How old were you when you had a child?

I'm worrying about this. At work, anyone who reaches 30 seems panicked if they're not on their way to having a baby.

I'm nearly 30 and still single so nowhere near having children!

40 and currently pregnant with numbers 1 and 2 (twins!).

HelenF35 · 02/06/2016 21:20

35, almost 36.

Violetornot · 02/06/2016 21:23

39 and no problems getting pregnant.

sminkypinky · 02/06/2016 21:24

36 after ttc for 7 years, now almost 38 and trying for another.

Squiby1976 · 02/06/2016 21:25

27 and we only have her (by choice). I'm 40 now and love the fact that our baby days are long behind us to be honest.

cocochanel21 · 02/06/2016 21:25

Had my first at 15

Had my second at 38

Flumpnugget · 02/06/2016 21:26

25, 28, & 31

Still wondering if I've got the energy for a 4th!

Have friends who started their families late 30's / early 40's and really no difference- you're ready when you are ready.

AdoraKiora · 02/06/2016 21:26

27 with my first. I was like a gymslip mum among my peers, though.

Close friends having their first were:
30
34
35
36
41

!!

AdoraKiora · 02/06/2016 21:27

of those, only one had fertility issues, btw, and it wasn't the 41 yr old! Grin

pinktransit · 02/06/2016 21:27

20 and 21. I find it interesting that friends my age have children ranging from nearly 27 (my oldest) to 3 or 4. A whole generation age difference :-) I wouldn't want my children to have had babies at the same age that I did, although I wouldn't change anything for me. I wouldn't have wanted to wait until my 40s though.

Each to their own, there are advantages and disadvantages to all ages.

Baileycakes · 02/06/2016 21:28

Mislou · 02/06/2016 21:29

HoldTheDoorHodor · 02/06/2016 21:30

30

fuckyoudoorhandles · 02/06/2016 21:30

39 1/2

SandyY2K · 02/06/2016 21:31

I was 29 and 32.

I can understand why women may begin to panic as they approach a certain age. Especially if they are single and still have to meet a man and spend time getting to know each other.

This is why women freeze their eggs these days, as fertility declines towards later 30s.

that's not saying you won't be able to have a child then or at 40+ , but the risks of birth defects are higher and you classed as an older mother at 40 in the medical profession.

It's tough for women, because we now want to be independent and get a good career, which takes some time.
