The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Giving Up Booze For Lent.

1000 replies

Mouseface · 25/03/2011 21:01

Hello.

I'm Mouse. Smile

We are a Bus load of posters with various relationships with the demon booze. Some are sober, some are not and some are inbetween.

So come say hi and meet the rest of The Babes, there's always plenty of room on the Bus, the doors are ALWAYS open.

No judgy pants are worn on this journey, pants yes and even the odd Tena Lady but always of the non judging variety. Grin

Well, in the absence of your eloquence, it was the best I could do! Your poem did make me grin, though!

If I send you my craving to look after, I'll have yours...

Hope the babies let you get enough sleep that 6am isn't too painful.

Tristmum · 11/04/2011 20:35

ps, Mouse, hope your poorly throat is a little bit better tonight.

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 11/04/2011 20:44

Oh IsinDe you're such a star!
So clever and witty, that's what you are,
No quip or charm, nor produce a ditty,
If I only tried, oh what a pity.

My words would muddle and serve you no sense,
Best go off to bed and inhale magic incense Smile

I hope your resolve stays intact tonight lovely. Thanks for being you, I'm thinking more Medised or the like to knock my little fella out! Wink

Night Brave Babes xxxxxx

Evening babes........I hope those cravings pass v.soon.

Apologies for the over emotional, self-pitying claptrap last night! I was a bit hormental and was not helped by afternoon wine drinking on an empty stomach Hmm

Felt as rough as a badger's arse this morning, absolutely no desire to drink today. Anyway, thanks all for your help yesterday.

Cup of tea and bed for me. Need to be on good form tomorrow, all my team have got interviews for internal jobs (but only 1 of them can get one?!?) so I need to support them all as best I can.........defo not a day to be hungover.

Tristmum · 11/04/2011 21:02

Isinde - consider it kicked.

Mouse, I think a martyr emoticon would come in handy on AIBU where I compulsively surf to avoid work occasionally browse.

Medised always had the opposite effect on the (older) DCs when they had colds, think the flavouring made them a little bit hyperactive Hmm

Night Babes

Tristmum · 11/04/2011 21:03

Sorry Munky, x-posted - good luck for tomorrow, not a nice thing to have to go through.

venusandmars · 11/04/2011 21:15

isindie that poem was the funniest thing I've read Grin Grin Grin. By choosing not to drink tonight, and instead to put your energy into that poem you've made many people smile.

Hope all other babes are well. I was away most of last week and only caught a couple of glimpses of this thread. I saw a few new posters (or maybe previous posters with new names?) so 'hello and welcome' if I haven't met you before.

Hope you're feeling better soon little mouse

Zanywany · 11/04/2011 22:27

THank you for the shake and hug Mouse. I think I just worry that I don't feel that does he/doesn't he like me excited feeling with DP. I probably confuse this with feeling excited about someone new and I don't get that with DP probably because he doesn't play games but tells me how he feels and I trust him. He did blow his chances Venus. Still confused.com though. Also XH being an abolute twat pain. Still being difficult over money and then yesterday he kind of squared up to me, I felt very threatened and so when I asked him to back off I was called deluded and told to grow up. Ffs. He completely denies hitting me when we were together, thinks I am making it up. Makes you doubt yourself. Anyway enough time spent thinking about the idiot XH.

I lved your poem Isindie

Hope your thoat and Nemo are better tomorrow Mouse

And tonight I didn't drink Grin but instead I stripped the pain off the rest of thetiles in the kitchen. Having a bit of a revamp in time for a family party at Easter.

JaneS · 11/04/2011 23:17

Grin I love the poetic turn the thread has taken!

I am just marking the beginning of my third sober month - two months down yesterday. Smile

Thanks so much all, I would be floundering without you.

Hope you feel better soon mouse.

Night night all.

Morning lovely babes, and Miflaw,

Isindie glad you're feeling "boingy" today Smile, did you get some sleep?

DH's Birthday yesterday, so I made a lovely dinner, but the washing up took ages, I seemed to have used every item in the kitchen. I also have some old (Very) serving dishes which have to be washed in fairy dust and dried with gossamer, or they will disintegrate! I still use them all the time tho!
I arranged for DH to have a day sea fishing, which he is really pleased about, with that and the cricket net, you can see where his interests lie Hmm, his brother has arranged for golf!!!!!

I am going to try to clear my college assignment today, so that I don't think about it for the rest of Easter, but can think of lots of other things to do instead!
Zany bad boys are fascinating Grin, but it sounds like you've got a winner with DP, who isn't one.

Love to all xxxx
How's nemo today Mouse?
Ma Are you having a good time?

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 12/04/2011 08:03

Gaah, not that DP doesn't sound fascinating Zany, just that I do know that sort of excited feeling, and half the time it's because you are so unsure of them, that it's anxiousness more than excitement (been there Grin )

jesuswhatnext · 12/04/2011 09:15

BOING!!!

morning babes!

lovely bright shiny new day, i feel all boingy, glad you do too isindi! Grin

thurso, sounds like your dh was properly spoilt yesterday, i hope he appreciates it!

am off to work, see you later babes!

Rubyredlips · 12/04/2011 10:44

Morning all

Loved the poems - I did a yoga course once and was asked to write a poem. I totally freaked at the thought (very un-yoga acting) and didn't do a good job of it!

JWIM how about Just What Is Mumsnet?

Zany I know where you're coming from, it's the 'grass is greener' syndrome.

Thurso hope you get the assignment done

Mouse hope your throat's better and that the milkshake helped.

Does anyone know where Noteven has gone? Is she ok?

Hi to everyone else

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 12/04/2011 11:00

Morning Babes.

Shocking night with Nemo, still breathing issues but a few coffees in and I'm showered, dressed, fed and ready to face the day ahead.

DD has gone off to Gma's for a few days whilst her room is ripped apart, stripped back to the stone and re-plastered. More fecking dust.

Dh is out interviewig all day so it's just me and Nemo to play trains and go to the park! His new wooden train set is awesome!

DH Nemo loves it Grin

So, well done LRD in a whole 2 months under your belt, I bet you can really feel and see the difference now Smile

Nice to see the boingy Babes today!

thurso - it sounds as though DH is happy to be getting out and about, I bet that will help to lift his mood no end.

But, how are YOU? xx

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 12/04/2011 11:00

Ruby - will pm you Smile

JWIM · 12/04/2011 11:47

Ruby I'm loving the 'Just What Is Mumsnet'.

DH would say - a replacement for alcohol sometimes and I say what's wrong with that! At least it doesn't leave me with unexplained bumps and bruises, a constant sense that everything is about to fall down and guilt (well maybe a bit when I'm on MN when I should be getting on with 'stuff'!). What it does give me is a real sense of friendship and support, a determination to keep on ODAAT, lots of laughs and a feeling of shared experience that I just can't replicate in RL with regards to the drinking. And I think the BBs (posting or lurking) and MIFLAW (and any other lurking chaps) have helped me through a very big change in my life and I will always be grateful for having fallen upon MN and JWN's first thread.

LRD congratulations on the two month mark. It's amazing how each ODAAT adds up to a whole week, two weeks and two months.

All is well here - sun is shining. Hope everyone has a happy and successful day - whatever it might involve.
