Internet, pub, out on the street, bus stop???
I met mine as I was on the way out to go to the cinema with someone else...never dreamt we would be together all these years laterGrin
What about you?

I met mine in Copenhagen Airport - he actually proposed to me in the bar where we first met.

Should add I wasn't picking up random strangers in Copenhagen, we were on a trip to Amsterdam as part of a group of people who worked together in the town in Sweden where we all lived. We worked for two different consultancies at the same firm, so I tagged along with people from my company and he with people from his.

What is really bizarre, though, is that after that I finally twigged that he was the person who lived in the flat next to me, literally his front door was 5 metres down the hall from mine. We had lived next door to each other for six months, gone to work in the same place every day (different buildings but even so) and still never met.

In Ibiza - clubbing.

It wasn't a holiday romance though we just hung around in a big group & swopped numbers to carry on partying when we got back to the UK.

7 years later we're married with two DS & the mate I went to Ibiza with is married to his brother with 1 DD. !!!

at a fantastic New Years party in Glasgow. He was my friends best friends boyfriends friend, we were the only people from Irelnad at party and my friend drunkenly told him that I had always wanted to marry a farmer - well, 18 months later I did just that.

Sigh,... I love that memoryGrin

We'd been away to a lifeguard competition. He gave me a lift home from the minibus and has been here ever since! That was 8 years ago and we've been married for 6.

In a pub on christmas eve 2002, I went there with an xp and some friends, dh was there with his friends.
My xp knew one of dh's friends and went to speak to him, I started a conversation with dh and it went from there.
Started talking over the internet on boxing day (we lived 7 miles apart), then started to meet up for lunch, our friendship and relationship grew, 3 months later we were living together.

real cliche here - on holiday (well sor to)

We were both travelling independently (and alone). We hooked up on a ferry going from mainland Greece to Corfu, decided to carry on to Italy and France (I was meant to be going the other way - to Israel eventually!)

12 years later.....

university. knew him a bit for 2 years and fancied him from afar. then somehow it all came together. there was a certain inevitability about it. One of those situations where you find all your other friends have buggered off, just leaving the two of you, and you suspect they did it deliberately

Chandra · 01/06/2006 22:55

3 hrs after I landed in Spain for the first time. I found him soooo insufferable that when he left I thought Dear!is it that I'm going to marry him?...

Amiable · 01/06/2006 23:00

dp and I work in the same company (same dept actually!) and we had worked together for two years before we got together. There was no unrequited love or anything - I went out with a couple of other men during that time, and he had crushes on a couple of other women - we were good friends and I would give him advise on how to get them interested in him too! After a couple of years I just started looking at him differently - I waited ages (about three/four months) before I made a move though, as I was really nervous he would just laugh in my face. instead I got really, really drunk and pounced on him after a works do, when there was only us two left! That was almost two years ago. he is the best thing that ever happened to me, I'm just sorry it took so long for me to see what was right under my nose all that time.

SaintGeorge · 01/06/2006 23:06

Told this before but here goes anyway.

Went to a concert in Sheffield. Concert cancelled at last minute so 2 coach loads of people got very pissed in 2 very friendly Sheffield pubs before crawling back onto coaches home.

Picture me, very pissed, very long hair loose down back, wandering down aisle of coach trying to find a seat. Someone grabs hair, caveman grip sort of grab and pulls me onto seat for a long snogging session. After coming up for air we swap names and numbers.

17th wedding anniversary in July. Smile

cece · 01/06/2006 23:22

Student bar in 1986, both very drunk Smile

Lact8 · 01/06/2006 23:28

When he was 11 and knocked on my mum's front door, stood in his ankle biting trousers and grunted

'Is yer brother coming out to play football?'

He's my DB's best mate.

He first asked me out when he was 16, telling me he was a man now. i pointed out that I was 23, a single mum and it wasn't happening. Jokingly I told him if I was still single when he was 19 I'd let him take me for a drink.

He joined the Army and I didn't see him for 3 years.

He came home on leave for his 19th birthday and phoned me up. He said I'd promised him that I would, so I met him in our local pub.

My jaw nearly hit the floor when I walked in, he wasn't a scrawny boy anymore and he was gorgeous

I was pretty freaked out at the age difference at first and worried how my brother would react.

Now I've realised he's a 40 year old bloke hiding in the body of a 23 year old, so much more mature than me

My brother gave him a 'you hurt my sister and i'll kill you' talk. He's fine about it and thinks DP is the best thing that's happened to me

We've been together for nearly 4 years now and have ds1 (9), ds2 (2) and dd (5 months)
