I found some porn in my bathroom

.. and asked the DCs if they'd downloaded it.

This was a pretty stupid thing to do. Nuclear war has erupted. The trouble was that in 18 years of marriage, DH has never used porn (so far as I am aware). He never normally goes into that bathroom, whereas the DCs do. Also I did not know that he'd been at home. It never occurred to me that it was him.

Now DD is screaming at her father that he is a filthy pervert. He's screaming at me for being stupid, which in fairness it was. And I'm in shock really.

What next

OP posts:
popcrackle · 20/02/2011 21:52

TheyKnowEsperento well I think Squeaky has just confirmed that she wouldn't mind a partner doing what the OP's DH did, so she does not appear to have an issue with a 14 year old being exposed to porn. Hmm

I suppose she would also be totally fine with a daughter or son taking up smoking, as long as it got the legal tick there.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought it was Squeaky who brought up the word pervert?

Worraliberty I was not aware of any posters taking issue with porn models?

DirtyMartini · 20/02/2011 21:54

"Clearly I have a far better idea than a lot of you!!! Which is why I don't need to hang about on Relationships."

Confused What does this even mean?

Although fwiw, I don't "hang about on Relationships" either. I actually have it hidden in Active Convos because it's so fucking depressing and time-sucking ... but saw this on Most Active and clicked for some unknown reason.

Maybe because the normalizing-of-porn-everywhere thing has been bothering me a lot lately, thinking about my own two young dc and what they will be contending with when they grow up and try to have healthy happy sex lives.

popcrackle · 20/02/2011 21:55

Should have added to my comment to Worraliberty but posters do take issue with the Porn Industry - yes, why on Earth wouldn't you, but not individuals who have been caught up in.

It isn't an industry that promotes the informed choice of participants.

squeakytoy · 20/02/2011 21:55

One of the biggest myths of all is that porn enhances a sex life. It doesn't

How on earth would you know that? It may not have enhanced yours, or people that you have spoken to about it, but how could you possibly be able to speak on behalf of people who you do not know?

PeterAndreForPM · 20/02/2011 21:56

I was also a bit Shock that this sensitive thread was tweeted for Alouiseg's pro-porn mates to comment on

the OP has said from the beginning she has political objections to porn

I wonder how she feels about her family business being re-mixed and re-presented to a bunch of people who think all women should be accepting of porn's corrosiveness on family life

chilling

absolutely chilling

cantspel · 20/02/2011 21:56

Alouiseg should be banned for doing that, it's utterly outrageous and very, very nasty.

popcrackle · 20/02/2011 21:58

Hey SqueakyToy do yourself a favour and read the link I posted earlier. You might find it educational.

worraliberty · 20/02/2011 21:58

I love sex, that's why I'm so against porn - porn sex is not mutually enjoyable, loving, relationship enhancing sex

Maybe not in your house or your relationship but each to their own aye?

Dittany, the last porn film I watched had men in it too so why do you keep going on about degrading women? How does it degrade women anyway? Women have sex, men have sex, some people like to watch other people having sex. It's not degrading at all when all are consenting and having fun.

squeakytoy · 20/02/2011 21:58

well I think Squeaky has just confirmed that she wouldn't mind a partner doing what the OP's DH did, so she does not appear to have an issue with a 14 year old being exposed to porn.

Are you totally incapable of reading a post popcrackle?

shall i repost again, so that you can read it properly?

Yes, I would be completely fine with a partner who occasionally looked at porn, providing it was legal, adult, and not child porn or bestiality.

I dont police the minds of others.

I would not be happy if he left it lying around in a public place in the house.

popcrackle · 20/02/2011 22:00

squeakytoy - how do you know if it is legal?

popcrackle · 20/02/2011 22:02

Sorry but why would they tweet? It could out the OP.

ChippingInFanciesCheeseOnToast · 20/02/2011 22:03

Theyknowesperanto she was not exposed to it until she chose to take her Dad's laptop, bypass the passwords and snoop through it. Her Mum just said there were some pictures in the bathroom... as far as DD was concerned they could have been scantily clad ladies in a provocative poses.

LITR - yes, everyone in porn is being raped Hmm

FWIW I don't view all the anti-porn posters on this thread as being anti-porn per se - they are against the majority (and reality) of porn as currently produced (trafficking, exploitation, degradation of women). Some may also be against porn full stop but that's not how I am viewing the majority of anti-porn posters stance on here. Which makes me wonder if there is not a market out there for fair trade porn.

For those in the industry (Squeakytoy etc) does the porn industry have any kind of self-regulating award system where porn is labelled as having a morally clean provenance? I for one do believe that there are some people who enjoy being in porn films but they would technically be exhibitionists and they wouldn't need to be paid to do it - it would be for their own sexual benefit - and it is at this point all porn would become automatically free because it would no longer be a commercial transaction. Are any of your glamour models true exhibitionists or are they all getting paid for their photos? Isn't the thrill of having their photo taken and knowing people will be wanking to it enough for them?

worraliberty · 20/02/2011 22:08

Can you tell Chipping? Who is and who isn't

There are many TV shows on Sky, sexetera is a very entertaining and informative look at the sex industry. Lots of very successful porn models chat on there about their careers and how much they enjoy them. A lot of them also go on to direct and produce movies too.

It's quite easy to tell if you follow certain stars as one might follow mainstream stars. A lot of them have pages on Twitter too.
