magi most of our house is ivory cream too, it's a nice neutral shade which is very liveable with.

Went to a lovely Orchidarium today, absolutely beautiful place with hundreds of species of orchids. I'm sure magi and book would've loved it.

It's been very showery again here, but warm rain so we didn't mind. Home tomorrow, will be glad to see the boys again. DPs are off out to dinner in a mo, so I'm going to get those sheets ironed & put away before DH & I head off out by ourselves.

bookbook · 12/05/2017 18:31

good lord -most of our house is a similar colour ! ( mind you, you can't see too much of it as we collect watercolours, so the walls are full of them Grin )
magi - that is such a good situation to be in , it needs to be 'just right' otherwise, what is the point?
I love orchids - I always try to have some in flower on my kitchen windowsill.
enjoy your last evening Drama

Chasingsquirrels · 12/05/2017 18:54

Another orchid lover here - they thrive on my ensuite windowsill, then I bring the downstairs when they are flowering.

More Estate agro this morning.
Then lunch with a friend at a garden centre coffee shop and a mooch round afterwards. I got some geraniums, verbena and snap dragons then did some potting up late afternoon.
Feeling a bit down currently - ds2 gone to judo and exH will be picking him up, ds1 went to badminton after school then came home, got changed and went to see his girlfriend. He'll be back shortly to eat then exH picks him up on the way to get ds2.

My house is all different colours.

5 minutes from the beach would be nice. John and I talked about moving to the coast when we retired.
Hope you find something you like and it doesn't turn stressful.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 12/05/2017 20:09

Well my Friday night is glam! In bed with DS occasionally moaning next to me. Will see what the morning brings I guess. Going to get some shut eye soon too!

We have different colours in the bedrooms but then everything else bar the kitchen is a magnolia-ey colour. Itching to change it, but such a big job! Doing DD's room in the summer as she's long outgrown the bright pink she chose when younger.

I'd love to live close to the sea too!

Hope the evening isn't too rubbish Squirrel is there anything good to watch? I normally enjoy Have I got news for you on a Friday night. [saddo]

Chasingsquirrels · 12/05/2017 20:18

Just suddenly overwhelmed with grief and tears. And I've had a lovely afternoon.
Just watched Corrie & now Gardeners World then Corrie again. So so lonely.

Hooe you get a decent nights sleep Cake.

Willow2017 · 12/05/2017 20:19

My house is all colours too😀
My living room is cream. Redecorated it last year but the cream is a nightmare with kids! Bits need touching up all over the place.

Have had a lazy afternoon sat down with my book after got kids from school and read my book to the end. It was a really imaginative story couldn't put it down😀

Was even more lazy and got Chinese take out for tea😉

Need to get the garden sorted at weekend. I love snap dragons have some from last year starting to bud must get some more though. Loads of blue and pink bells all over and my aquilegias are popping up all over the place as usual.

Live 5 minutes from a beach and kids love it although we don't go as often as we should.

JuanPotatoTwo · 12/05/2017 20:24

Five minutes from the beach sounds wonderful magi - I hope it's a move closer in my direction! Just the thought of moving exhausts me although I suppose it'll have to happen at some point. House is on 3 floors, five bedrooms and old so pain to maintain and expensive to run. But - it's paid for, the dc grew up here and memories of Mark are in every square inch.

Squirrels did you get the estate aggro sorted? Hope so. And are you still feeling down? I guess at the minute it's all about feeling down, just that some days aren't quite as down as others. Anyway, hope you've picked up a little bit since you posted?

Cake hope little one is improving? And Willow things are never as straightforward as they should be are they?! But only 3 days without hoovering is perfectly acceptable, I should leave it til Monday now if I were you! book where you live sounds perfect and sounds a lot like a small town near me that I would love to move to if it was affordable. But sadly it isn't!

Drama hope you have a nice last evening and that sheetgate can finally be laid to rest! Have safe trip home.

Have had busy day today - met an old neighbour in town for coffee, then met ds2 at the fruit market in town, then did a big shop with ds2, got home just in time for the hairdresser who trimmed my hair, and currently sat in a quiet corner of the O2 with a gin and bag of popcorn! Dd wanted to see John Mayer (who I've never heard of) and was all set to come on her own but I didn't like the idea of her making her way home alone late at night so I've come with her. She's in the arena or whatever you call the bit where the concert goes on and I'm in my quiet corner!

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 12/05/2017 20:48

Wish I could come give you a hug Squirrel Evenings on your own must be terribly hard when you'd normally have a little routine.

Wow, look at you Juan that sounds very confident to me to travel into London Grin Hope the show doesn't finish too late!

I'm not sure if he's much better but yes, he seems better...

bookbook · 12/05/2017 21:05

well, my Friday night is glam too.
Have had a bath, so in dressing gown, watching Gardeners World and with crotchet in my lap - Living the high life :)
Juan - I love it here , been in the same house for 34 years , DC grown up here, and played in the garden . Luckily its in Yorkshire so not as expensive as down south, but has become very popular . Yours sounds lovely - though I am a wuz really -3 floors would kill me . The O2 ? , wow,! great chance to people watch ( one of my favourite occupations, due to being very nosey interested in people
Chasing ((hugs))

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 12/05/2017 21:11

I love to people watch too - fascinating. Can knit badly but not crochet at all, my mum must be mortified as I don't really iron either and she can sew by hand, knit, crochet, garden, cook, clean and iron. She's not a baker though and I'm ace at it! Blush

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 12/05/2017 21:12

and so modest too lol

Willow2017 · 12/05/2017 21:59

Juan the damm thing still isn't working properly it's picking up but about half power. Think I will check warranty and take it back to Argos. Might do same with t.v. damm thing keeps pixelating
The Ariel doesn't seem to stick into socket properly as the dip in the back of tv doesn't seem deep enough. Think Argos are out to get me 😀
Enjoy your gin😀

Squirrels hope you are feeling better tonight.

Drama have a good last night and safe trip home.

Cake I don't iolron much these days either. Just school stiff and anything that really needs it. Definatly not sheets these days😀

bookbook · 12/05/2017 22:47

well, my exciting Friday evening is finished off with a hot chocolate .
Hope everyone has a good nights rest - particularly you Juan .
Willow - another few days not hoovering can't make it that bad - it'll cope!
Thoughts and Prayers, and (hugs) for those who need one

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 13/05/2017 07:45

Morning all. He's slept for 12 hours and asking to go to soft play!

Feel like I've been hit by a bus so may just stay in and clean/tidy. Willow I swear by Dyson. Expensive but good - have had 2 in my time here and they're awesome.

For the gardeners out there, we have flowers on the tomato plant, the carrots are growing and the sunflower seeds have started growing so will plant them over into the raised bed soon too. Very proud of my non existent gardening skills Blush

Squirrel I hope you feel a bit better today.

bookbook · 13/05/2017 11:43

Morning all
Hope all is well with folk.
Cake - on the mend, and some sleep for you hopefully. It almost makes you feel worse when you have had a long sleep .
I am sat with a coffee - been at my allotment this morning, and looking like a scarecrow, so off for a shower shortly, then just pottering in the garden and greenhouse for me this afternoon I think . I would rather it rained - its bone dry .
Have a nice Saturday
Thoughts and Prayers x

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 13/05/2017 13:12

I always feel worse for a longer sleep - think it's the body catching up. I did turn in fairly early and then snoozed on and off from 5am to 7am.

Still looking good on the neck front - no pain relief today and no tears!

We ventured into town for an hour and I've done an hour of cleaning. Now we're watching Star Wars IV with DS for the first time - not sure if he'll like it but he's a big Lego fan...

Doing breakfast for tea (bacon and eggs and black pud for DH), love an easy meal!

Peace and love and Cake to you all

Chasingsquirrels · 13/05/2017 17:22

Cake good to hear ds seems back to normal. Hope you gave had a good day. Plants all sound good. We used to do carrots in a tub when then boys were small and they'd just pull them and eat them.

Willow 3 days without vacuuming doesn't sound like a problem, it's once a week here - although I brush the hard surfaces (hall, kitchen & utility room) more often.
Having brought snapdragons yesterday I've noticed tiny seedlings in the pot I had them in last year, I've never had any success with snapdragon seeds so quite surprised. They are much smaller than the ones I brought yesterday though.

Juan, get you at the O2. Hope dd enjoyed it and you had a good journey back.
Estate aggro is unfortunately going to take a while I think, but will get there in the end. I could just do without it.

I was very very low yesterday and this morning. Met a couple who John had been friends with for years for coffee this afternoon. I didn't want to go but it was good to see them. It's just so hard afterwards, they go home together and can talk about things etc, and I just have an empty house. That sounds very self pitying.

I want someone to be with, but I don't want 'someone' I want John.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 13/05/2017 19:54

That sounds very normal to me. Nothing I can do or say to make it better, but I'm here.

He's mostly fine now, thank goodness. Hoping tomorrow will be even better and that I can send him back to school on Monday!

Chasingsquirrels · 13/05/2017 21:03

I'm sure it is normal yes. Part of the WAY forum is that reading other people's posts highlights the normality of my own feelings. The boys are back now and that lifts me. Just watched Mastercard finals with ds2, although I don't think he actually watched!

Hope your small is getting a good night sleep!

Chasingsquirrels · 13/05/2017 21:05

That's a good typo - Masterchef

JuanPotatoTwo · 13/05/2017 21:21

Hello all. Cake very glad ds is better, long may it last. I'm so impressed by everyone's gardening skills - I'm almost tempted to try and plant something, almost being the operative word. Willow go and give Argos a piece of your mind and then never darken their doorstep again! Drama I hope your last night was good and that you've had a safe journey home. book I have this vision in my mind of your garden looking like a beautiful typical English cottage garden, the type of thing Miss Marple would have. Am I way off the mark?!

Squirrels I get you. I feel like that all the time - I have a lovely day with friends, and then get so sad that they are either going home together, or going home to tell their partner about their day. And, as you say, it's not about wanting any old someone to be with, it's about wanting Mark and John back to share our lives with. More and more recently I've been wanting to tell Mark things - I thought the impulse to do that would lessen as time passed but strangely it seems to be going the opposite way for me.

Last night was interesting! I found myself the quietest, darkest, furthest corner of the cinema bar I could and was sat quite happily with my gin, some popcorn and my phone. Firstly some man came and sat with me and started talking - I managed to scare him off quite easily by telling him I was recently widowed. Then a group of lads about ds1's age came and sat with me - I looked lonely apparently and did I want to go to the cinema with them? I scared them off by telling them I had children older than them, and decided the cinema bar was not the place for me! So I found this other bar type place that fortunately was practically empty - never in my 52 years have I walked in on my own to somewhere like that, to buy a drink to then drink on my own! Mark would think I'd been cloned. So far out of my comfort zone. Am 100 % happier tonight, sat in my bed with my candles lit, a bag of maltesers on the go, and MN to hand!

Dd enjoyed the concert though, and once we were reunited it was kind of buzzy being up there, and we had a lot of fun. She found herself sitting next to an Australian man who kept trying to talk to her, so she was making me laugh by imitating all that he'd been saying and her attempts to shut him down. We got home at about 2.30 and I've had a quiet day today just pottering really.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 13/05/2017 21:31

Well done you! Shows you that Mark had the measure of you after all.

I tried to go jogging tonight and it's astonishing how quickly even my very basic fitness has gone downhill. Still i was out there. Then showered, shaved, tended the lady garden, covered myself in cream, used a footfile on my hooves and foot cream on too. I find it hard to look after myself when things get stressful, so trying to do it!

I'm about ready to crash now (lightweight) so glad there's some later night company around now and that your boys are back Squirrel

Juan any Bertie photos to make us go aaaaawwww?!

bookbook · 13/05/2017 22:24

Evening!
been a bit awol tonight - crotchet- ing and trying to follow Sherlock ( taped from Xmas I think?) . So though quite good at multi tasking, MN was beyond me :)
Juan - go you, nearly picked up in a bar - good to hear that it went well. Every time you do something a little out of your comfort zone makes the next time just that little bit less frightening/worrying. Almost spot on re the garden - yes it is rather cottagey - I just fill it with the things I love, so its a little higgledy piggledy, with fruit trees, bushes as well as flowers , shrubs and trees .
Cake - at least you ran! - and snap - I realised I had better get my feet into some sort of shape - warm is coming and they will be on show , so started the foot file and foot scrub today. Nail polish next week.
Chasing and Juan - I also think it is very understandable to want Mark and John to talk to - they have been a major part of your lives and they leave a big hole .

DramaAlpaca · 13/05/2017 22:49

Juan I'm very amused to read of your adventures at the cinema bar, it would push me right out of my comfort zone too. At nearly 53 I have never gone into a bar on my own - good for you!

Cake glad your DS is feeling better & that you are getting some much needed you time.

book I still have Sherlock recorded from Xmas, must get round to watching it!

Got home safe & sound, to find boys & dogs pleased to see us and the house clean & reasonably tidy. Lots of laundry to be done though. I'd left cash for shopping and the log in details for Tesco online, but they'd managed to survive on what was in the house. All they bought all week was milk, and judging by the contents of the recycling bin, booze Grin

Oh, it's nice to be home Smile

JuanPotatoTwo · 13/05/2017 22:57

Glad to have you back Drama. Bertie thinks so too :)
