Radio Times Ambridge Diary 5-10 January
Leonard is knocked sideways by some emotional news and all does not go well when he faces a difficult day with the Brookfield family standing by his side. Harrison has to fight to keep his emotions in check when he faces a challenging callout, but then receives a surprising offer from his superior. Lily takes matters into her own hands when Brad tells her he's struggling, Jolene makes a rash decision at The Bull, and Khalil's mouth runs away with him.

12th January – 17th January 2025
12.1 Justin faces a dilemma, and plans forge ahead for Ruth.
13.1 Joy isn’t herself at all, and Helen considers her options.
14.1 Rex is left confused, and Neil has questions.
15.1 The verdict is in for Kirsty, and Brian finds himself out of his comfort zone.

Do we know who Scarlett is?

If we do, I've forgotten.

She's probably Nelly's daughter,

She could be Nelly herself. If , as we suspect, Miss Nelly Bun did more than just find baby Neil she could have been as young as early teens which would make her early 80s now.

Jill Baker is an established actress and is 72.

No idea who Scarlett is. The actress Beatrice White is/ was a child actress. According to IMDB she played Laura in Lark Rise to Ambridge, which I never heard.

The only Scarlett in the programme to date was either Lynda (it is her second name) or Pat's goat, named after her. So it's not likely to be anyone we know.

Scarlett was in Lark Rise to Ambridge but she's never according to IMDB been in the main programme.

The current editor needs to retire. Soon. He's the right age to do it, and he's apparently reached the stage at which people lose their marbles.

Born in 1952, then. Neil was born in 1957. Brian Hewlett was born in 1939. Nelly much older than Jill Baker?

If Nelly Bannister the baker's daughter was fifteen when she found baby Neil on their doorstep, she could now be a mere eighty-two, which is a spring chicken in TA terms.

But as you say Neil the character was born in 1957. Neil is only meant to be 67 or 68. If Nelly was say 13-16 in 1957 she'd only be 82- 84 now so quite believably played by a 72 year old actress.

That must be how it is. Odd, though. Plenty of octogenarian actors they could have booked.

Tbf, with child actors it may help with the chaperone issues.

@Bruisername , @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g , it's quite common for the child of a cast member or another member of the team to be cast.
Fat Dan was played by Keri's son for a while.

I follow a couple of (other) soaps, and in one, a main character's real-life daughter has played the character's daughter from shortly after her birth. in another, a main character's real life daughter plays someone else's daughter.
Both daughters resemble their mothers, but they all seem perfectly capable as actors.

Rochelle has dropped out of the cast list. Are we ever going to get the full story?

Yes. Can't remember if this goes back to child actor age, but Will Grundy is played by son of Mike Tucker actor. Also, after David Troughton was cast as Tony, his son was cast as Tom. Miranda is Simon Williams' real life wife.

Ruth Archer and Matt Crawford are a couple in real life, and we know about Shula and Brian.

Tracey Ridell's daughter does quite a bit of acting, and living in the West Midlands will have (be able to do) the right kind of accent.

Was Rochelle ever actually in the cast list? I thought that as with Gavin, and Brenda, they left her off so she would be a Surprise for the listeners. In which case there's no evidence she won't linger like a bad smell.

Gosh, I didn't know about Ruth and Matt! I believe FF used to live near me. Must keep an eye out.
