"Get outta my village" screams Peggy Mitchell

Or distracting us and the deaded one will be JD . Lils just keep going on and on about 40 years of marriage.

AugustaFinkNottle · 18/05/2016 22:39

Rule of soaps - when someone says they have a bad feeling about something it's always a precursor to them being justified. Oh dear.

Mind you, when JD kept moaning about Peggy travelling to support Helen, I would have liked to have heard some explanation of why she or Lill didn't volunteer.

LillianGish · 19/05/2016 06:08

They were really corpse-baiting us with Peggy's journey, weren't they? It was the stopping at a service station - which will forever be a euphemism in TA Grin Could I be the one to sound the KLAXON for that episode?

Eastpoint · 19/05/2016 06:40

I've just read that audience listening figures are down 140,000 over the three months to April. So much for SOC's sensationalist story lines. Press coverage but no one at the Archers.

glowfrog · 19/05/2016 07:49

Excellent news. Maybe SOC will be made to wake up from his media dreams.

Will take thi opportunity to say thank you to everyone here still listening and keeping us updated - I have also given up for the moment.

EBearhug · 19/05/2016 08:18

But aren't there meant to have been about 9 billion new listeners? So if overall figures are down, he's pissed off an awful lot of regular listeners, the sort who have listened for decades, and are the core audience. Though probably he doesn't care while he's got people like Gove onside and commenting publicly.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 19/05/2016 08:28

I have missed parts of 2 episodes this week and all of yesterdays. Normally I'd LA to fill in the gaps but ....meh.

ppeatfruit · 19/05/2016 09:01

Mina Lil's pickled and preserved with nicotine Grin she'll go on forever. It's just the sort of conversations sisters have,, my dsis gave me the instructions for her funeral last time we met and she's not ill at the moment Grin

R4 · 19/05/2016 09:05

I'm making a special effort to listen in real time because I don't want to contribute to SOC's Listen Again ratings.
I wonder how many of the LA hits were people replaying the stabbing scene over and over again, trying to work out what the heck was going on.Hmm If only we had know that he was being purposefully obscure and would carry on this way for the next six months ...

Dumdedumdedum · 19/05/2016 10:20

Eastpoint, I came on here today especially to post this article: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/18/archers-audience-drops-despite-domestic-abuse-drama/
I've even stopped lurking anywhere to follow the plot, I'm so pissed off with the whole thing, and the article above seemed to somehow justify my anti Socpuppet stance!

Boomingmarvellous · 19/05/2016 10:44

Who the hell is looking for evidence of hellins innocence?

The prosecution have the police there to gather evidence of guilt but how does the defence gathering go?

Does Anna employ someone to speak to those around Hellin? (Never heard of that).
Do the family employ councillors or private detectives to ask?
For goodness sake somebody start gathering a defence!

Thymeout · 19/05/2016 11:23

I think the 140,000 listeners were lost before the stabbing? We have to wait for the next audit to know how many started listening after it? Many of whom have now faded away, I'd imagine.

AskingForAPal · 19/05/2016 11:27

No idea Booming.

Did anyone else laugh that Barbara Windsor's final Eastenders episode - supposedly SOC's handover episode - also saw her talking to a ghost? Albeit not about cows this time.

dairyfarmerswife · 19/05/2016 11:52

No one else wondering about the Bridge Farm organic cattle being grazed on Pip's non-organic pasture then?

I did wonder, but couldn't get up about it . The farming storylines have been out of kilter for a while. Brookfield bought all those new cows and started calving well after we started calving here (think it was mid March), yet Ruth was AI ing a heifer about two weeks ago meaning it would calve in early February. You can't move a calving block that easily! So I just can't be bothered to notice the farming details much any more.

AugustaFinkNottle · 19/05/2016 12:49

Booming, it's supposed to be the solicitors doing the work of gathering evidence, interviewing defence witnesses etc. However, as Dominic has dropped into a black hole it doesn't appear that anything has happened.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 19/05/2016 12:56

If this was The Good Wife you'd get the investigator on it. I'd like to see them getting some greasy PI from Borsetshire Gumshoes on the case.

But then I'm still waiting for an auditor to have a look at Berrow's accounts and call in the forensic accountant to find some Serious Dirt Hmm

I'm surprised nobody external can see what a loser and a parasite Rob is. Pre-stabbing he didn't own his own home, couldn't hold down a job and had taken to working in the shop owned by his wife's family. He's hardly "a man of his calibre" as described by Justin. He's a loser.

LillianGish · 19/05/2016 13:08

Yes, yes and yes. Berrow Farm has been conveniently closed down and Charlie moved to the back of beyond in the hope that we'll forget all about that and it will never have to be referred to again.

theDudesmummy · 19/05/2016 14:09

Yes, what has happened to the solicitor? IRL he would be the key person in Helen's life atm, and would be working hard on building the defence case. Where he hell is he? Pat and Tony should be hunting down the best solicitor they can and employing him/her to the max, with every penny they have, not handwringing and wailing.

AugustaFinkNottle · 19/05/2016 14:12

I suspect the solicitor has fallen victim to the budget and the fact that they don't want to pay both the Dominic and Anna actors; and SOC thinks it's more interesting to use Anna because of the Tregorran factor. Also, despite the fact that he claims to be getting legal advice, he blatantly isn't - otherwise he wouldn't portray a QC spending all this time effectively acting as Helen's social worker/counsellor.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 19/05/2016 14:14

"I say, Jenny, shall we recap on our lives so far, evaluate how worthwhile they have been respectively, and contemplate our successes and any significant things that Sean O'Connor has dragged up from the archives, such as what we were like when we were younger?"

"Oh goodness, yes, let's. And then we could round off by contemplating the inevitability of death! What could possibly go wrong?"

"heheheheheh nothing at all darling! I think it's no overstatement to say that you're definitely not going to die, and I can see nothing but good things ahead for you! mehehehehehe!"

GypsyFl0ss · 19/05/2016 14:29

Grin Seek

RockNRollNerd · 19/05/2016 15:56

Has anyone ever actually been convicted where a key part of the evidence was the 'threat to kill' in the way Helen and everyone else, ever, in the history of real life at some point has said it. I know it's a beloved trope in TV drama and now TA but does it actually ever form a substantial part of prosecution evidence. To my mind if you're planning to actually kill someone you either a) keep it very quiet or b) any conversations you have around it will be with shady characters who can help you procure vast quantities whatever it is you use to dissolve bodies/know someone who can help sort you out/do the deed for you.

SaraTheFairy · 19/05/2016 16:07

In no way over-infested. But given that Helen was talking about "going north", then she's either in Styal (Cheshire), New Hall (Wakefield) or Askham Grange (York). Anyone able to help out as her birthing partner? Grin

Minimammoth · 19/05/2016 16:43

I read that script writers are to visit a women's prison with mother and baby unit to research Helens story. Look out for 'Orange is the new Black' storylines.
Please get a move on, SWs, it's getting boring and unreal.

SaraTheFairy · 19/05/2016 17:17

I hope for Lilian's sake she's in Askham Grange. Very handy for the racecourse and the designer outlet.
