The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Carry On Past The Christmas Party (part 2)

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 15/12/2010 13:51

Hello

I'm Mouse.

Welcome to the Brave Babes Bus - Gerald! Blame Silver for the name! Grin

We are a group of MNers who post about our relationship with alcohol and how drinking it, or not, has an effect on our day to day lives.

Come and meet the other Brave Babes, say hi, take a seat or just read.

Here are the threads so far

he has hot chocolate in a flask around his neck and cold chocolate in one of his saddle bags. He has a Babenav to direct him and is lolloping in your direction as we speak. The rest of us are following behind in Gerald, laughing at what a big soppy tart you are!!!

Whitenapteen · 19/12/2010 21:19

Venus you are safe. You are strong. You have analysed your situation so you have taken back power where you can - eat something sweet, acknowledge your anger - who wouldn't be, there is bound to be a 'babe' around to keep you company and of course you're tired so take time to breath rhythmically to calm and relax your body.

We are here sending you our love and concern.

venusandchristmars · 19/12/2010 21:20

I am in a mixture of crying at the strength of your support and laughing at Zany writing PANIS which I read as something much more phallic. Back in a mo.

Please don't leave me.

sleighrideinthursnow · 19/12/2010 21:22

Venus have you got yourself a soft drink and something to read?

Sorry, I thought you had heard that you didn't have long until your flight.

It does get really claustrophobic in an airport when there are delays, so, don't hesistate to ask to go somewhere quiet, it will be cooler and more airy as well.
Bl**dy hell, pretend you're in labour!!!!

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 19/12/2010 21:23

We are here venus and NOT going anywhere xx

Silverbaubleonatree · 19/12/2010 21:23

V - go into the toilets, lock yourself in a cubilcle. Sit down and rest your head in your hands. Close your eyes and breathe, concentrate on your breathing, nothing else, in and out, in and out. totally focus your mind on your breathing, listen to it, feel it, keep going until you feel calmer. you can do it. x

sleighrideinthursnow · 19/12/2010 21:24

Just realised you meant 16 mins on the mobile [doh! icon]

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 19/12/2010 21:25

venus - listen to Silver.

You need to control your breathing. Slow it down, right down.

Slowly. Quietly. Gently.

venusandchristmars · 19/12/2010 21:28

Dementedma thank you. You've made me weep at the thought of Gerald and the Babes coming to my rescue. You have come to my rescue tonight.

It is so crazy here. One after one, flights are being cancelled, people are being 'sorted' - the background music as schmaltzy stuff - it feels like being in some rubbish Christmas film.

And to top it all mone of my contact lenses has gone wonky (all that crying) so I'm peering at the screen with one eye. I look like a crazy woman.

dementedma · 19/12/2010 21:29

pretend you are in labour - lmao, that's a great one.Surreptiously empty a bottle of water down your trouser leg and scream "My waters have gone!"
Recite your favourite poem to take your mind off things - I used to be able to do all of Ode to Autumn but can only remember bits now.
have visions of Silver screaming Gerald into a handbrake turn in Bristol airport and all the Babes in flak jackets and hard hats racing through the startled throngs and yelling "put the bottle down and step out of the bar NOW!!" Grin

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 19/12/2010 21:32

venus - I'm watching Die Hard with DH. I have visions of you running out and screaming 'Yippee ki ay Mother Fucker' as you fly past the knobs in the bar and onto a plane!

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

OP posts:
venusandchristmars · 19/12/2010 21:35

Just to explain - I'm an old bird so I don't do tachnology well. I'm using an airport 'pay as you go' computer. I don't have an i-phone or anything clever. I do texting quite well, but that would take a fortnight (I only text in proper English, with Capitals and punctuation, and correct spelling (well sort of)).

My contact lens is sorted so I'm reading you all with 2 eyes.

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 19/12/2010 21:37

venus - read you last post back. It's SO much calmer. You are getting there.

Now that you know we are there with you, you are safe, we are there holding your hand.

It's okay. It really, really is xxx

OP posts:
BBwannaB · 19/12/2010 21:39

Where are you trying to get to Venus? could we 'relay' you? If there is a Babe in Bristol who could head you up the M4, another one to London etc...

venusandchristmars · 19/12/2010 21:41

Silver I may have a fat tummy but I do not look pregnant!.

Right, please put all your thoughts into making the Edinburgh flight OK. Please aski for it not to be cancelled. I've got into a more controlled place here. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. EVERY ONE OF YOU.

But I don' really want to go off to an anonymous hotel for the night. In fact, I'm DReADING going off to an anonymous hotel for the night.

Please, can gerald fly? Please can you all (just this once) don cabin crew outfits? Please can you get me home tonight. I will feel safe there. I will not feel this awful temptation. I will survive.

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 19/12/2010 21:41

Good idea BBB

I can give you a bed for the night venus. I'm in Shropshire xx

OP posts:
venusandchristmars · 19/12/2010 21:44

demented - poetry Hmm Hmm if i start reciting the poetry of Wilfred Owen (war stuff) will they cart me away to somewhere safe and warm? - maybe in a special warm jacket?

dementedma · 19/12/2010 21:46
venusandchristmars · 19/12/2010 21:47

mousese I am calmer. Thankyou.

I am breathing (well obviously!) but you know (all of you who suggested it) - I am breathing properly.

dementedma · 19/12/2010 21:48

oooh, love Wilfred Owen - "Gas, gas, quick boys, an ecstasy of fumbling../The old lie Dulce et Decorum est pro Patria Mori"

Here's one to make you laugh:
"there once was a lady called Ina
who had an enornous vagina.
When asleep on the beach
She awoke with a screech
And found she had dry-docked a liner" Grin

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 19/12/2010 21:51

venus - Nemo needs me. I have to go but PLEASE be okay!

I will check back in the morning and make sure you are but if you need a bed in shropshire, shout!!!

xxxxx

OP posts:
BBwannaB · 19/12/2010 21:53

If they close the airport tonight I will come and get you, (not that close, but close enough) then get you to London tomorrow to get a train?

venusandchristmars · 19/12/2010 22:14

Babes, you are wonderful - those of you posted and those of you who held your breath and thought 'oh shit'.

Mouse of course nemo is your priority - enjoy him and love him.

My panic has passed (well not passed but subsuded). I'm not headed for the bar, and I'm holding onto every ounce of optimism that a plane that is not yet cancelled might just fly.

I have the number of a 'friend-of-a-friend' near Bristol. She has not replied yet but at least I feel there is an option.

If any of you are near Edinburgh airport, please go out there with sspades and cans of defroster and make it safe for me to come home tonight.

Sleeping sober in my own bed will be so sweet

sleighrideinthursnow · 19/12/2010 22:14

Venus could you get a flight to Gatwick., don't think there's any snow there. My mum and dad live near there, they will give you a bed, and they are lovely. I can ring them.

Had a word "upstairs" about your flight, hope it helps.

Have you got your book and drink?
I have excavated my old Caledonian uniform, in case it's needed Smilexxxx

Silverbaubleonatree · 19/12/2010 22:15

Venus - do you know what is going to get you through tonight - whatever happens - the love and support and care on this thread. I am in Manchester but if I didn't have DD to look after I would be on the road to collect you right now.

I have the same feeling about AA as I do about the BBs - I feel at home, comfortable, like I belong, like I have found a place where I can finally get some peace - and I know that if I was ever in a situation like you are right now, Venus i would do exactly what you have done and screamed from the rooftops for help.

You are such an amazing woman, and I think that it will have helped us all to know, that the one we think of (well I do anyway) as the wise one, the calm and collected one, the one with such brilliant advice, is still not immune to the feking evil pull of the booze.

So you my darling are going to be strong tonight - and you will not pick up. I know that because I just do xxx

Any news on your flight? x
