Or....

Is she angling for Roy to marry her and then bring her daughters to live in Ambridge?

I notice Brexit was mentioned.

Travelledtheworld · 15/11/2018 20:07

I'm with you BoreOfWhabylon wrt the Lexi Dcenario.
the Mystic Bore is always right !

(Sulking cos I didn't feature in the "posting on the last thread stakes",entire,y my fault I have lost enthusiasm for TA)

ppeatfruit · 15/11/2018 20:36

chemenger We forget that Lynda's a townie. I was laughed at by our local organic poultry farmer because I didn't like the head left on the carcass of a turkey, she said it was due to me being a townie. I don't eat them I must add.

Must there be so much drama because Lexi just wants to bring her girls to Amb.? Could she do so? She's been portrayed as being very efficient and 'on it' you'd think that she's already found out if it possible.

I did mean to type woke, unfortunately I have a couple of friends from uni who use the term unironically so it's common parlance in these parts. We're the same age as Tom Archer. Too old to be doing with such nonsense.

In other news, I also hope Roy goes off to Bulgaria with Lexi and stays there. The sooner the better. I'm still bitter about the affair with Elizabeth and I'm not entirely sure I'm over the bullying of Usha!

onthenaughtystepagain · 15/11/2018 22:41

I'm quite surprised that no one thought to put grab rails in for Peggy before now. She's very old. I would have thought she'd have needed something before this

I said this and I also can't believe that there was no downstairs loo!

TheEfficientBaxter · 15/11/2018 22:42

It's very quiet on here tonight. Where is everybody?

DadDadDad · 15/11/2018 22:56

Where is everybody?

Watching Newsnight. Part of me is lapping up the political drama, but then I remember the future of the country is at stake. Confused

TheEfficientBaxter · 15/11/2018 23:04

I love the fact that Jill is 88 and still driving.

Wonder what sort of car she has?

Eastpoint · 16/11/2018 05:00

I can see Jill in an old red Fiesta, no discussion I can think of about her buying a new car. Something old enough for David & Josh to be able to service. They could have a plot line in which Jill’s car develops a problem and it would cost too much to fix, leading on to whether it’s worth her buying a new car at her age.

Fink · 16/11/2018 06:06

My ex-h's family insist on upgrading cars (and bathrooms, kitchens, and some other stuff) every 3-4 years regardless of whether the current one is still running fine. This is the opposite of my family, who will use cars, bathrooms etc. well past their natural breaking point - we had to keep a car with a hole in the roof, for example, where rainwater would come in and slosh around, collecting in a sagging mass in the bit between the metal and fabric, then every so often you would break hard and the whole bucket load of it would tip down on your head.

I see Jill as being in the first category. Something serviceable, not showy but smart and immaculately clean which is regularly changed for a newer model. Possibly a Honda Civic or Volkswagen Golf.

DoctorTwo · 16/11/2018 06:10

i think Roy might go to Bulgaria with Lexi but if there's a no deal Brexit he will get kicked out back to Britain. I would love to see a lovely future for Rexi, but that means writing out two characters. Sad

EBearhug · 16/11/2018 07:23

Possibly a Honda Civic or Volkswagen Golf.

Yes, this is the sort of thing I think of for Jill, too.

5000FingersofDrT · 16/11/2018 09:02

I think Lexi might finally get upduffed, go back to Bulgaria (Lexit?) and Roy will be left behind getting ever more bitter and miserable.

He's the long-term cast member and she's a relative newcomer who's more likely to be dispensed with. NB Not a spoiler, just my personal speculation Smile

PanicwiththeBisto · 16/11/2018 09:43

Did Jill have that cataract operation?

Nissan Micra, Ford Ka or Kia Picanto

Also if Lexi did go back to Bulgaria pregnant, that would cause all sorts of problems re the birth, surrogacy, adoption, Brexit etc. etc.

TheEfficientBaxter · 16/11/2018 10:15

The car I immediately thought of for Jill was a silver Toyota Yaris.

Definitely more than ten years old, but immaculately kept and very low mileage.

Ben will probably inherit it at some point (or even Rosie, given Jill's pigheadedness longevity Wink)

Bittermints · 16/11/2018 10:19

No way now for Lexi to have a baby before the end of March so we are talking about a post-Brexit surrogacy. If she goes back to Bulgaria, will she be allowed back over here to give birth? Can't see her being allowed back in with two adult daughters. And as you say, Panic (what a great name!), if she has the baby in Bulgaria, what on earth happens then? I know nothing about Bulgaria, but how likely is it that their laws allow surrogacy with the baby being handed over to two gay men?

Apologies to any Bulgarian if I am unfairly maligning your country and you are actually immensely progressive when it comes to gay rights. It's just not my impression of how things are in Eastern Europe.

R4 · 16/11/2018 10:24

You are all wrong. According to DH there is a law somewhere that states that all pensioners have to drive a Honda Jazz.

I really don't understand Jill. She has always been presented as motherhood-personified but she has been failing terribly in recent years. She didn't spot Shula's marriage problems. She now doesn't seem to realise that Lizzie is suffering empty-nest syndrome (partly because of the minor matter that one of the DT is banged up), her business is up the swanny and she's lost staff. Jill seems oblivious.

Bittermints · 16/11/2018 10:28

I'm flabbergasted that Elizabeth has told nobody about Geraldine walking out.

R4 · 16/11/2018 10:45

I'm flabbergasted that Elizabeth has told nobody about Geraldine walking out.

I'm flabbergasted that village gossip hasn't beaten her to it.

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2018 12:35

Ref. Lexi's daughters, it'd be interesting to have 2 beautiful Bulgarian teenage girls invading Amb.

R4 Jill is approaching 90 isn't she allowed to change? DM has certainly changed, she's really hit her 2nd childhood.Sad

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/11/2018 12:42

I feel fond of Jill for no better reason than that her voice sounds exactly like that of a much missed friend (who lived quite close to Ambridge). Until her death in her 90s she drove a 1980s Chevrolet Impala.

MrsArthurShappey · 16/11/2018 13:32

6 posts on the last thread???? 6???!!!! I used to be far more prolific, what's happened to me? *siiiiigh

Fanks for the fred ppeat (where does your name come from, if that's not a personal question?).

I very much enjoyed the image of Helen eyeing up big brown eyed beauties on a lesbian dating app.

EBearhug · 16/11/2018 14:16

I'm flabbergasted that Elizabeth has told nobody about Geraldine walking out.

If she does that, she has to accept Geraldine isn't coming back, and that she has lost control of everything. She's just not accepting reality and how bad things have got. But you'd think Bert would have a quiet word with Jill about it.

TheEfficientBaxter · 16/11/2018 14:35

MrsArthurShappey - I've actually been wondering that too, about ppeatfruit's name.

And many others, to be honest!

DadDadDad · 16/11/2018 16:30

You are all wrong. According to DH there is a law somewhere that states that all pensioners have to drive a Honda Jazz.

Er, what would a life insurance actuary know about the driving habits of octogenarians? Confused

While we're on the subject of stereotyping car choices, I bet you can't guess what car I drive (it's not a company car).
