Do you have something that makes you disproportionately happy?

I do.

It's my neighbours across the road. They garden together with their little baby 'helping' aswell. I'm single and make no secret of the fact i would like to have someone i could do normal house and family stuff with but seeing these 3 out together working as a team brings me so much (unexpected) joy that i actually wonder if i'm a bit weird.

Does anyone else have something simple that brings you joy like this?

Illustrating my favourite poems. I haven't painted for years and went back to it after my H's affair over a year ago. Great for my self-esteem; I'm really good at it!

EmEyeFaive · 21/03/2015 08:36

The Paper app.

It makes me feel like a creative, artistic genius. Grin

I come off a session on it (making pictures to illustrate my lessons) feeling ridiculously happy.

Watching Dd1 (19) playing the piano. She's so beautiful and ethereal.

back2two I chose that word really carefully. I always feel loved but it's soul nourishment in the deepest sense to feel cherished.

Solarbaboon · 21/03/2015 09:26

, visiting a friend and his family. The little boy started singing a song about diggers and the whole family joined in, dad, mum and even the toddlers shouting 'digger, digger'. Then they all laughed when they finished.

When im really struggling to get out of bed in the morning, my husband would keep kissing me all over mech face and head - until insmile and laugh and it really fills me with happiness for the day. Amazing especially on Mondays :)

Asleep in bed and feeling my dp reach over to hug me. After years of lying next to a man who couldn't bear any physical contact this never fails to feel like bliss. Just sitting next to him on the sofa and he holds my hand, I still can't get used to it but it's ace.

Singing in the car with my dcs.

Smelling my cats fur.

Standing in the garden on the first warm day of spring.

Watching big boats go by (live near a canal)

aurynne · 21/03/2015 10:33

Watching monarch butterflies in flight.

Watching my dog sprawled on her back enjoying doing nothing.

Sitting in the garden under the sun, feeling the grass under my hands.

Snuggling up to my DH in bed and falling asleep hearing his breathing close to mine.

Making faces at babies and making them smile.

Using the Doppler to hear a baby's heart and see the smile in the mum and dad's faces.

Witnessing the first time a mother meets her baby.

Finding Orion in the night sky.

Walking my dog on a sunny day.

Walking my dog after a snowfall in the city, when all the roads are hidden by the snow, there are no cars and we can just walk through my neighbourhood in that special silence only snow can achieve, feeling we are the only living beings around.

Playing with a puppy.

Enjoying the company of someone who genuinely enjoys mine.

I am very, very lucky :)

Looking at my fishtank when i've just cleaned it out

Seeing the first spring bulbs fighting through

Getting lovely feedback from work

Opening new lego sets Grin

Hanging washing out on an early summers morning. Listening to the birds. All that promise at the start of the day. And beautifully smelling laundry later. I can honestly say it's the time I feel most alive. I am NOT a winter person!
YY to this.

I'd love to live by a river or canal, and watch this from my garden

weaselwords · 21/03/2015 11:04

The sound of my neighbour's chickens. They make a funny, sleepy "bwaaark" noise when out on sunny days.

Dowser · 21/03/2015 12:17

A good nights sleep

Being completely pain free

Mountains....completely awe inspiring

A seaside cove on a warm summers day

A winter foreign holiday where you can go bare legged and wear summer clothes

My kids popping round to see me

Doing something nice for others

Just hearing right now that my grandson that I haven't seen for a month is dying to see me...how lovely is that

Having the love of a good man

Spending an evening with all my family

Learning something new

Teaching something new to my grand kids

There's lots of things to be joyful about if you just look

Rollercola · 21/03/2015 13:41

RandomNPC I'm really lucky to live here, the boats are massive (big ships) and they sail right past my garden. Even after living here for years I still run to the back door when I hear one.

RandomNPC · 21/03/2015 13:43

Sounds fab, Rollercola

The first day of Spring where it's warm enough to open all the windows

Neonladybird1970 · 21/03/2015 14:13

Some lovely things here Smile
I've just bought some new big white pasta/soup bowls, everything I put in them looks so posh even if it tastes crap

marshmallowpies · 21/03/2015 14:34

Hearing DD1 singing songs she's made up herself, or her approximation of the songs from Frozen: 'we used to be best bunnies' instead of 'best buddies'.

The fact she has just begun to understand jokes and teasing, and played the boiled egg trick on me last weekend.
And she gets it when we are teasing her.

The snuffles and noises DD2 makes to herself as she is going to sleep. And especially the noise she makes when she's going to do a sneeze but it doesn't come, and instead she goes 'aaaah'.

chrome100 · 21/03/2015 16:19

Soap and Glory Flake Away Scrub. DP bought me some for xmas a few years ago and it's so nice I have to use it all the time.

My beloved bicycle. Cycling it round the moors by my house got me through a nervous breakdown, it has taken me to some amazing places all around the world, made me some wonderful friends and is kind of a part of me.

chrome100 · 21/03/2015 16:22

Just read this one too:

A big YES to that too.
