"Get outta my village" screams Peggy Mitchell

OP posts:
BYOSnowman · 13/05/2016 13:00

Agree. And it feels very formulaic too

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2016 13:01

They was just havin' a chat about farming fgs you lot see sex every bleedin' where! Grin

BYOSnowman · 13/05/2016 13:03

That's what ambridge is about these days sex, violence and gardening mishaps

That's the point though isn't it - soc is so desperate for exciting sl that we all foresee them where there is probably none and then are not surprised when it does happened but equally not bothered if it doesn't

choccyp1g · 13/05/2016 13:41

I assumed Latif was another rich man to rescue Lillian.

BYOSnowman · 13/05/2016 13:52

He's a bit young isn't he?

GypsyFl0ss · 13/05/2016 14:22

And therein lies yet another stereotype from SOC.

BYOSnowman · 13/05/2016 14:30

Do you mean older woman? We did have Lizpot and Roy

AugustaFinkNottle · 13/05/2016 14:37

I reckon Latif is drafted in to save the cricket team. In Ambridge, all forrins are natural cricketers.

LillianGish · 13/05/2016 14:43

I too am finding it incredibly boring - SOC has ruined the best storyline which now seems to be going off at a tangent unrelated to anything that went before. The rest of the programme feels like a series of disconnected fillers - Lynda's allergies, hens and henhouses, Lillian, Justin and the appalling caricature that is Miranda. The fact that Latif has been given a voice suggests he won't be a one episode wonder - I think the reason we keep getting these new characters is so SOC can make them up as he goes along. Once any of them gets too involved in the plot they get the boot because their backstory gets in the way of driving the plot forward. Charlie is a case in point - presumably he had to go a because he was someone who could expose Knob. Now he's gone all those inconvenient details can be swept under the carpet. Existing characters have to appear as little as possible because SOC doesn't know/can't remember anything about them. I'm thinking of giving up because there doesn't seem to be any point in trying to keep up anymore.

Wow. Take a look at this thread, particularly the OP's posts. Parallels with Helen are uncanny.

ArgyMargy · 13/05/2016 16:33

I liked Charlie - I remember him arriving and being a total dick, then gradually becoming a more rounded character if somewhat overdone towards the end. I also like Carole as she's interesting and wise. Miranda is stupid, Arsula is beyond irritating, Richard Locke hasn't really said anything apart from having a pain in the arse daughter. Hmm.

choccyp1g · 13/05/2016 16:44

Lillian, the fact that he has been given a voice suggests he won't be a one episode wonder. In the past this was true but nowadays they are constantly wasting the budget on one-episode characters. If I could do strike out I'd cunningly imply that it is SOCs method of creating work for his mates.

choccyp1g · 13/05/2016 16:47

Actually it is exaggerating to call them "characters". In one episode all they are is wastes of space. Latif has been mentioned before so may turn out to be real, but perhaps his only purpose was to remind us that Adam is not flirting with maize.

Feedback discussing TA now. 23 minutes in for those catching up in i player. Some good criticism so far.

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2016 17:17

Yes I just heard Feedback some very good crits of TA anyone on here????? Grin All the points raised were relevant and concise esp. the point about the lack of a family social worker. I liked the presenter's comments about the editor who replaces SOC.

BYOSnowman · 13/05/2016 17:18

Oooh, what was said?

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2016 17:22

Just saying that the new editor will have to go on Feedback and face the critics . (Though there was no sign of the young fogey answering anybody). Hmm

BYOSnowman · 13/05/2016 17:27

Did soc ever appear on feedback? He's always come across as a cowardy custard who surrounds himself with sycophants

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2016 17:34

I'm not sure, I reckon your definition of him is spot on Grin BYOS . DH got a copy of the Grauniad with THAT recent article in it. Just looking at the pic of him annoyed me, he looks a self satisfied fogeyish twit in his tweeds.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 13/05/2016 17:44

SOC only likes opportunites where he get to report made up cherry picked user feedback.

I.e. "we have had lot of feedbavk since the new sl"
"We fooled the listeners over BF move. As if they would ever move"

"You've had lots of positive comments haven't you Helen Louiza"

"Everyone think I am great"
^ paraphrasing

enochroot · 13/05/2016 18:11

They're cutting it a bit fine if the deadline for the application for editor's post is May 18th and SOC goes at the end of this month.

AugustaFinkNottle · 13/05/2016 18:43

I guess they could maybe have a gap between editors if the scripts are written several weeks ahead and SOC has set the storylines for the next few months? Though, if that's the case, the sooner a sensible editor comes in and starts mending the damage, the better.

Shallishanti · 13/05/2016 19:10

Peggy sounding sensible...

Bimblepops · 13/05/2016 19:15

Never thought I'd say it, but "well said, Peggy"

EBearhug · 13/05/2016 19:16

BOOP for Peggy!

She may not always get it right, but she did tonight. I hope Helen is really listening.
