I do.

It's my neighbours across the road. They garden together with their little baby 'helping' aswell. I'm single and make no secret of the fact i would like to have someone i could do normal house and family stuff with but seeing these 3 out together working as a team brings me so much (unexpected) joy that i actually wonder if i'm a bit weird.

Does anyone else have something simple that brings you joy like this?

When people at sports events or concerts realise they're on the big screen and get all excited.

Dogs carrying massive sticks that are clearly too big for them to cope with- they always look so proud at what they've found.

A really good, very obvious combover.

Bertie we are getting a new kitten tomorrow and i cant wait to get a nose full of that milky kitten smell Grin

when I wriggle my toes into my Birkenstocks for the first time of the year Smile

EmpressOfBedlam · 30/04/2014 21:45

I get a stupidly large about if happiness when I turn my mobile phone onto ring in a school holiday, it signifies a lovely break.

I also adore it when my littlest dd snuggles up next to me in the morning and sucks her thumb and I can almost her her brain thinking little girl thoughts. If I ask her what she is thinking she won't ever tell me!

EmpressOfBedlam · 30/04/2014 21:46

about if?? ...... Bout of!

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 30/04/2014 21:54

Ahh Birkenstocks! My mum got me a pair of the birkenstock slippers for xmas. BLISS!! Best part of my day is coming home kicking the shoes off sending ds for my slippers and sliding my feet into them Grin

When I drop dc off at school, ds2 (5) shouting "love you mum!" repeatedly until he has gone round the corner and can't see me any more. Ds1 *8) even waits and waves or blows a kiss. All the other children are chatting to each other or just thinking their own thoughts and their little faces smiling at me every time I look round gets me through the day.

Shlurpbop · 30/04/2014 22:17

My drive to work takes me all along a coastal road overlooking the sea- it's the main reason I will never leave my job! I actually miss that drive when I'm on annual leave!

TheSpottedZebra · 30/04/2014 22:17

One I've just had... opening the freezer to find it packed full of meals and things that I've made and frozen. It makes me feel so on top of things.

White-whiskered dogs having a really happy walk, despite their old age

Sleepyhoglet · 30/04/2014 22:24

Spotting sausage dogs. If I see one it makes my day.

WitchOfEndor · 30/04/2014 22:26

I love seeing the guide dog at my work. He can be guiding his person to the kitchen, standing still in the lift or lying under his desk, every time I see him it makes my heart swell a little bit. Even hearing his collar jangling makes me smile. He is such a good dog and not at all an uncontrollable goofball like my lab

OneLittleLady · 30/04/2014 22:36

My DS telling me he loves me to the moon and back
DP stroking my hair just because he knows I like it
A really nice cup of tea
Daffodils
Freshly baked welsh cakes
Fresh sheets on the bed
The smell of just out of the washer clothes

Bogeyface · 30/04/2014 22:41

When DD3 and DS2 come out of school and they both run over and give me a huge hug shouting "Muuuuum!".

Hearing the village donkey Grin

I've never seen him but I often hear him!
Some people wanted him put to sleep or moved because of the noise he makes Hmm
So every time I hear him I think of it as a big middle finger up to those who wanted him gone Grin

Feeding the birds. I just love putting out the DC's breakfast crumbs and crusts and hearing all the birds call to each other that the food has arrived, then swooping down onto the patio to eat it.

Cuddling the cat when he's in the mood. He wraps his paws round my neck and does this massively throaty purr which makes him sound like cuddling is as good as it gets.

Watching DC do things for themselves that just a year ago I did for them. Watching them make toast or sandwiches or pour ceral into bowls. They are still young enough to look cute and like they are playing at being grown up.

NotYouNaanBread · 19/05/2014 18:12

Getting into bed with clean linen sheets, especially if it's still bright outside. Our bedroom is a south facing attic conversion with south facing French doors. Perfectly modest by general standards (our house is tiny), but amazing by my own (apparently remarkably easy to please) standards.

Cotton sheets feel weird, cold and slippery after linen. Mmmmmm.....

Alisvolatpropiis · 19/05/2014 18:22

My dog running through long grass. She's very little so ends up doing rabbit like hops. It is so cute.

I always feel a bit sad when the grass is trimmed for summer for that reason.

BernardlookImaprostituterobotf · 19/05/2014 18:24

It's been a hard winter. It's been a run of difficult winters actually.

So these early sunny, summery days - all the lambs and calves and weaners are full of it of course but the warmth seems to fill up the oldies with life.
There are just points in the day where everyone is playing. Sheep with lambs, cows with calves, the dogs and me and the dc. All moved by the same rhythm.

My oldest dog sunbathing on the hillock watching over her adopted brood like an old matriarch. You can almost feel her satisfaction at a job well done.

Sitting with my feet in the stream, watching the fish and water boatmen. Frogs and toads shouting and kingfishers darting like flashes of light.

Meadow flowers being courted by bees and butterflies. Ten minutes peace to sit in the grass with butterflies landing on my head and all the bees fly up to pip hello & see if you're interesting. Listening to the grasshoppers & if you're very lucky seeing an Adder.

The first time you see the young Badgers out

Shooing off all the ruddy deer. I pretend to be cross but I actually love seeing them.

Seeing many and various children unleashed. I could watch kids be fascinated all day and just running and jumping and tumbling about. That little bum out squat they do to investigate something. Never fails to cheer me up.

A couple of these posts have made me grin - Deer's made my lip wobble with sentiment!

EvenBetter · 19/05/2014 18:24

Recently I had clean sheets on and new pyjamas. At the same time.
Starting a new book by an author I love
Seeing dogs get new homes
Seeing someone being loving to their dog
Everything about my dog makes me burst with love and happiness.
Fizzy wine
Giving my mum a hug. (Need to do this more often)
Giving presents to people
Having a letter from a pen pal come through the door.

EvenBetter · 19/05/2014 18:27

spottedZebra oh god! after losing our old girl in September I often well up when I see grey faced dogs shuffling along! always want to shout out of my car to them to cherish their dogs while they still have them and slow down and wait for them.
Sob.
