Do you have something that makes you disproportionately happy?

I do.

It's my neighbours across the road. They garden together with their little baby 'helping' aswell. I'm single and make no secret of the fact i would like to have someone i could do normal house and family stuff with but seeing these 3 out together working as a team brings me so much (unexpected) joy that i actually wonder if i'm a bit weird.

Does anyone else have something simple that brings you joy like this?

Really old big trees make me ridiculously happy.
I'd love to walk in an ancient established forest where the trees are huge.

MamaMary · 30/04/2014 18:01

Love these

Picking up DD from pre-school - the moment when she sees me
Hearing the cuckoo
Sitting in the sunshine with my Kindle and a cup of coffee
Seeing DD bounce on the trampoline
Watching clothes blow gently on the line on a sunny day with a soft breeze in the air
Going to bed with the knowledge that I don't have an early start the next morning :)

Plomino · 30/04/2014 18:02

Horse pyjamas are their big quilted rugs that go all the way from their bum up to their ears . Like 13 tog duvets . When it's cold enough DS's pony manages to shuffle backwards in hers as it's a bit too big , so she can tuck her ears and most of her head in . When I go out last thing at night , if she deigns to put her head over the door , all you can see is the end of her nose !

olaflikeswarmhugs · 30/04/2014 18:03

Songs on the radio . Certain ones that take me back to a happy time . Of they come on when I'm driving I can't help but smile and sing along Smile

rabbitrisen · 30/04/2014 18:05

Perfume.

I get a tiny but real frisson of joy when I use the trolley token off my keyring. Just such a simple yet brilliant idea.

Aboyandabunny · 30/04/2014 18:06

Seeing my DS hove into view as he wanders up the path from school. I only get to collect him 3 or 4 times a month due to work and it brings me such joy when I do.
Also seeing my washing dry on the line.
It's definitely the simple things that mean the most.

Chopsypie · 30/04/2014 18:06

Seeing DS and DD singing the 'I love you' dog from Barney to each other. They are usually ripping lumps out of each other so it made me have a bit of a happy weep.

Organising and purchasing new stationary. I love seeing it all lined up in a cupboard. Especially pencils with sharp points

Scrounger · 30/04/2014 18:11

A great song on the radio
Hanging washing on the line
Getting into bed when I have washed the sheets
My DTs shouting with joy and giving me a big hug and a kiss when I pick them up from nursery
All three children having a group hug and then collapsing on the floor
Snuggling in bed with a sleeping, non wriggling child
Their smiles at Easter egg hunts and when Santa has been at Christmas

FiloPasty · 30/04/2014 18:12

I have just passed my driving test aged 34, the joy I get from the school run, going to the supermarket easily and parking in a tight spot make me so happy! Honestly I didn't know what I was missing, I feel completely liberated!

HumphreyCobbler · 30/04/2014 18:12

My garden. It gives me enormous pleasure.
Picking flowers for the house.
Cow Parsley.
Buttoning up my clean baby after a bath in a lovely fresh sleepsuit. Especially nice now he is eating real food.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 30/04/2014 18:18

Yep plomino that sounds unbelievably cute! Grin

Christmas Eve (I get more excited than the children!)
Hot chocolate with marshmallows
Clean bedsheets
The smell of the DCs' hair just after bathtime
Watching a favourite programme with DH, especially when we've waited ages for a new series
Seeing the stars on a dark night
Oh, and I saw a man doing a camp little dance at a bus stop the other day and it was the best thing ever

BarbaraPalmer · 30/04/2014 18:24

the cat curling up on my lap
she is not by nature an affectionate beast, and this make me feel like I am The Chosen One

BastardDog · 30/04/2014 18:32

My dog.
Daffodils and bluebells.
Sitting outside my favourite pub with a glass of wine.
Spending time with my mum or my sisters.
That first sip of coffee from the Tassimo each morning.
The house to myself for a few hours ( I have been known to hug myself with the sheer joy of it).

Layter · 30/04/2014 20:05

Settling down with the newest book from my very favourite author, knowing that the hours spent reading are going to be top quality time spent.

A friend has glorious ginger hair, I spotted her the other day walking along a street caught in a bolt of sunlight that made her hair look like something that poets would write a song about.

rabbitrisen · 30/04/2014 20:22

Sunshine. But not too hot!

BertieBotts · 30/04/2014 20:58

I love meeting cats when you're out and don't expect it. Especially when they are really friendly cats. I miss having a cat and it's nice to get my "fix" Grin

t3rr3gl35 · 30/04/2014 21:00

Washing on the line.
Getting into bed with fresh linen.
Waking up to birds singing outside.
Watching the tribes of baby bunnies dancing in the garden (tempered by the little brutes eating the bedding plants)
The horses whickering when they see me.
Discovering lily of the valley in the garden at the weekend.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 30/04/2014 21:03

Oh bertie me too! I talk to all the cats i meet in my travels. I think because i have a cat and am so used to wittering on to her that i forget not to with other ones. My ds(4) told me off one day for talking to a 'stranger cat'. I said cat's like being talked to and he said it was ok to talk to cats we know but not ones we dont know Grin

The changing seasons, they come round at just the right time and i love seeing the changes.

My dog is so happy to se me when I get home she wriggles her whole body and makes happy noises Smile

Jellyboobs · 30/04/2014 21:12

Seeing the kitchen all clean with no crumbs or pots, done by me, but hey, it makes me relax. Especially if the sun is coming in too.

DD 'reading' We just got a new Mog book out and she knows the story already (she's 2) so she holds it on her knee and tells me what is hapoening. I can hardly breathe with happiness.

BertieBotts · 30/04/2014 21:13

Grin I suppose he has a point, but I talk to all cats too! Maybe tell him he's thinking of dogs. I also sniffed its head and it smelled like somebody's home Blush is that weird? I love the smell of pet fur. Puppy paws!

chocoholicanon · 30/04/2014 21:13

My 4 year old niece shouting "I love you Aunty Chocoholic" to me down the road when leaving her house.

I live in a 9th floor flat and having the lift at the right floor when I need it is the best thing ever.

Fresh crisp bedding on the bed.

Daisypops · 30/04/2014 21:13

A warm.house makes me happy

hearing my dc sing in the bath.

Seeing dc play in the fresh air and belly laugh and come in filthy!

Baking a cake

Seeing my dc eat all their tea
