New thread :). Thought I'd start this one like I ended the last one - Bertie crashed out after a busy day's mischief making.

Birding? Girding fgs😀

Chasingsquirrels · 25/05/2017 08:58

Lol. My lawn - well entire back garden, but that's another day (month (year)) - needs cutting. Ds1 is meant to be on the case, but it takes a lot of nagging. Maybe I'll do it today.
My front garden on the other hand is a joy at this time of year, I'll post a picture later.

UnbornMortificado · 25/05/2017 09:01

Found you all again.

Just marking my place I'll go catch up.

Chasingsquirrels · 25/05/2017 10:14

Call at 9.30 to say car sorted and he'd come and pick me up. If I'd known I'd have been sorted for work instead of still in my dressing gown 😁.
Lovely day to not be in work though, going to strim all the weeds at the side of the garage when I've hung the washing.

And the post included a cheque for the Scours group which I am treasurer of - £5k from a local charitable trust! I had no idea it was coming, whether GSL does?? Very nice surprise for the group!

My front garden, the lavender hedge alongside the path will be in full bloom soon.

Omg it's so hot! Not used to it😀 got halfway down lawn with first cut and had to come in and get vest top and hat on! And slathered in Sun cream😀 I would steal a pair of ds' s shorts but I would scare myself if I looked in the mirror😀

Having a Cuppa and will force
myself to carry on.

Willow2017 · 25/05/2017 10:20

X posted Squirrels that looks lovely puts my weed fest to shame but thankfully I don't have a front garden 😀

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 25/05/2017 10:27

Hello all. What a lovely sunny day. We had a nice evening and got some sleep which always helps.

Yes book, the weeds don't stay behind do they? You could tell me...does courgettes grow down on the ground or tying up on a reed or something? Got given one and haven't a clue Blush

Thinking of Juan, Squirrel and Selena

magimedi · 25/05/2017 10:29

Squirrels - that is lovely.

Sorry to hear about your DH, Selena.

Scorchio here - am loving it. Was on the beach yesterday & lots of people swimming!! Mad! It's only 12C & far too cold. I will start sea swimming when it reaches 16 - 17C, which won't be until the end of June.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 25/05/2017 10:29

Echt hope you're OK too.

Hi unborn how are you and baby doing? Bet the heat is fun! Hmm

DramaAlpaca · 25/05/2017 13:26

So hot & humid here, I'm not used to this. I'm hiding indoors as much as I can during the day.

Chasing your garden is so pretty.

Hope everyone has a good day.

daisychain01 · 25/05/2017 13:34

Just coming on here for a hi and a quick whinge.

I'm one of those weirdos who hate summer. I really can't stand the weather anytime from end May until end August. Heat makes me ill! The birds tweeting at 4 in the morning drive me nuts! Actually I love the birds but I wake up and then can't get back to sleep again.

I love your garden Squirrels !

I'm not jealous of you being able to get to the beach and swim in open water magi I'm confined to a 25m pool which is not as lovely as the sea, even tho much warmer!
Love to all xx

Chasingsquirrels · 25/05/2017 13:35

I haven't got out to the weeds by the garage - I somehow got distracted by cleaning out the fridge, then the kitchen in general. Not sure how that happened!

My front garden is really pretty atm, my back not so much! The area at the side with the trellis usually has the hens in, but they are free ranging in the back at the moment. Really I think it needs a complete overhaul, like most of the house probably, but I've not got the energy for that!

Chasingsquirrels · 25/05/2017 13:37

I'd go for the 25c pool over the 16-17c sea (brrrrrrrrhhhhhh).

Chasingsquirrels · 25/05/2017 18:04

Busy day cleaning and gardening, well weeding - side of garage is a lot better now, just need to spray what's left with heavy duty weedkiller.
Am knackered now, and will be even more achy tomorrow ☺.
Lovely evening, am just relaxing before I think about tea - which is probably going to be jacket potatoes which the boys will moan about. I'm using up freezer stuff etc and haven't done much shopping for a week other than milk etc (which I've just realised we need, that's a pain). Plenty left in the freezer still but I haven't taken any of it out, so no good for this evening.

Hope everyone had a good day.

bookbook · 25/05/2017 19:19

Evening all
well, home with feet up now. Gosh it has been too, too hot.
Not a fan of swimming - pool or sea. I hate the heat too , just uncomfortable even with loose cotton skirt and top.
Mostly lurked and played inside with DGS, but we did make the mad decision to go to the swings this afternoon . By the time I had slathered him and me in suncream and sorted out hat and such, i was ready to give up! We did get there and wasted money on an icecream , but he fell twice , ( new lightweight summer shoes I think, while running ...) all grit in knees and elbows . But he did get a piggy back from Grandad , which he loved , so we came home and supplied biscuits and juice, washed knees and used 'get better cream'. All well now - his knees just haven't toughened up yet for summer :)
Lovely garden Chasing - the lavender will be amazing when it all flowers- and all that work in the heat - you must be shattered
I am now going to water all my plants and potter in the shade

bookbook · 25/05/2017 23:14

Just popping in to hope everyone gets some sleep tonight.
I cracked, and put clean sheets on. Windows wide open too. It will be cool for oooh, at least 10 minutes .....
Thoughts and prayers xx

DramaAlpaca · 25/05/2017 23:35

Aww book your poor little DGS's knees. Glad the 'get better cream' worked Smile

I don't think I'll get much sleep tonight, it's just too darned hot.

NIght all x

Chasingsquirrels · 25/05/2017 23:39

Duvets off beds and just sheets on here.
I'm reading a love story, and it's a mistake.
I miss John so very much.

bookbook · 26/05/2017 08:42

Morning all
well, I did sleep - the fresh sheets worked.
Get better cream = Savlon Drama :)
Chasing - that does sound like a mistake - ((hugs))
I am sat having breakfast with the patio doors and windows open, nice breeze around my ankles .
Need to hang washing out then off to the allotment this morning , whilst it's not quite (!) so hot.
Have a good day everyone
Thinking of you Juan - sending (hugs)
Thoughts and Prayers for all xx

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 26/05/2017 11:15

Morning all

Hope that you're all doing OK. We had a bad night with DH having a coughing fit at 12:30... always something! Well at least it's half term now so just hoping to get to tea time - we're getting Chinese!

I've just about finished the cleaning so thought I'd come check in here. Ex still doing my nut over various little things but just dealing with each message and (trying to forget) forgetting about it. He just talks to me like I'm sh*t on his shoe! Angry

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2017 11:16

Ah Savlon... just thinking about the lovely smell of that stuff takes me right back to my childhood, and my children's childhoods Smile. Magic stuff indeed.

Hugs to Juan & Chasing x

Somerville · 26/05/2017 11:18

Hello you lot. I've been offline for a while but all is okay, and I hope it is with squirrels and Juan and every else too. Flowers

bookbook · 26/05/2017 14:35

Afternoon all
Cake - people like that aren't worth the head space, take care you must be tired .
Lovely to her from you Somer - pregnant and in this heat- you poor thing - hope you have your feet up.
A sit down now -I have been ironing in this heat ... madness! but I hate leaving it, it would never get done.
Can have a couple of hours peace and quiet in the cool, going to listen to some music , have a long drink and do some crotchet for Manchester.
Then , watering and sorting netting over strawberries at the allotment.
Have a nice afternoon all x

Chasingsquirrels · 26/05/2017 15:03

What a gorgeous day!

I only worked 4 hours today as did a bit extra earlier in the week.
It's my birthday tomorrow so I got cakes on the way on in, then there were less people than I expected so I've got an unopened one home with me ☺.
Then popped to the shop on the way home, got back and went to put bits in the freezer - ds1 had a water bottle in there last night and didn't fully close the door Angry.
The meat is in the 3rd drawer and seems still frozen, but 2 tubs of icecream are liquid! I'm wondering whether I can rechurn them in the icecream maker (they are shop brought not homemade) and refreeze... I think the other defrosted things are just bread based, so they should be fine

Cake grrr at your ex. Cake called for?

Unborn & Somerville nice to see you both, hope you are both okay in the heat.

The problem with my book is I'm enjoying it - but it is hitting me in the gut reading bits of it.

Chasingsquirrels · 26/05/2017 15:04

and ironing book????
