Link didn't work for me either, but after a few wines I'm here and gearing up for a better week.

Lux hope you're ok

dementedma · 05/03/2017 21:46

LuxuryWoman2017 · 05/03/2017 21:47

Well done Bibbity don't be shy with us, we're lovely 😀

Thanks for the new thread ma I expect the others will find us soon.

I had 2 drinks, poured a 3rd but put it down the sink as I'd started to feel a bit, 'chaotic' which seems a strange word but it's true. I think due to a worrying day plus strong painkillers. In bed now.

Hope everyone else is OK. Sorry to sound self absorbed today, will catch up tomorrow now our guests have gone.

theansweris42 · 05/03/2017 21:51

lux you always give loads, never self absorbed! Sleep well.

madein1995 · 05/03/2017 21:56

Mint 59 days, wow, that’s fantastic! Can you pour the wine away? Or do something to keep busy, like go for a bath, do some ironing, cook tomorrows tea early – anything to keep busy and avoid drinking any more
Hi few, I know what you mean re the trigger, it can be very easy to slip into old habits without realising
Kid well done Smile
Lux sending you lots of hugs and Brew
Bibbity well done on 5 days Smile

ThoroughlyModernFlora · 06/03/2017 06:50

Well, the weekend was a car crash. Three bottles of wine.

I have to sort out Thursdays. I end up a bit tired, I don't go to my yoga class and then my default is to drink instead. I need a backup option. Here's my plan: Thursday, if not yoga, will be pamper day. Face mask, intense conditioner, all that jazz.

Using my food and fitness app has been a massive eye-opener. I do great on non-drinking days. On drinking days I consume up to 500 calories more than I need Shock On post-drinking days I struggle to eat well and am constantly hungry.

Hi kid, book, and any other new Babes I've missed.

made your old boss is a knob. In my experience people can tell when the person who's bitching to them is an idiot, so hopefully he's only making himself look bad.

Lux I hope you feel better Flowers

Wish I had time to nameck all but I'm on the stupid hudl and typing is painfully slow plus every other word is wrongly autocorrected

guggenheim · 06/03/2017 07:09

Morning babes,
My bastard computer or mumsnet or the universe had germlins and I couldn't get onto mumsnet for a few days. Bah!

I had 4 af days last week and am trying for another 4 this week.

Where's Spring got to then? As in the daffodil variety not a new poster! Bloody cold and wet here.

theansweris42 · 06/03/2017 07:25

Morning all.
Going for at least 4 AF days this week. Did only 2 last week but managed to stick to just a couple of drinks on 2 of the nights.
A new day and just for now it's not raining SmileBrew

Flowerydems · 06/03/2017 08:15

42 I'm attempting the same Monday to Thursday for me.

Hope everyone's well today I'm hungover so hopefully I remember this feeling to keep me af. The school run should be pleasant

ThoroughlyModernFlora · 06/03/2017 08:24

Make that 3 of us going for Mon-Thurs Smile

booklooker · 06/03/2017 08:45

back to your original post......why are you expecting to be diagnosed with cirrhosis? What symptoms do you have? What made you go to the doctor in the first place? Grumpy

Well, basically my skin has gone yellow and I feel like crap

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/03/2017 09:01

Morning all,

Welcome Booklooker yes that would be a good reason to see a doctor. I hope you find you haven't done too much damage and can reverse the effects. Before I joined the thread I was drinking a really quite astonishing amount, amounts I'm only now really admitting to myself. It took a very long time to build up to the fact I needed (and wanted) to stop. I wish you very well in the next steps.
I have found that writing down my thoughts and really thinking about how and why I drank has been incredibly helpful. It's like taking a step back and observing yourself.

Guests have gone and I had a couple more drinks than I planned in the last few days, now planning to have a very moderate March.

Hope everybody manages their planned AF days. I realise I gained no benefits from drinking over the weekend so why bother? It's just so easy to slip.

Nice and sunny here, plenty to do today. Hope everyone is ok.

PureConcentratedEvil · 06/03/2017 11:18

I probably drank 2/3 - 1 bottle of wine yesterday. Loved the first 2 glasses. Really loved them.
Now feel rubbish because I didn't/ couldn't stop at 2 glasses and felt crap this morning so didn't go to the gym.
I also feel like drinking now, which is how it works isn't it.
I feel I want to blame DH (perhaps unfairly) because in some ways he "drives me to drink" and also because he is still drinking so I can't have a wine-free home.

Thinking of you Booklooker good luck with the GP.

madein1995 · 06/03/2017 15:15

Booklooker hope all goes ok with the GP
Flora Thursday pamper days sounds fabulous Smile everyone at work can tell what a sod boss is – only 3 staff left now Shock I know what you mean re calories, it’s shocking seeing how much is in wine and even shocking when you convert it to chocolate and realise you could have 2 kitkats for that glass of wine!
gugg I think spring has gone into hibernation!
Pure I know in the past I’ve thought ‘I drank last night so I may as well tonight’ but in truth, what happened yesterday was yesterday, today is a fresh day so it’s worth everything to really go for it today Smile
Nothing much planned for today. Been food shopping and collected clothes order, my job applications are still being reviewed, so a relatively relaxed afternoon. Planning on trying cheesy garlic chicken for my tea, need to do my hairwash (put it off last night) and watch Call The Midwife. Am planning on having a glass of wine but just the one – in some ways being on SW helps because wine is so highly synned and the prospect of being slim and having stickers Grin motivates me

Swarskid2184 · 06/03/2017 16:46

Does anyone have experience of detox?

4th day AF. Been on daily bottle for years. About 100 units /week for past 6 months.

I am itching all over. Scratching myself to bleeding. Is this part of detox....or do I have fleas!!!

ThoroughlyModernFlora · 06/03/2017 17:14

swarskid, I am no expert but that does sound like a withdrawal symptom. 100 units a week is pretty heavy drinking. No judgement here (I drank similar back in the day), just looking at the units and feeling a bit worried about your health, given the itching. 100 to 0 is a sharp brake.

How would you feel about seeing your GP? You may be able to get an appt tomorrow.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/03/2017 18:15

Swarskid2184 I think the itching is a pretty common side effect after prolonged use of alcohol. It's fairly widely spoken about in alcohol forums but might be worth a chat with your GP. 4 days AF is brilliant, well done.
A lot of people like to bath with Epsom Salts to draw out toxins, I never have but might be worth a look, I think they are harmless from what I read.

I'm in PAIN, poor me - sympathy please!

Have a good evening all.

madein1995 · 06/03/2017 19:55

Swarskid Well done on 4 days AF! It does sound like withdrawal to me, and maybe it might be better to reduce gradually or see the GP for advice? Just because going from 100 down to nothing could be a shock to your system, and while I did it with no major problems (bar feeling like shit) I’d only been drinking that heavily for about three months so perhaps my body wasn’t so used to it, if that makes sense? In regard to the scratching to bleeding, you poor thing Sad make sure to apply E45 cream or similar to at least help ward off infection? Hope you feel better soon Flowers
Lux you poor babe Flowers am giving you a care package with strong painkillers, DVDs, chocolate and tea, and a magic spell to ward away all annoyances/irratants/responsibilities Smile

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/03/2017 20:36

Thanks made I've taken some strong prescribed painkillers and feel slightly superb now!

Elba if you're out there, I miss you, if you're busy or not up to posting I'd love just to know you're OK x

Hope everyone else is OK tonight.

babyjane1 · 06/03/2017 20:55

Hi guy and dolls,
I'm just checking so I don't lose you again. Ive been sober since last July and my story is much complicated by post natal depression, a nervous breakdown and a bipolar diagnosis!!! Suffice to say by the time I actually gave up I had just about lost everything, my kids, my family, my partner and very possibly my life.

I will tell you all about it someday but I'm very happy to be sober, relieved and grateful every day to have found my way back and thrrr were times when the only human beings left in this world that would talk to me were the angels on this bus.

I'm proud to ride among you (ooh errr)

Back soon xxx

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/03/2017 20:57

Baby how lovely to see your post, you inspire me evertime you swing by Flowers

UnwiseOldElf · 06/03/2017 21:09

swarskid please do see someone and get help. 'Cold turkey' puts you at serious risk of seizures.

(I went from 140 units/week to 0 under medical supervision.) Itching could be liver-related but I'm not medically trained so don't take my word for it.

It's brilliant to have reached day 4 but please stay safe!

PureConcentratedEvil · 06/03/2017 21:14

Swarskid I am so impressed by your 4 days AF.
I know that if I had continued beyond Saturday I would be in a better place now rather than drinking vodka. (I'll get there, no need to worry)
I shall be detoxing with the rest of you tomorrow.

Tons of sympathy and Brewfor Lux

Swarskid2184 · 06/03/2017 21:23

Epic fail. A bottle of Chablis and now on way to train failing like a failure 😞

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/03/2017 21:26

Thanks Pure

Do listen to Elf Swarskid she's our new guru and wise one. I will add I've had itching the past and so did my dad who had a serious issue with alcohol (lovely man, no problems with his drinking as it didn't affect us negatively) but his drinking did contribute to his premature death. Oh god that sounds terrible and I don't mean you are in big trouble, just mean look after yourself.

Forgive me babes, these pills have me high as a kite tbh.
