I'm staying at my boyfriend of 4 years and I've come on, I usually have more stuff with me but I wasn't expecting it until Monday so when he said he was popping to the shop to get sweets for his kids I asked if he could get me some tampons - he said he's never bought them in his life and never would - even for me!!! Its a crap area so he'd rather me walk myself to go and get them, his 12 yr old daughter said she would go with me but ffs, its tampons and this is the 21st century - I feel so sorry for his 2 daughters (although I am sure he would go and get what they needed!!) Feel like shit right now with a was of bog roll in my pants!!!! :-( :-(:-(

I don't know what he'd come up with, I'm not him.

But I've never known him not catch someone out.

ProudMomma095 · 09/01/2016 22:30

Dump him girl!!! if he wont get tampons for you thats awful. you cant help that youve come on and he needs to understand your needs. sending love your way xx

AnyFucker · 09/01/2016 22:30

tbf, my H would buy the wrong thing

those sanitary towels with a belt

or tampax for "light flow" (when I bleed like stuck pig)

buthe wouldn't have an issue with doing it Smile

my dad would ...but he's been a twat all his life

MotherofFlagons · 09/01/2016 22:31

I am picturing men tiptoeing back from the shop wearing rubber gloves holding a box of tampons and shuddering with disgust in case their manliness is contaminated by woman product.

AnyFucker · 09/01/2016 22:31

Milk, I think you should introduce your father to MN

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 09/01/2016 22:32

milk you look up to this man? Hmm

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 09/01/2016 22:32

I must annoy I am fussy about sanitary stuff. I hate "wings". And "light flow" wouldn't stop a nose bleed.

BertrandRussell · 09/01/2016 22:33

"I don't know what he'd come up with, I'm not him.

But I've never known him not catch someone out."

So some smartarse reason to make the sycophants laugh.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 09/01/2016 22:33

Dh goes all the time, although I did have to explain that " Super plus" in no way bore any relation to the size of my fanjo!

GladiatorsInSuits · 09/01/2016 22:34

My Dad wouldn't, but DH and my lovely (gay) brother both have. DH says somethings like piles cream would be much worse, as they know the tampons are not for him!

Snappingcrayons · 09/01/2016 22:35

This "my dad is bigger than yours" playground argument is utterly bizarre.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 09/01/2016 22:35

Yes I do look up to him. He's got one, one little flaw and you think he's a terrible human being?

OK, he's probably got more than one, my mum would probably give you a list. But aside from never buying sanitary shit he's never ever let me down.

goodnightdarthvader1 · 09/01/2016 22:36

"Some men are just idiots and that's it"

Fixed it for you.

ThoughtfulPenny · 09/01/2016 22:36

My DP insists on my sending him a photo so he can be sure to get the right ones. He's also bought me canesten and anusol when I needed it after childbirth.

Tbh I find it a bit pathetic that any man wouldn't buy them, it's patently obvious that they aren't for them. I really can't understand the issue.

CockwombleJeff · 09/01/2016 22:36

I would be hoping he'd get a dose of penike thrush one day.

How in the world would he deal with that ?

Longdistance · 09/01/2016 22:36

Erm, my Dh has never bought me any Sanpro before. Probably as I've never asked him, I'm the one that does the shopping as he'd buy shed loads of crap we don't need, and he'd probably get the wrong ones.

CockwombleJeff · 09/01/2016 22:37

I mean penile thrush , sorry

AnyFucker · 09/01/2016 22:37

ok, milk, your dad is fabulous

moving on...

OP, are you ok ?

KathyBeale · 09/01/2016 22:37

This is so weird. I have honestly never considered that men won't buy tampons if asked. It's very strange. What do they think will happen to them if they do?

Passmethecrisps · 09/01/2016 22:39

I would be annoyed by this for sure.

A long time ago my DH went shopping and sanitary towels were on the list. He spent a very long time considering "cotton feel" with "silk feel" and came home telling me his reasoning of cotton. It was natural and clean feeling while being absorbent. He wondered if silk might feel a bit slippy. It was this which reinforced his position as "a keeper"

Not all men are going to be comfortable but I would hope they would try. Or at least recognise that they were being a bit daft.

KathyBeale · 09/01/2016 22:39

Also OP if my husband said he wouldn't buy me tampons I'd firstly assume he was joking, and then massively take the piss out of him for being scared of some cotton wool (not actually sure what they're made out of!).

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 09/01/2016 22:39

Aww... thank you AF. I'll let him know.

not really, he wouldn't know what the fuck Mumsnet was anyway

Grin
Pipbin · 09/01/2016 22:40

At my dad being an "immature prick". He'd wipe the floor with the lot of you.

What do you mean by that? Are you saying he'd hit a bunch of women.

Anyway, are we playing 'my dad's bigger than your dad here'?

OP - my DH has bought towels for me loads of time, not a problem. I have sent texted him a packet shot though just to make sure he gets the right thing.
