Lallypopstick · 08/07/2017 12:35

The word shag / shagged is so awful.

krustykittens · 08/07/2017 12:46

Shagged my boss, and married him. Still together 20 years later with two kids. Considering most people meet their partners at work I would hate to live in America, where everyone needs to sing everything in triplicate before they can have a relationship and let every member of staff int he company know about it before they can snog. Takes the spontaneity out of it, no? You sound like you had a great time, OP, and who knows where it might lead?

LesisMiserable · 08/07/2017 12:47

Shagging the boss is surely a great British tradition which is why its the plotline of about 98% of all chick lit . So now it goes either way, he fucks you off for Sophie in accounts in the style of say Daniel Cleaver or you live happily ever after, cliches abound! Grin

HarrietSchulenberg · 08/07/2017 12:58

A few years ago I worked for a high street bank in the UK. If colleagues were shagging, partnered or married, one of them (usually the more Junior of the pair) had to move to a different department to avoid potential loss of financial integrity. It might have changed since then, but there were lots of couples spread throughout the company.

Not seen that in any other workplace, though.

Good luck, OP.
