and i know I now look like I'm spamming, but I feel passionately that this needs to be known about (for those of you who are doing something that is already working for you then great- but for those who aren't, it may be worth looking at)
www.psychologytoday.com/blog/overcoming-addiction/201307/drink-your-way-sober-naltrexone

I may come back in a few months time and say actually it doesn't seem to work- but it is used widely in finland

guggenheim · 12/02/2017 13:52

Squeeeeeeeeeeee - baby 🐼!

Just to be clear, I have no objection to teeny primates either, unless I happen to have given birth to them. Happy to clear up panda poo.

babyjane please do talk to us. What an achievement staying dry since last summer. That's not far off being a whole year.

I'm still in the sidecar but I'm not going anywhere else, so I will get back in the bus soon.
I have two book recommendations- the little stranger by Sarah waters- wonderful book
And the queen and I by sue Townsend. I love sue Townsend's books. This one is funny because it's very late 80's politics and feels like another world from where we are today.

tismesober · 12/02/2017 14:02

gugg I loved The Queen and I .......must read it again it is soooooo funny 😀

dementedma · 12/02/2017 14:23

Feeling blue today - financial worries - so took myself to a wild and windy beach to look for sea glass. Found a glass ring, previously a bottle rim but rare to find one intact. The ring of power. One ring to bring them all.....Where is dubh. I have the pretties

Nice find ma am sorry you've got worries.
Hope all are okay today.
Just checking in Smile

SweetLathyrus · 12/02/2017 19:04

Ma, the precious! Sorry about your worries.

Did a little bit of gardening today, and prep for tomorrow, but mostly took things easy. Managed to keep under my MFP target so far, and no wine is the house, so no fears there and day 9, nearly in the bag.

dementedma · 12/02/2017 19:05

I'm ok.Being married to a dickhead doesnt help

guggenheim · 12/02/2017 19:13

Hope you're ok ma. Tempted to use the ring of power for evil purposes? 😎

Ooh gardening? I love my garden but I've found it all a bit overwhelming but I have a new garden this year and I want to get started planting and designing. Hope I get some time- will have to involve my small primates if I want any kind of chance.

SweetLathyrus · 12/02/2017 19:36

What's he been up to - I thought you'd arrived at a truce?

Guggs, I love my garden, but SweetDog trashed it over the winter when a mole moved in for a while. SweetPuss has sorted the mole - God knows how, but she left it on a kitchen chair for me Confused. Now, I'm just waiting for it to dry out so I can start fixing it properly.

guggenheim · 12/02/2017 19:48

I think that was very kind of sweetpuss, I hope you rewarded her accordingly : )
Aww I don't have any pets at the moment and I very much miss my cats ( they lived very long, very adored and completely spoiled lives)

Yes garden plans.i know which flowers and shrubs I love and I want to use in the new garden, I should really have a think about trying some new varietys. This garden has points which really catch the sun, unlike my shady garden at previous house. What did you do today sweet? Was it just a tidy up ? It's too early to plant anything, isn't it?

I'm going to plant loads of lavender because me and the bees love it,don't care that it's a little old lady plant.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 12/02/2017 20:05

Lavender is not an old lady plant, it's beautiful and fabulous, I love it.

I love cottage gardens full of bees and flowers. Wish my fingers were greener.

SweetLathyrus · 12/02/2017 20:10

It was just tidying, pulling ivy off fences kind of stuff today, Guggs, soil is much too cold and wet. I have loads of foxgloves and cottage garden plants I did from seed last year to go in. And a lavender hedge around my front garden.

theansweris42 · 12/02/2017 20:34

Ooo.
I've a nice garden, rented house only moved in in Oct so not done much. But if I buy some pots of the wondrous Lavender, how can I best keep it alive and healthy please if anyone has some tips they don't mind posting?
I get Lavender, I consult Google, I try.. It dies Sad

dementedma · 12/02/2017 20:35

Ach, nothing really. He's just annoying me.
I have quite a big garden too, I just hate gardening. like more housework but outdoors. I grow stuff like lavender, honeysuckle, rosemary and thyme ( no parsley and sage). Mostly stuff that looks after itself. And fabulous ornamental poppies.

You babes are making me long for spring now.

grumpysquash3 · 12/02/2017 20:43

Now, I'm just waiting for it to dry out so I can start fixing it properly.

The mole?

DavetheCat2001 · 12/02/2017 20:44

I had a glass of wine last night. My first since 31st December 2016. I was worried that once I opened the bottle and had a taste of it, I'd want to neck the whole bottle, but I actually didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would and left it at the one glass.

There is now a 3/4 bottle full in the fridge which I don't feel compelled to drink, although I do hate wasting wine!

Maybe the month off has helped reset my desire to drink? Normally wine wouldn't last 5 mins anywhere near me, red or white.

dementedma · 12/02/2017 20:45

We need ladame and her vegetable garden.

Is there a reason for nobody responding? Not trying to be difficult, just wanting to understand as I thought this might be helpful for people to know about?

dementedma · 12/02/2017 20:50

I think it sounded a wee bit hard sell twisted

theansweris42 · 12/02/2017 20:59

Hey Dave am glad you're feeling positive, that's really good that you could just leave it Smile

SweetLathyrus · 12/02/2017 21:17

42, it's just good drainage and sun. If you're trying French Lavendar, it's tender most years, and even more sensitive to wet.

Ma, sounds like a lovely combination. I outsource the bits I don't like doing (that lawn has to go) to DS.

Grumpy, mole was well and truly sorted, Grin the velvety little bastard, but bits of the garden still collapse in the wet.

Well done, Dave, do you think you can keep the moderation up? I always worry it will creep back up.

Twisted, I think that although you said you were only interested In opinions for a friend, you came over a little evangelical. I've explained why I was unsure about the site you first put up, but for me, I have read and heard about side effects of various drugs used for cravings, and there's a reason why they are only prescribed on the NHS in very serious cases. My drinking is a problem, but it is one that is slowly responding to support, counselling of various sorts, and a will to change. I can't say how I would feel if I felt more hopeless.

SweetLathyrus · 12/02/2017 21:30

Right, I'm taking a book up to bed. You babes have a good night, don't keep the pa days up too late!
