New thread :). Thought I'd start this one like I ended the last one - Bertie crashed out after a busy day's mischief making.

Selena sorry you've had a tough day, hugs and a handhold from me.

Willow enjoy your hols, you've earned a lovely break with all that's been going on.

Chasing your boys not noticing the change in your hair made me smile. I have finally managed to train mine to tell me my hair looks nice when I come back from the hairdresser, but it's taken a long time Grin I just have highlights which I get done every few months, I don't think I have much grey yet but I can't actually tell because there are so many highlights in there and I'm sort of a mousy blonde anyway.

Hope everyone has a lovely restful night.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 01/07/2017 06:41

Thanks for the wishes. At least we slept till 6 so that's something.

The world looks a big soggy but in true Brit style, that won't stop us.

Thinking of you Squirrel as I know you find weekends where the boys go off hard at times.

book I picked a squash type thing off the plant that I was told was courgette... it is yellow and round. Going to see what the inside looks like tonight. Are you working on something specific when you crochet?

My granny always knitted baby booties and cardies. My mum hung onto the last set she did and gave it to me when I had DD (some 12 years later) and I've still got them in her memory box.

My thoughts are with you and your family selena

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 01/07/2017 06:43

Drama my children notice if I've had a cut (one of each) as does DH but I think they've been well trained from birth Grin. I used to have it very long and then lobbed it to shoulder length so I suppose it was a big change. Then I went even shorter this year and they noticed again!

bookbook · 01/07/2017 08:49

Morning all
sunny but a tweak grey at the same time here.
Have not got to rush today , but fairly full day ahead . I need to pick raspberries and blackcurrants to make a summer pudding for tomorrow,. We went and had a look around an auction yesterday, and DH is minded to go back and bid for a couple of lots, so may just go with him, which will make available time a bit shorter today.
Cake - you can have yellow , round courgettes - just one of many varieties !
waking at 6 o clock sounds almost reasonable for you .Enjoy Chessington
I started knitting with/for Woolly Hugs here on MN about 18 months ago. They then asked for help with some Children's blankets just after I had started so I taught myself crotchet as I found out that it is far faster than knitting - (and its quite addictive.) Its a lovely little community of us, who chat around the various appeals - I'm making squares which are then added to others to make blankets for women going through cancer treatment. Also making complete little blankets for children in ICU , it's those sorts of things. I still prefer to knit for special appeals though , it's more personal.
Right - off to pick the raspberries
Have a good day all - thinking particularly of Juan Selena Chasing

Willow2017 · 01/07/2017 16:24

Hola from sunny GC.
Sorry ladies but its absolutely scorching here, lying in shade (finally) kids in pool. Been in a few times myself. Booked us on a submarine tomorrow😀 must remember the sickness pills for me😀

Had interesting flight, extremely windy when we got here and pilot had to abort landing and try again
Bit of a rollercoaster ride but he did it 2nd time and we all clapped and cheered him😀 up a steep winding hill and our room about as far from reception as poss but this is the view so worth it. Hope it works can't preview post.

Selena

Had lovely fresh fruit at lunch which is good for the diet😀

Hugs for everyone else who needs them today.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 01/07/2017 17:25

Hi all

We had a mostly good day apart from me losing the park map and then they'd run out so couldn't replace it, DS not pleased

Just chilling with a movie and popcorn now.

book that is reassuring Wink hope you got all your jobs done. What puddings are you making?

willow that looks beautiful. Have a lovely time.

coffee with a friend tomorrow morning and then park/picnic and a party for DS to attend...busy busy!

Sleep well, I'll be off early!

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2017 18:23

Willow that looks lovely, enjoy yourselves.

Cake glad you enjoyed your day, well mostly!

Discovered today that DDog2 has fleas. DS2 & I were giving him a cuddle on the couch when we spotted one. Then another. Then one jumped. Urrggghhh!!! So I hot footed it to the vet and spent a fortune on stuff and both dogs were dosed and treated within half an hour of spotting them. And I've spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning, hoovering and washing dog beds and throws. Hopefully that's the little buggers dealt with. That'll teach me not to forget to dose them regularly.

bookbook · 01/07/2017 18:29

Evening all
Willow - that looks lovely! - It can get windy , glad you got down safely .Enjoy the warmth.
Cake - actual summer pudding! raspberries/blackcurrants/redcurrants lightly cooked and squished into a bread lined pudding bowl (DH's favourite), plus a big bowl of fresh picked raspberries on the side, and I shall whip up some Chantilly cream, and offer ice cream :)
Sounds like you had a fab day, and tomorrow looks good too!
DH pleased - 2 out of the 3 lots at the auction we got for what we wanted to bid, so it was worth the trip
Selena Juan and Chasing - hoping you are all okay this weekend - thinking of you all

bookbook · 01/07/2017 18:33

xpost with Drama - - you know what popped straight into my head when I read about the fleas? - My Dog Has Fleas - being in a musical household, thats the rhyme for tuning a ukelele...Grin

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2017 18:38

book haha that's funny! That tune will be stuck in my head all evening now.

Chasingsquirrels · 01/07/2017 18:44

Grr MN ate my post. Now I have to try and remember what I'd writen ...

Cake glad you had a good day. Hope you all get a good night and have another good day tomorrow x

bookbook more lovely fresh home grown produce!

Drama I'm feeling for you on the fleas. We found after our dog died shat she'd had them - and once she wasn't here they needed something to feed on - us!

Willow looks fabulous, have a lovely time.

Really pleased with hair, it's faded very slightly with the first wash which bodes well for it being a 6-8 wash out-er. It's shaded as well (I didn't leave it in as long as the instructions said so it hasn't settled fully on the grey) rather than a full on colour and looks really nice.

Ds1 is doing a 4 session archery course, 1st session this morning and he really enjoyed it. Was interesting to watch. Pottered this afternoon, cleaned round a bit and then after the boys went a couple who were old friends of John's popped round for a coffee - nice to see them. No plans for tonight, might text a friend and see if she fancies a walk. Then going to a local WAY-UP lunch tomorrow.

Thoughts to all x

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 01/07/2017 20:39

All settled here - scoffing the Fruit and nut now Blush

It's a bit like the nits, feel all itchy after reading about the fleas. Hope it's sorted now Drama

Hmmm, any pudding is good as far as I'm concerned, but that is a yummy one book

Hope you have a calm and quiet evening Squirrel and a good lunch tomorrow. Same bunch as the NT meet up?

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 01/07/2017 20:41

^ Cadburys obviously - not the healthy stuff!

bookbook · 01/07/2017 21:02

it has to be dark chocolate and whole nuts- it shouldn't have anything healthy in it like raisins :)
Chasing - good to hear the hair dye is working - a real boost for a bit of self esteem > And yes, I love the fresh picked stuff. Tomorrow its picking fresh peas, broad beans, courgettes and baby spinach to mix into some sort of melange for tea .
Archery is fascinating - don't you have to find out which is the dominant eye , or is that just clay pigeon shooting?
Just sat very still, waiting for toenail varnish to harden here.

Chasingsquirrels · 01/07/2017 21:05

Different group cake. This is WAY-UP (over 50 when partner died), which lady I messaged and met for coffee a couple of weeks ago is a member of and invited me along.

Chasingsquirrels · 01/07/2017 21:07

Yes they had to determine dominant eye - ds1 is left handed (only left hander there) and right eye dominant.

Oh, I need to do my toenails.

bookbook · 01/07/2017 22:31

Night all
Thoughts and Prayers x

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 02/07/2017 05:48

morning...way too early! Horrible dreams too humpf

Rained in the night and looking very grey, so not sure the park is feasible.

Thinking of you Juan and Selena

bookbook · 02/07/2017 08:46

Morning all
oh Cake - horrible dreams - how rotten, and up so early.
Lovely here
I am just about to get going - I' m squeezing in a quick trip to our local car boot sale then need to go and pick fruit and veg for tea, finish the last minute re- tidy ( there are only 2 of us, and it was dusted, tidied and hoovered yesterday - how did it get like this????) and have a shower before lunch .
Chasing - enjoy your lunch meet up
Have a good day everyone
Also thinking of Juan ( who I know has a tough time at weekends) and Selena - hope you are both okay

Chasingsquirrels · 02/07/2017 09:28

Hope everyone has good days.
Didn't do anything last night and then got sad, well I'm always sad but I cried.
Watched the Ian Dury (& the Blockheads) film and went to bed to late.
Looks like the sun is shining although I'm not up yet.
Need to get hen food on the way to the lunch.
Miss John so much.
Miss being held and being loved and cared for by him.
Not overly keen on this new phase of life without him.

SelenaValentina · 02/07/2017 09:59

squirrels Flowers and hugs.

And to everyone else too, even though Envy Willow!

Feels bit chilly out there today, though fine at least, cats and tortoise fed. Off to neighbours for coffee then, or maybe before, call in on DH. Then my personal therapy of walk on the prom, possible paddle, more coffee, drift round B&M, M&S Food and Aldi.

My goodness, I know how to live Grin

JaneJeffer · 02/07/2017 11:43

First nits now fleas Grin
*
Willow* it looks lovely there but the landing sounded awful.

Very dull here today.
