'Ello pusscat!
I am eagerly anticipating Pip's downfall.

Pip was LYING about forgetting the cows getting out, of course. Also lying about not allowing herself to be influenced by her charming lover Toby to shut up about it.. Oh dear Pip when you're in a bleedin' great hole stop digging...

ppeatfruit · 19/04/2017 08:59

Interestingly Roof has finally got the measure of her.

I was under the impression that it was difficult to transfer more than about10k electronically.

UK Domestic bank accounts typically block outbound payments of more than 10K per day. However there is nothing to stop her account accepting money or his phasing payments over several days. The money could also have come from a business account which wouldn't have the same restrictions.

Business or domestic, unusual patterns should trigger bank fraud/unusual activity notifications.

R4 · 19/04/2017 09:04

Lillian He gave her a cheque which she took but later gave back to him (tore it up in front of his face). He has now done a bank-to-bank transfer.

pp I'm not sure about the lying. Pip said to us the audience Toby that she had forgotten but I really can't see how she could have.Confused It took her over a week to remember.

C8H10N4O2 · 19/04/2017 09:05

None of the Brookfield archers are particularly likeable.

Pip is plainly going through her own Badger phase, Josh seems to be developing into a nastier version of Kenton, Ben is invisible because the LSWs haven't decided what variety of axe murderer to make him yet.
David's always been a smug self righteous arse. Jill's 'precious darling' routine with him and Pip drives me nuts.

I miss Phil.

BertrandRussell · 19/04/2017 09:15

I don't really understand why people don't like David.

Ceto · 19/04/2017 10:00

I usually do quite like David - usually he's more sensible than Ruth and is more likely to pull Pip up when she's being a selfish idiot. So I'm quite confused as to why they've chosen to depict him as going back into Pip-is-a-living-saint mode when it would usually be the other way round.

Given Ruth's disillusionment with Pip, surely she will tell David about the £5K soon?

ppeatfruit · 19/04/2017 10:29

Well R4 She's either got early onset dementia or is lying to herself (like some people 'forget' their wrongdoings and believe their own version of the truth ).

Also she seems frightened of losing David's belief in her. I'm feeling sorry for her now Hmm She suspects that her mum is not so easy to lie to.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 19/04/2017 12:45

A lot of the Pip growing up years I missed, but during the HP dieing and Ruth going to NZ period Pip and David had a very close relationship - they seemed like the couple and Ruth the interloper.

Travelledtheworld · 19/04/2017 13:17

I like David ! He's the only one of the Brookfield clan I would consider having a cup of tea and a nice home baked sponge cake with.
He just seems like a normal farmer to me.

Everyone in TA is getting on my nerves at the moment. Except Brine! He's always been my favourite.

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 13:40

I think Pip was lying to herself too, trying to persuade herself she forgot. I don't mind David but I used to like him more. His voice was always okay too. TBH I feel a bit disillusioned by most of them. Probably me not them!!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/04/2017 13:44

I like David too. He's straightforwardly honest - that's why he can't quite get his head around Pip not being, and wants to believe that this lapse is down to Toby's bad influence (which is partially true). Whereas Ruth is not as scrupulous ... maybe she can see her own failings surfacing in Pip and blames herself?

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 13:48

Meant to say, FC, I love your little dog.

birdsdestiny · 19/04/2017 13:55

I like David. Ugh I had forgotten all about that period where pip sounded as if she was constantly flirting with David. It was really odd and fairly unsettling.

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 14:26

Who buys a pack of biscuits and puts them in a tin when guests are due? Wouldn't most people just put them on a plate? Must be Christine being efficient in the kitchen again. Smile At least C being helpful gave Peggy time to complain about her fat cat's trip to the vet.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/04/2017 14:39

They probably always have biscuits in the tin for Fat Bill unexpected guests.

I'd have thought Peggy would have more sense than to let her cat get 'portly'.

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 14:46

But she met Jill and told her (and all the listeners)she was off to buy biscuits as justlil were coming round. And she'd run out.

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 14:50

Of course maybe she put them straight into the tin so Fat Bill couldn't get at them. I think we should be told.

selsigfach · 19/04/2017 14:52

Peggy sounded like Knob calling a highly qualified vet a "girl" and, what's worse, a "young girl".

JessieMcJessie · 19/04/2017 14:52

That reminds me did anyone comment a while back on Peggy saying rob emma when she broke an ornament. "oh, don't worry, that's one of Christine's". Shocking old bag!

JessieMcJessie · 19/04/2017 14:53

Aargh a rogue "rob" in there! "Saying TO Emma"

selsigfach · 19/04/2017 14:56

Off-topic, but what on earth is this Soviet programme? It's unlistenable.

Cromwell1536 · 19/04/2017 17:08

Wild bit of procrastination here: I reckon Justin's destined to come a cropper in the lanes. Death on the eve of divorce, prior to the financial settlement: Miranda gets the lot, Lillian left heartbroken, with only her blingy jewellery to show for it all. I can't say I really believe in the great love affair of the century between her and Justin, but oh well. I'm not sure the programme can accommodate two big beasts in agribusiness for very long, so somehow Justin has to be eased out.

Hoping that Tom and Brian between them will turn the screw financially on Brookfield once the word is out. And that Pip will have to get a job elsewhere because no-one will employ her locally after the IBR Scandal. Bit unlikely, I know. Hoping also that poor Ed doesn't get in the soup - I guess he hadn't any choice about putting the cows in the nearest field did he? But might he come in for criticism for not notifying Tom/Tony immediately?

Cromwell1536 · 19/04/2017 17:56

Oh, and has Jill ever been more annoying than her full-on, quavery emote-wobble, "Oh, no, that can't be trooo-ooo!" ?

redshoeblueshoe · 19/04/2017 18:25

Jill's voice is driving me round the twist.
