"Get outta my village" screams Peggy Mitchell

OP posts:

I liked that episode for the fact that Peggy was making Helen see that she can and should fight back. I could have done without the bloody elf houses, though.

BeauGlacons · 13/05/2016 19:29

I had grit in my eye on the way home.

R4 · 13/05/2016 19:30

It's a shame that the budget didn't stretch to the SFX of the squeals of delight of an excited Keira. It was a sad non-response after weeks of build-up.
He really doesn't know how to conclude a story.

BYOSnowman · 13/05/2016 19:38

I'm sure they could have got the Henry actor to do a few squeals. As long as he didn't squeal 'awwwight ' we wouldn't have known it was him

AugustaFinkNottle · 13/05/2016 19:55

I also liked Peggy refusing to take no for an answer in relation to visiting Helen in the mother and baby unit - had it been Pat in bit mode, she'd have gone all needy and let Helen pressurise her into agreeing not to go. Let's hope Peggy puts all this dynamism into organising the family into doing something sensible about gathering evidence for the defence.

R4 · 13/05/2016 19:56

Did you get the compare and contrast between erstwhile playmates Henwee and Keira.

AugustaFinkNottle · 13/05/2016 19:56

That should have been Pat in bot mode, not bit mode.

GypsyFl0ss · 13/05/2016 19:56

Loved Peggy's fight 'em on the beaches speech. Now let's hope some of it has sunk in and Helen starts to rally.

DadDadDad · 13/05/2016 19:57

Did anyone hear The News Quiz this evening? Both MN and TA got a mention (and a few jokes at their expense, of course).

Northernlurker · 13/05/2016 20:09

I thought Peggy was very well written tonight. She reminded Helen who she really is. Anna was doing that too, preparing her for the assessment. She is a good mother and she has support. That's what Helen needs to remember.

elephantoverthehill · 13/05/2016 20:15

Yes the News Quiz made me chuckle. I am surprised no one suggested the OP should cancel the cheque. As for 'The Arches........'

Limelight · 13/05/2016 22:46

Never thought I'd say this but I bloody love Peggoi

Helenluvsrob · 14/05/2016 07:51

Peggoi. You played a blinder !! I so want that scene to be the turning point

ArgyMargy · 14/05/2016 08:54

Well yes I agree, Piggoi's contribution last night was a ray of light in the dense fog of wailing & stupidity surrounding most of the female cast currently.

Toomuchtea · 14/05/2016 10:03

Another BOOP for Peggy. Talked perfect sense and didn't allow herself to be blinded by emotion. Let's hope she gets Jazzer back with the pigs and the shop opened too.

ppeatfruit · 14/05/2016 10:22

Yes and she was positive !! BOOP for the comment about Hell looking better than Peggy would've expected "That's the way to do it" Grin

ppeatfruit · 14/05/2016 10:25

But on the other hand as others have said why tf couldn't they have found a recording of a little child giggling with delight (at the discovery of the fairy grotto) How hard would it have been?????

JessieMcJessie · 14/05/2016 11:03

I rather like the fact that June Spencer is the same age as Peggy is supposed to be, otherwise I would have a hard time believing that someone of such an advanced age could be so mobile and on the ball. Sadly in my family dementia and invalidity seem to set in much earlier and the storyline would be all about shielding the elderly relative from the reality through fears for her health, or her not being able to grasp what was happening.

I thought it very interesting that Peggy does not appear to be sticking to the view that Rob could not possibly have done anything to provoke Helen and now seems fairly open- minded about what led up to the stabbing. I was dying for her to press H more when H started to go on about the children being unsafe with Rob though, but she was probably right not to derail the pep talk by going down that route.

Brava June.

JessieMcJessie · 14/05/2016 11:05

Have I missed an episode where they revealed the origin of the fairy grotto? Am I right in thinking that some mysterious person started it and now the villagers are supplementing it with their own doors, rooms, lights and things without knowing who kicked it all off?

BYOSnowman · 14/05/2016 12:08

No - ed started it all for Keira

BYOSnowman · 14/05/2016 12:08

So if we think George took the money - he framed his great uncle Alf quite knowingly.

Does this make him a true bad egg

JessieMcJessie · 14/05/2016 12:51

When did we hear that BYOS? I do have a habit of falling asleep when listening to podcasts.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/05/2016 13:00

I'm not sure it's been stated at any length, Jessie - just a few brief references here and there. I expect the SWs wrote longer scenes making it all clear and SOC said 'No, I don't think we've heard Pat wailing enough this week - add three minutes of shrieking and handwringing and make room by cutting out 99% of the fairy grotto stuff'. Angry

cheminotte · 14/05/2016 17:37

Thanks for the new thread Pseudo . place marking before I listen to the film tomorrow.

Chillywhippet · 14/05/2016 22:57

Have been mostly lurking but loving the updates and comments.

I liked the Peggy scene but agree the story is going soo slowly.

Can't help wishing sl had gone:

Helen decides to leave
Tells Rob
He becomes violent
Kirsty turns up
Calls police
Rob arrested

Much more likely outcome to the whole, well done EE build up. Sigh
