selsigfachShock

It was "Death of a Cosmonaut" here.

Quite the best afternoon play I've heard in years. Utterly stupendous. (Did you perhaps only catch the end?)

Vango · 19/04/2017 19:10

THE GENERAL ELECTION???? George? Day off? What's going on? They must have edited that in in the last 24 hours! Amazing!

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 19:11

This is good. Rex playing Josh, and Anisha insulting Fat Bill.

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 19:13

AND politics

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 19:17

And Josh not sobbing in his sister to Rex. For the sake of the family firm perhaps.

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 19:21

dobbing not sobbing. I can't get used to a machine that thinks it's cleverer than I am. It's like having a second husband. Smartarse!

They must have edited that in in the last 24 hours!

They've always had less important scenes which can be cut in case of topical inserts. It can depend a bit on which actors are available on the day.

I think Josh knows that Pip's "news" isn't yet public knowledge and how/when it gets out is likely to have consequences for the farm and possibly knock-on effects for his own business if it's not handled with caution. Not so bothered about Pip.

Auld i know exactly what you mean about the spell checker; mine won't let me drop aitches, or g's intentionally, without reminding me more than once (and it should have it in it's memory fgs) Grin or swear Grin So much for technology !

ppeatfruit · 20/04/2017 12:24

I missed the fat cat episode and have just LA ,it was fab! I loved Peggy's croaky suspicious reply to Justin's blithe dismissal of there being any problems with the divorce.

Also her effrontery at Anisha's criticism of her Bill's fat belly! Brilliant!

AuldHeathen · 20/04/2017 14:59

I'd prefer it if Anisha didn't apologise to Peggy. She was just doing her job. Does anyone think Alastair's actor is acting better? Must be all those conferences he went to.

R4 · 20/04/2017 18:41

She was just doing her job.

That was the problem, she offended Peggy by not sugarcoating the advice with diplomacy. In most jobs it isn't the exciting 20% (stud farm) that brings in the money, it's the day-to-day 80% (eg Peggy and her huge web of connections in the village). Anisha needs more 'bedside manner'.

DoctorTwo · 20/04/2017 20:42

I actually shouted at the radio in a vain attempt to stop Rex.

Wrt my spellchecker on my p0hone, when I tap 'f' the first suggestion is 'fucking'. I have it all trained up. :o

selsigfach · 20/04/2017 20:48

Ugh, more controlling attempts by the men of Ambridge. What are they putting in the water?

ppeatfruit · 21/04/2017 09:50

The trouble is with all the diplomacy in the world there are some PEOPLE who continue to overfeed their pets, themselves, their children and don't even see the problem.

I liked the way Christine seems to have been blamed for 'treating' poor Bill. Though neutered male cats do run to fat ; our ex stray always loses weight when we stop feeding him any dried cereal based food. The vet provides it ironically!

redshoeblueshoe · 21/04/2017 13:34

Doctor Two glad it wasn't just me that was pissed of with Rex - who does he think he is ?
I really hope Anisha and Rex don't get together he is a twat
Rex behaves like he is 14, but isn't he nearer 30 ?

BertrandRussell · 21/04/2017 13:40

Rex was outrageous! Why was Anisha so kind to him? She was trying to do a deal..........

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 21/04/2017 14:15

Jesus christ ... TASWAMA to the max on this one!

BertrandRussell · 21/04/2017 14:25

And now we're going to have Miranda as the evil money grubbing bitch spoiling all the fun. Despite the fact he fact that she has been treated like shit all the time she's been on the programme................

TheAntiBoop · 21/04/2017 14:34

Stupi Wives getting in the way of true love

ppeatfruit · 21/04/2017 15:35

Oh fgs, Anisha was going could be going to make a deal with a criminal, Rex was just putting her in the picture, Alastair would be pleased wouldn't he?

Women are equally as unscrupulous as men at times, is it mysogny to actually say so?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 21/04/2017 15:40

What I found troubling was Justin's crowing over having 'won' Lilian, and his speech about her, and her speechlessness (in every sense). I actually missed the Rex/Anisha business.

The whole Justin and Lilian SL is deeply sexist. "I choose you, oh I have frightened you with my love and you have run from me like a startled faun, oh you have been so badly hurt my darling (and your mum is also keen to go on about how badly you have been hurt), but do not worry, I really honestly have chosen you now! Here, have a massive ring like what ladies like"

I liked Lilian better when she was just a woman who liked a drink and a shag with Justin and didn't care about commitment. But that was obviously unsustainable!

ppeatfruit · 21/04/2017 15:47

Oh come on Seek She had a relationship with Matt for years without any commitment, Paul was HER bit on the side! 'Bin there done that' "Fancy the wealthiest man in the area for a bit of security till we kick the bucket" Why not?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 21/04/2017 16:03

Yeah I know - my point was about the nature of the 'best man won' conversation. And that Justin did a big speech about it, and she had nothing to say. And that everyone else is banging on about how fragile she really is. Not about whether she should marry Justin in the first place.

ppeatfruit · 21/04/2017 16:34

He said that SHE had asked HIM to marry her. She didn't say yes to begin with did she? if anything she was manipulating him.
