And there’s some rubbish about an ex-stripper policeman?

Why were shula and Kenton so sneery about Jill’s tea? How mean spirited of them.

ppeatfruit · 12/08/2018 10:56

No idea Gruach but very old by the look of his pix . Thanks for the link Lass.

I suppose they're not looking forward to all Jill's awkward questions. A Dark

Stickerrocks · 12/08/2018 11:21

I imagine that Ben's GCSEs were overlooked because nobody in the scriptwriting team understands the new exams. On 23rd we will suddenly have a public service announcement explaining that a grade 4 is still a pass and a grade 7 is an old A, even though it's third from the top.

Kate really was at loss when it suddenly dawned on her that she could be homeless and could no longer rely on her parents to bail her out of a situation she had stoked.

ppeatfruit · 12/08/2018 11:29

Yes stick Serve Kate right, silly woman. She's still a selfish idiot ,like a 16 year old. Even funnier was her reaction to Jenny and Roy suggesting that she live in one of the yurts.

R4 · 12/08/2018 11:32

Why were Shula and Kenton so sneery about Jill’s tea? How mean spirited of them.

Because they are 60, not 6. Jill doesn't seem able to grasp the fact that her DC are fully grown adults.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 12/08/2018 11:38

Jill always does tea. She's not going to change now. Maybe when she suggested it they could have offered to take her out somewhere nice instead, not accept and then complain.

ppeatfruit · 12/08/2018 11:47

R4 My dm is 90 and still loves to have her 3 "babies" together for tea or whatever!

R4 · 12/08/2018 12:00

they could have offered to take her out somewhere nice instead

Eh? It's their birthday, not hers!
She could have asked them what they wanted: they might have said a BBQ or something different from the inevitable, interminable lemon drizzle and flapjacks.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 12/08/2018 12:06

And they could have suggested something else. Its very kind of Jill to take the trouble. She doesn't know its not what they want. She has done her best to be a good mum to them for 60 years and I find their attitude pretty shitty.

ppeatfruit · 12/08/2018 12:37

Well R4 It wouldn't be their birthday without Jill !!!!! Grin

Saffkat · 12/08/2018 12:41

I thought Shula and Kenton's issue was with the thought of a family get together so soon after Freddy's arrest - as in not the greatest of timing for a family celebration.
Pip and Ruth had a discussion about Ben's exams when his parents had to tear themselves away from Pip and go to Ben's parents evening. Pip was being her usual disparaging self, telling Ruth how the new grades worked and not to believe Ben if he told her one was the highest grade.

ppeatfruit · 12/08/2018 12:56

Oh btw R4 I LOVE lemon drizzle cake Grin Oh I fancy some right now!

ADarkandStormyKnight · 12/08/2018 13:00

I hope Shula brings some leftover cake home for Freddie.

Or is he on gruel and water?

MikeUniformMike · 12/08/2018 13:24

Kirsty's fella is Philip.

cheminotte · 12/08/2018 13:30

I totally agree with you ppeatfruit about Freddy, but that sort of pandering to her drug-dealing son was very insightful.

elpth · 12/08/2018 22:28

Can anyone fill me in with what happened tonight please? Lowfield isn't updating and I've not got time to LA (assuming that is up!).
Thank you kindly lovely Archers fans Archers

BertrandRussell · 12/08/2018 22:50

Nothing much. A comedy llama moment. Lizzie telling Shula how hard her life is, That’s it really.

Bekabeech · 12/08/2018 22:56

Best bit was Lizzie telling Shula she can't cope with any more. And we all know there is Russ and exam results to come.

elpth · 12/08/2018 22:57

Sounds like I didn't miss much. Thank you both Thanks

witchmountain · 12/08/2018 22:59

Ok. Look away now if you consider details of an episode to be spoilers simply because you haven’t listened yet...

Dum-the-dum. Jolene was hungover after the hen party. She remembers dancing the Macarena down Felpersham high street but not much after that. Fallon and Kirsty wake up to one of Linda’s llamas in the garden and have no idea how it got there. Kirsty remembers Linda is away visiting Coriander although mysteriously she can’t remember the name of either of Robert’s daughters’ and has to be prompted by Fallon. Anyway, Linda’s absence means maybe they can smuggle the llama back.

The llama won’t move until Harrison appears and, despite being reluctant to be implicated in the theft of a llama, comes up with the groundbreaking idea of fashioning a halter to put on it. God only knows what they were doing before, tugging at its fleece perhaps. He points out that they will be spotted on their way to Linda’s.

Shula pops round to see Elizabeth and let’s herself in because Freddie gave her the key. Elizabeth is worrying about the lost licence and says vicious things have been written on Twitter already about the wedding having to provide its own alcohol at the last minute. Shula tells her Freddie will probably be home by the end of the week, after the hearing, didn’t Fallon’s dad get off? Elizabeth makes a bitter comment about Harrison “shopping him too” and is worried that it will go to the Crown Court and Freddie will get a prison sentence. Freddie is apparently ok and is helping Alistair move his stuff out today; Shula comments they are getting on because they are both feeling unloved.

Shula makes a comment about Lily helping and Elizabeth says she got really angry with her and “she’s gone”. For some reason she doesn’t mention she was angry because of finding out that Lily knew about the dealing. Lily said she was staying with her friend Meredith but Elizabeth doesn’t know where she lives and Lily won’t answer the phone. Elizabeth says maybe she has gone forever and that she can’t take any more. Dum-te-dum.

R4 · 12/08/2018 22:59

It was the morning-after-the-night-before, the night-before in question being Fallon's hen do. Lots of "I was soooo drunk and out of it that I can't remember what we did". But that's OK and humourous because it was alcohol and not drugs.
A llama, we presume one of Lynda's, has turned up in Fallon's garden. It needs returning. There was lots of talk about whether Lynda was around or had gone away for the w/e. This bit confused me because I thought that she was B&Bing Robin - he's still around isn't he? Apparently Harrison is capable of turning a blind eye - he has done so re the llama.
Kirsty was around, having stopped the night, and was being very un-Kirsty-like in her cattiness about Lynda.

The birthday tea has also happened but we didn't have to live it, just heard reports.

Ongoing angst at LL.

witchmountain · 12/08/2018 23:00

Ah cross post.

Well you lot will never get a job with Lowfield.

witchmountain · 12/08/2018 23:00

Well, R4 might.

Eastpoint · 13/08/2018 03:29

Lynda might have gone to see Coriander on her own, Robert mainly does the B&B work doesn’t he? Lynda works at Grey Gables. Could Robin have left without another appearance?

elpth · 13/08/2018 08:16

Thank you everyone.
Annoying when they behave out of character ie Kirsty.
