Do you have something that makes you disproportionately happy?

I do.

It's my neighbours across the road. They garden together with their little baby 'helping' aswell. I'm single and make no secret of the fact i would like to have someone i could do normal house and family stuff with but seeing these 3 out together working as a team brings me so much (unexpected) joy that i actually wonder if i'm a bit weird.

Does anyone else have something simple that brings you joy like this?

Heavy, pissing down, heavens opening, drumming on the roof rain. Always lifts my spirits. Love being in my in laws conservatory listening to it especially. Also like being out in it. And heavy blizzards too

A really, really good song. Once in a while something comes along and I'll listen to it on repeat without ever getting tired of it, or, it'll come on the radio months later and I get a huge lift. Last song like this-avicii wake me up. I'm sure people seeing me bopping in the car think I'm nuts.

Weather can be exhilarating!

Having house martins nest just under our bedroom window makes he disproportionally happy, esp hearing the baby birds chilp chilp

Watching the DS's together. The other day, DS1 (almost 7) wrapped a towel around his little brother (almost 4) as he got out of the shower. It was so caring and thoughtful and sweet.

Last week DS1 telling me my spag bol was DELICIOUS (thankyou Anabel Karmel for the hidden veg sauce!) He rarely eats anything I cook, he picks like a bird. I also had a win on the mini pear muffins I made, he asked me to make them again!

Geese honking while flying overhead lifts my spirits for some reason!

Baking a cake for when dd gets home from school (made chocolate and banana muffins today) that i know she'll devour as soon as she gets in
Clean sheets
An early night with a good book
Hanging washing out
Snuggled up in bed or just being warm and dry inside when its raining/thundering

Having a beautiful, affectionate, strokable cat to go home to.

Getting into my bed. Pure joy.

Getting a genuine smile for absolutely no reason from my DS.

Hearing my DS stop outside my bedroom door at 6 a.m. and whisper 'I love you Mummy' so as not to wake me.

A warm sunny day with a line full of washing,

My little cat curled up on my lap purring,

My 6ft 3" son giving me a hug,

Walking with headphones in listening to music.

A clean house.
If I could afford to work more I would just so I could have a cleaner!

small children wearing glasses. to me, it is one of the most adorable things

i don't have children (with glasses or otherwise) so i worry that this is rather weird

gah, not that i think wearing glasses is weird or anythign, just that my particular feelings might be weird!

The 400 year old oak in my garden.

He's slightly scary because he's so big but I can't wait to get that part of the garden done so I can hang a swinging chair off him (need about 60 feet of rope to go over the first branch)

Managing to leap onto (into?) a tube carriage just as the doors are closing. It's always all I can do to stop myself doing a fistpump of triumph!

Setting up the teddies to do silly things for my massive tee a to find and seeing them pretend to be disgusted at my uncool giggling.

Friday afternoon cake baking.

Waking early to a glorious sunrise and knowing all the people I love are asleep and close.

My dog thrusting her head under my chin.

I get weirdly happy and overexcited if I'm watching a film/TV drama or reading a book and there is a party scene.

I don't know why, I just love party scenes. Perhaps it's cos I don't get out much.

Flocks of birds overhead. Big, fat flocks with hundreds of em, all wheeling and circling and cheeping. It fills me with joy.
Also, a full tank of diesel makes me feel like I've really got my life in order.

DH leaves for work before me. Sometimes I find he's left my favourite cup, with spoon, teabag and milk in, next to the kettle. And the kettle has been boiled and put on 'stay warm' so I am SECONDS away from a cuppa.

It makes me feel cherished.

Hanging washing out on an early summers morning. Listening to the birds. All that promise at the start of the day. And beautifully smelling laundry later. I can honestly say it's the time I feel most alive. I am NOT a winter person!

Our two cats. I just completely LOVE them
