New thread :). Thought I'd start this one like I ended the last one - Bertie crashed out after a busy day's mischief making.

jane hope you are feeling better today.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 13/07/2017 12:39

Hmmm no, what sleep rub stuff?! We use Olbas and or Vicks depending on his mood etc if needed.

We're off to sunny Wales Wink. All we can afford but we've got some nice plans. Just hope that the weather plays ball.

Thinking of Selena tomorrow for DH's funeral service.

Chasingsquirrels · 13/07/2017 12:52

Wales is lovely cake, but better when the weather is good. My grandparents had a caravan on Anglesey and I spent a lot of time there a a child. Very fond memories.

Just back from sports day, went for the races - they do team stations first which the yr 6 organise then girls and boys year races. Then a picnic on the field afterwards so had a good catch up with some people.

Ds1 gone to Aldeburgh for the day with school so need to collect him later and ds2 has the 2nd showing of the school play this evening. Working tomorrow as I swapped my day off to today for sports day then going for a meal with my WAY group on Saturday night.

bookbook · 13/07/2017 13:12

Wales is lovely - we have have had a holiday in Tenby and Llandudno in the past when the DD's were younger. We only ever went abroad one year in four or five, and we have had fabulous holidays, sometimes we could only afford 'away days ' as our holiday and just tried to enjoy time together as a family. The DD's now have fond memories of these holidays.
Willow - just a shame you are not near - my autumn raspberries are just about to start fruiting, a bit too soon to the summer ones! - and you could pick as many as you wanted .
oh that sounds like a nice old fashioned sports day Chasing - neither of mine are in the least bit sporty ( neither is DH), but I was from a sporty family - we all played competitively for school tennis/badminton/hockey etc.
We stayed in Aldeburgh a couple of years ago - its a bit of an odd place I thought - lots of very, very expensive houses/shops and not many people - one of those places where there are lots of second homes I think?
Have spent ages picking pounds of currants this morning, so am going to watch some tennis before going back for round two of the picking later on this afternoon. :)

Chasingsquirrels · 13/07/2017 13:17

I think the Aldeburgh trip for yr9 is really odd, nice place for afternoon tea but for a group of marauding 14yos? Most other yr9s I've seen go to a theme park. Tomorrow is Duke of Edinburgh introduction day, then a normal week of school next week and they both finish next Friday. What happened to the last year?

Willow2017 · 13/07/2017 14:40

Cake 'Badger Skeep Balm'
uk.iherb.com/pr/badger-company-sleep-balm-lavender-bergamot-75-oz-21-g/48934

this is it but I cant remember where I got it, probably Boots!
Jealous of you going off to Wales. Its on our 'to visit' list Smile Apart from the scenery/beaches we would love to go to the Dr Who exhibition. We went to one in Newcastle years ago, it was amazing. We still have last weeks final episode to watch as we hadnt paid to watch the tv on the saturday, we could only watch BBC through snow Smile We never noticed the machine to buy a tv card when we arrived late at night. (So much for 'all inclusive', pay for your tv, pay for the pool towels, never had that last year and it wasnt even all inclusive, kids overdosed on american cartoon comedy in pm and I overdosed on NCSI and Criminal Minds Smile)

Missed the Andy M game, gutted for him. Hopefully Jo will give Venus a run for her money.

Been very good and put all the winter stuff away and sorted a shed load of washing and there is more on the line! I keep thinking I just want to run away from all the housework lazy so and so that I am. Neighbour has spent about 2 hours cleaning his car! Making me feel I should do the same when it comes back from garage....Sad

Thinking of you Selena.

Willow2017 · 13/07/2017 14:41

SLEEP BALM not Skeep balm....dearie me someone lend me a brain!

Willow2017 · 13/07/2017 14:42

And why cant I put this thread on my watch list'? I have tried everything... hopefully the new thread will work when its up and running.

JaneJeffer · 13/07/2017 15:22

Aah I had typed out a post and then lost it!

Thanks for all your good wishes, didn't get a great sleep last night either. IBS is just a nuisance. Part of my intestines isn't attached to abdomen so doctors said I will always have trouble with it. Buscopan helps a bit.

Cake I use Karvol for DS2 as he can get very chesty especially after swimming lessons. Just put contents of capsule on a tissue and leave it nearby when they are in bed.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 13/07/2017 15:28

Thanks Willow and Jane

Hmm gremlins Willow? Wink

Willow2017 · 13/07/2017 15:40

Cake Grin is it weird that I always look along the wings of a plane 'just in case' ?

bookbook · 13/07/2017 22:22

Evening all
Just put the crotchet down :)
Managed to get back to the allotment this afternoon ( short tennis games!) so finished picking all my blackcurrants, redcurrants and jostaberries . - so the freezer has been on fast freeze all day.
Willow -i'm pretty good at ignoring dust tbh Grin- it's much harder with teenagers - they are just such messy individuals ( well, mine were...)
Chasing - I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone - I think we all think that, the end of term at school, moving up schools etc really brings it home . I know it does with me and DGS - we have helped look after him since he was born , and he's a little boy now, not a toddler .
Jane - you must be tough, knowing you have no real respite and have to manage the problem as best you can .
Tomorrow I will be at the funeral of friends DH, and while there I will be thinking of Selena having to tread that path , and wishing her well at this time.
Also Juan - do hope she and her DD are coping too.
Cake - I never had much for the DD's other than Friars Balsam and Vicks,. The new thread title - should it still be similar to what Juan chose perhaps - something along the lines of MN lifesavers, thread 2 , still helping ... ? not good at this though - I'm sure someone else can think of a better one.
well, off to make myself a cocoa
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers x

SelenaValentina · 13/07/2017 22:23

Thank you for thinking about me. This time tomorrow it will be over. Not sure how many will be there as so many on holiday.

Had huge bouquet and apologies for not being able to be there from a certain flying team currently displaying at RAF Fairford. DH used to help organise food, landing, etc when they landed at local airport.

Family, friends and the lovely Canon will hopefully get us all through it. Fingers crossed I don't make a total blubbering fool of myself.

Horsemad · 13/07/2017 22:41

Thinking of you Selena, nobody will think badly of you however you are on the day. Flowers

What a nice gesture from the flying team 😉 I see them quite frequently here in Lincs.

DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2017 23:06

Selena hope it all goes as well as can be expected tomorrow. Will be thinking of you Flowers

Sorry I've disappeared off the thread for a while. I need to read back and catch up with everyone's news, but hello to all anyway.

Been feeling a bit down recently, it comes over me every so often and I tend to retreat into myself. I'm too busy and constantly tired and just a bit fed up really!

I really need a break so I am taking myself off to London for a few days next month, and I am going All By Myself. When I told DH my plans he was a bit miffed, despite the fact he's going away for a week with his cycling mates. I had to remind him that for the past 20 plus years I've been at home taking care of DC while he gallivants all over the world. OK it's work, but he always tags sightseeing days on to his trips. He's got over himself now though, and the boys have encouraged me to go for it & enjoy myself. So I'm going to do all sorts of lovely stuff shopping that would bore DH & the boys silly, and I'm going to love it Smile

Chasingsquirrels · 13/07/2017 23:13

Selena I'll also be thinking of you tomorrow.

Drama good on you!

Willow2017 · 14/07/2017 01:51

drama good for you. Have a great time.

selena will be thinking of you tomorrow. Just be you, you will be however you feel at each moment, nobody will 'expect' anything.

Have a good night all. Am still up as p'd off with ds1 and a bit with ds2 too. Really must go to bed too but am taking the Wi-Fi router with me and hiding it😤 you will probably hear ds1 tomorrow wherever you are. 😀😀

I just might run away too.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 14/07/2017 06:30

Morning you lot

Maybe we should have a retreat alone/together with optional participation Wink

I've not been in your position Selena but have been to a few funerals and I have to say there really is no expected way to behave.

sending you a hug Drama

Sounds like an amazing haul book I too look at DS and can't believe he's 5 and completed his first year at school! Wish I could slow it down a bit.

Mind gone blank now, love to all x

bookbook · 14/07/2017 08:41

Morning all
Selena - it's your DH's funeral, and I know you don't want to be a blubbering mess, but that doesn't equate with being a fool All you can do is get through it however you can. Flowers and ((hugs)) for you , and know I will be thinking of you , sending you strength.
Drama - I used also to feel something like that occasionally - tired from work, and a sort of annoyance that what you did was done without thanks or signs of help or appreciation - (most of it due to the tiredness, and assuming people would notice, but didn't.) Good for you to go and escape - enjoy yourself.

Willow - end of tether? - they so know how far to push, then sometimes just keep pushing. Can you have a day when you just think of you - sort out food for them , tell them thats what you are doing, and leave them to it?
Maybe we all ought to escape - not that I really need to , but it would be nice ..
Right- load of washing to get in , a bit of tidying up - trying to find a dress pattern that I am sure should be with/in my sewing box , but isn't . Trip to allotment to pick some vegetables for tea , home for a shower. Funeral to attend then back home for lunch and watch the tennis
Hope you all manage a good day - thoughts to all

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 14/07/2017 10:30

I ended up getting both children to school at different times, got a Costa, dropped a card for friend starting chemo and then DH and I went back to bed! Never at home in the day without smalls, so a real luxury.

I've sewn up 3 teddies with torn seams, put washing in and now firmly on the sofa till noon when I need to get some food to feed the locusts that are small growing people.

Hope that the funeral you're attending goes as well as expected too book and all the love for selena

JaneJeffer · 14/07/2017 11:10

Thinking of you today Selena Flowers

DramaAlpaca · 14/07/2017 11:12

book you've just summed up exactly how I've been feeling and why. Thank you. I'm hoping running away for a few days will do me the world of good.

Willow I think I heard your DS1 a few minutes ago Wink

Selena thinking of you today Flowers

Willow2017 · 14/07/2017 12:05

Hi all

selena sending a virtual hand hold. Hope the day goes as well as it can for you and yours.

book I have run away 😀 had appointment then have come to town for coffee and book read. Left kids tidying up thier room (arguing) and left instructions 're washing machine and time for TKD. DS1 not happy I have taken his phone, Xbox cable and hid Wi-Fi 😀 he is constantly on Snapchat and apparently they have to send 'streaks' to stay on and I am not letting him so my name is mud. He is very 'reasonable' in explaining he "has to send his streaks so where is my phone"? And I am just making them have a device free day "cos he pissed me off yesterday". Damm right kiddo you did right up to 00.35am so take the damm consequences.

cake enjoy your child free time😀

SelenaValentina · 14/07/2017 16:27

All went incredibly well, and I'm now at home drinking hot chocolate.

Willow - good for you!

Drama - good for you too, it's good to get away.

And thank you everyone for the support. It so helps.
