VW Beetle Cabriolet?

Eastpoint · 16/11/2018 16:46

DDD Well when I googled 'Actuary car' this is what came up

so I'll assume you have a shiny red car.

In real life I'm closely related to an actuary and know lots, they vary from VW Golfs to old Porsches but I reckon you might be in the middle range, maybe a Subaru?

chemenger · 16/11/2018 16:48

I thought actuaries would drive Volvos. Safety statistics and all that.

Miscible · 16/11/2018 17:11

My octogenarian neighbour and her nonagenarian husband drive a Renault Berlingo - and they regularly drive it to Folkestone and the length of France to their house near Marseilles. Respect.

The only actuary I've ever known drove a Vauxhall of some sort, but I think it was a company car and he didn't have much choice.

R4 · 16/11/2018 17:32

Er, what would a life insurance actuary know about the driving habits of octogenarians
I suppose that I thought that a statistician of people would, as a hobby, absorb random bits of information like this. I can imagine you and the motor insurance people swapping data over coffee. I'll stop now.Blush

It's a Volvo though, isn't it.

TheEfficientBaxter · 16/11/2018 18:03

Triumph Stag?

ADarkandStormyKnight · 16/11/2018 18:46

Herald.

BertrandRussell · 16/11/2018 19:21

New Lily?

DerRosenkavelier · 16/11/2018 19:35

Oooh! Is Lily back? Will have to catch up ASAP

Bittermints · 16/11/2018 19:43

I don't think that was a new Lily.

Interesting that Elizabeth has reworked what happened a week ago and is now convinced that she sacked Geraldine. I feel sure a psychiatrist/psychologist would have a good deal to say about this.

TheMadGardener · 16/11/2018 19:44

Well, of the two elderly ladies I know who still drive, one has a shabby old Red Peugeot 206, the other has a nicely kept silver Volkswagen Golf.

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2018 20:10

My user name is double P for security ( I chose that before I'd checked out MN and all it's systems, .like a twit and I CBA to change it)) also it's because that's my lifestyle! Not all the time of course.

Hopefully Lily will sort out Lizzie who's firmly in that large river in Egypt!

None of you have come close on the car. You've forgotten that some of us think more about thrift than image.

So, Lily obviously having problems with Russ? She didn't mention him once. Not making friends, missing out on social life in Manchester. Am I reading it right?

TheEfficientBaxter · 16/11/2018 20:14

We actually did have a Triumph Herald for a while, DarkandStormy!

But I always coveted a white Triumph Stag convertible!!

TheEfficientBaxter · 16/11/2018 20:22

Is it a fairly modern car, DDD? Or one that's been around a while?

What year is it? That might narrow it down a bit!

< can't resist a challenge! >

R4 · 16/11/2018 20:26

Is it some sort of electric/hybrid/eco thing?

DadDadDad · 16/11/2018 20:29

It's a fairly common everyday modern car.

More clues if you engage with my Archers question - what do you think has happened with Lily and Russ?

DadDadDad · 16/11/2018 20:30

It's petrol but the road tax is zero.

Fucksgiven · 16/11/2018 20:33

Toyota Pious DDD!

echt · 16/11/2018 20:34

I think it's the old Lily. No-one could imitate that hectoring bark when she's sorting out someone else's life.

Ah, Lizzie, you liar. At least we know where Lily gets it from. I arfed at the shock of her having actually got up at 6.00. a.m. and sitting around in tracky dacks!! Quelle horreur.:o Presumably she's usually turned out like Grace Kelly.

R4 · 16/11/2018 20:44

what do you think has happened with Lily and Russ?
The shine is starting to wear off. Lily has realised that he's cramping her style and restricting her social life. I don't think she has walked out on him/University but I may be wrong.

TheEfficientBaxter · 16/11/2018 20:47

Well, DDD, Lily didn't mention him at all, did she?

Elizabeth didn't really let her get a word in, and I'm not sure if Johnny knows about Russ.

My guess would be that the novelty is wearing off, they are bickering over the slightest thing, and Lily has siezed on Elizabeth's plight as an excuse to escape for the weekend.

Not very exciting or dramatic, but it seems likeliest to me.

TheEfficientBaxter · 16/11/2018 20:57

And, evidently money is tight.

Maybe Lily has come back for her painting so that she and Russ can auction it off in Manchester (Russ's idea obviously)

DadDadDad · 16/11/2018 21:04

Well, DDD, Lily didn't mention him at all, did she?

Well, exactly, and as Lexi told us on her return last week, you have to pay attention to what people don't say.

Remember Russ does his weekly disgusting protein / vitamin / holistic cleans drink, and that was on a Friday before, so maybe Lily needed to escape his farts... Confused
