Radio Times Ambridge Diary 5-10 January
Leonard is knocked sideways by some emotional news and all does not go well when he faces a difficult day with the Brookfield family standing by his side. Harrison has to fight to keep his emotions in check when he faces a challenging callout, but then receives a surprising offer from his superior. Lily takes matters into her own hands when Brad tells her he's struggling, Jolene makes a rash decision at The Bull, and Khalil's mouth runs away with him.

12th January – 17th January 2025
12.1 Justin faces a dilemma, and plans forge ahead for Ruth.
13.1 Joy isn’t herself at all, and Helen considers her options.
14.1 Rex is left confused, and Neil has questions.
15.1 The verdict is in for Kirsty, and Brian finds himself out of his comfort zone.

This ‘ere upcoming bombshell for Harrison - a withdrawal of the job offer, much to Fallon’s very obvious disappointment? Or disappointment for him as Fallon finally calls it a day (“Since you’re leaving it might be time to make a clean break…”)?

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime , I looked at the other thread and in the two pages I read, there was one positive post, and one positive post that turned out to be negative.

I don't think it's particularly positive here either, is it? You might be a one-woman positivity-wave.

That's why I haven't started my own Isn't The Archers wonderful thread.

Harrison and Fallon's holiday plans are in a tailspin after a bombshell, and Fallon's determination to make the best of it may push them over the edge. Lynda asserts her authority at the cricket club and tries to get Ambridge some national publicity but soon seems to be in over her head. Chelsea plays matchmaker, disastrously, and Alice has an awkward encounter at the pub quiz.

@CaptainMyCaptain , as I said, I enjoyed it, but I've always accepted that it's TA and it is ridiculous sometimes.

When did Wayne head off for his 6 weeks of whatever it was he wandered off to do?

I suspect Harrison's bombshell is something tame like Fallon omitting to get their car MOT'd so he'll have to get a taxi (but I have quite a few better ideas). At a time when we keep hearing that there might need to be job cuts in the police, I don't think they can make him redundant.

Perhaps he's been a bent Copper and the scriptwriters simply omitted to mention it!

Thanks for that, @MollyButton. I went to the inaugural conference in London - and in a tiny way it was one of the things that prompted me to return to academic life. After that I either had no time or no energy! And the prices kept rising and - despite my total love for these threads - I’m not mad about group jollity. (Also, secretly, I’m not above feeling annoyed by lectures on TA given by people half my age who’ve probably been listening for less than a tenth of the time that I have!) So I’ve never been back.

But who knows - maybe this will be the year.

I've never been to the Academic Archers conference but everything seems to be online which makes it easier. Does anyone know if you have to be "live" or the recordings are available "on demand"?

I think Ursula died, didn't she, leaving Rob's father a widower?

Maybe someone she was in prison with?

She had a friend in prison didn't she? I forget her name.
