"Get outta my village" screams Peggy Mitchell

OP posts:
Thymeout · 23/05/2016 23:14

This isn't my specialist subject, but I thought it sounded as if H had a G.A. Peggy was talking to her as she came round in the recovery ward.
So no green scrubs for gran.

MrsArthurShappey · 23/05/2016 23:55

OMG I've been re-watching True Blood from the beginning (I'd forgotten how great the first series was!) and SOC is Eddie the sad gay vampire! LOOK!

EBearhug · 24/05/2016 00:00

On the positive side, Kirsty and Fallon will sort out Jazzer and Tom and John's pigs will be saved for Johnny.

Isn't Kirsty working full time at GG? How does she have time for all these extra shifts in the shop and so on?

MrsArthurShappey · 24/05/2016 00:08

I know it's been said before but WHERE IS NEIL AND WHY IS NO-ONE ASKING HIM ABOUT THE PIGS?!?!?!

I do mean Neil don't I? Not Eddie?

EBearhug · 24/05/2016 00:43

You do mean Neil, and last weekTom said he'd spoken to him and they'do had some discussion about how volatile pig prices used to be, and how canny farmers would go in and out of pig production according to which way prices were going. By Tom's account, he was perfectly understanding and not at all bothered.

Gruach · 24/05/2016 03:53

Here's some more depressing reading about giving birth in prison. From the Radio Times.

BeauGlacons · 24/05/2016 06:18

The problem is that we know Helen's not a risk. Are there different rules for prisoners who haven't yet been found guilty.

LillianGish · 24/05/2016 06:32

I predicted downthread that Kirsty would be back in the shop. The point about Knob's involvement with their break up was that crucially he arranged for Tom to escape to Canada and continued to be in regular contact, through on-air phone calls, when Everyone at Bridge Farm was frantic worrying where he was. It is unbelievable that Tom hasn't mentioned this to anyone which is what makes me think SOC has forgotten about it. If Tom would only tell Kirsty, she could mention it to Ian who would begin to see a pattern emerging. SOC doesn't need to turn Knob into a pantomime villain now (which is what I hear every time he and Arsula are in a scene) there is plenty of evidence already there - which came out in a much subtler way at the time. It is almost as if there is an entirely different team of scriptwriters now.

redshoeblueshoe · 24/05/2016 07:48

How do we know Hellin is not a risk ? With all the accurate predictions on this thread not a single person suggested Helen, in the kitchen, with a knife and caused by custard

ColdTeaAgain · 24/05/2016 07:49

Yes Thyme I thought it had sounded like Helen was coming round from a GA too.

Really annoying me how people still aren't talking about Knob and the pennies dropping that he wasn't such a gentleman after all. We need some glimmers of hope at least that people are seeing the light. It's starting to feel like it's just weeks and weeks of the same probable exaggeration Pat whining and Helen not saying anything useful.

BeauGlacons · 24/05/2016 10:00

They probably are having those conversations but there's only so much that can unfold in 12 minutes. We are getting the main stuff but this will play out for months, if not for more than a year because that's what would happen.

Charlie might not have heard yet, people may be assuming he has through a mutual contact but he may have moved on from what he was doing. There's a 1000 piece jigsaw in this bix and at the moment all the authorities have are the corner pieces and a random bit in the middle.

BYOSnowman · 24/05/2016 10:42

I wouldn't say we are listening to the interesting or main bits. It's pat wailing and Helen avoiding answering questions. It is dull and unimaginative story writing.

EasyToEatTiger · 24/05/2016 12:14

I respect everyone brave enough to keep listening. I have lost interest. Unfortunately the Hel/Rob story took over and everything else fell by the wayside for me at least. Now we have been abandoned, like Helen, waiting for some kind of relief. Arsula is without redeeming features, Pat and Tone are stuck in a cycle of uselessness. No-one has shed any light and although other things, surely happen in Ambridge, it is in no way satisfying to be dumped like this. This thread is nearly 2 weeks old. DDD how long has the longest thread lasted?

redshoeblueshoe · 24/05/2016 13:02

Even Psuedo's not posting Sad

BitOutOfPractice · 24/05/2016 13:34

I'm hardly posting (or reading) because it's all "Oh this is shit" and "I'm not listening" posts so it seems a bit pointless

Thymeout · 24/05/2016 13:43

I'm only listening because I want to see how the sw's get out of the very large hole they have dug for themselves. Tho' it's taking so long, I'm beginning not to care. If it's a jigsaw puzzle, there's too much sky.

I'm not really a devoted listener, but Radio 4 has always been on in the background of my life. I remember the very first edition of the Archers, but, as a keen Dick Barton fan, I was not impressed.

Gruach · 24/05/2016 13:43

So, BOOP, where should we bestow our praise?

redshoeblueshoe · 24/05/2016 13:45

BOOP that's a very un-BooP point Grin

DadDadDad · 24/05/2016 13:57

This thread is nearly 2 weeks old. DDD how long has the longest thread lasted?

Two weeks for a thread was normal before 2016. The very first thread back in 2013 lasted months, but that probably doesn't count as that was before most had discovered this little community

theredjellybean · 24/05/2016 14:07

just listening to last nights episode...errr....has no one noticed helen's absolute lack of interest in this baby ?
surely she must have a social worker or the safe guarding midwife would be involved...???? oh ffs...

AugustaFinkNottle · 24/05/2016 14:10

They probably are having those conversations but there's only so much that can unfold in 12 minutes

But logically (in terms of normal writing conventions) they should give us at least some inkling that those conversations are going on. I'm sure we'd all happily sacrifice five minutes of Pat wailing to hear, say, Shula, Jim and Ian comparing notes.

But I think that actually we're supposed to assume that they aren't having those conversations. Witness the way it took Kirsty six weeks to tell anyone about the second phone and the advice to call Women's Aid. If someone who was there immediately after the event and who is supposed to be Helen's friend is that slow in the uptake, there seems little chance anyone else will come up with something useful. I fear this really is going to be left to the miraculous reappearance of Jess, plus maybe Anna winding Knob up so that he totally exposes himself in court.

theredjellybean · 24/05/2016 14:13

oh jumped the gun...tone and peggy seems to have noticed...but as usual doing nothing...

PseudoBadger · 24/05/2016 14:25

I'm not posting as I haven't even heard Sunday and Monday's yet! Minus interest....

OP posts:
Gherkinsmummy · 24/05/2016 14:55

Have been too bored listening to the wailing and gnashing of teeth to post, but is Helen having difficulty getting the Gideon baby to latch?

AugustaFinkNottle · 24/05/2016 15:04

Yes, I think that's what she said, Gherkins. When she talked about putting him onto formula, I wanted Peggy to point out that she would be playing straight into Knob's hands.
