signing in.
I am getting fed up with the way things are going. Up until last week I was really interested in the story, even though it was hard to listen to, now I feel somewhat disinvested.

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/04/2016 11:33

Thank you Pseudo

Mrscog Hellin has been charged with attempted murder and will be in a women's prison until her next court appearance on May 5th. Knob has taken a turn for the worse as the Ambridge Sepsis Fairy hovers over his hospital bed.

I am still rivetted by this s/l and want to know how it will play out. I also want to hear all the other Ambridgeites' take on the events at Bloody Hell Cottage.

MrsKwazii · 10/04/2016 11:34

Love The Archers in four minutes at the end of the last thread. I'm having to always listen again later in the evenings as I don't like my children hearing the current storyline. I used to babysit for someone who wouldn't have TV soaps on if her children were up - used to think she was a bit snooty, but totally understand now!

enochroot · 10/04/2016 11:40

Ursula cleaning up the crime scene reminded me of Lady Macbeth.

GypsyFl0ss · 10/04/2016 11:40

I've just had a displeasure of hearing Bruce and Ursula at the hospital for the third time. Her voice , arghhhhhhhhh.

JessieMcJessie · 10/04/2016 11:40

Gruach can you please check your archive books and tell me if George Barford was once arrested for attempted murder or manslaughter or something? I had a vague inkling about this and thought Christine might have relevant experience to share with Peggy- asked in the last thread and got tumbleweed in response. I might be getting mixed up with David accidentally killing Jethro Larkin with a tree branch, or just imagining it completely- all just gleaned from listeners mentioning this history on various message boards I have frequented over the years, as I only started listening in the early eighties.

NotdeadyetBOING · 10/04/2016 11:40

I am wondering if Lilian and Justin have taken things to the next level….

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 10/04/2016 11:42

Yy I want to know more about what Bert and Rex chat about at breakfast (Toby still in bed obviously). Also has nobody else noticed that Bert is reporting chats with Freda and she's DEAD with nobody batting an eye at this recent development.

The Fairbrethren must go down with some sort of bird flu variant due to their close living with the chickens. HNN8 or something and then the village is almost wiped out with a slew of minor and silent cast members succumbing to the awful virus. Poor Tilly Button!

The fire starter, twisted fire starter who could it be? Cue much chatter in the village shop once they've all been released from quarantine or perhaps in hazmat suits? Lynda: "oh Susan, I'm not really sure about the quality of this paper suit and white has never really been my colour. Dare I say it I'm actually feeling a pang of nostalgia for my tabard".

That'll do for a starter.

JessieMcJessie · 10/04/2016 11:45

Also, I confess I fit right into the "highly educated middle class female" stereotype, but I picked up the habit from my Mum, who had not an exam to her name and was from an extremely working class background. I was just listening to that PM feature where Eddie Mair was getting Richard Bacon and some writer called Lesley McDowell to listen and she said "I grew up in a working class family in Glasgow and TA was not on my radar and I never knew anyone who listened to it". My background is almost identical and I just presumed everyone's Mum did! She's dead now so I can't ask how she came across it Sad.

MrsKwazii · 10/04/2016 11:56

Just seen this as someone's Twitter picture Grin

Vango · 10/04/2016 11:57

Justin and Lillian had better not take things to the next level! He's married. It's not okay. Even if the SWs are trying to restore some of the more comical elements. I don't like the way that one's going with Jenny egging her on.

Minimammoth · 10/04/2016 12:01

I'm thinking, Rob dead, Helen banged up. Two annoying characters go in one fell swoop. Kirsty and Tom get back together ( I know I know), they bring up Henry. Broosh and Urshoola, die of horrible dental complications.

NotdeadyetBOING · 10/04/2016 12:02

You're quite right, Vango. But he does seem to be terribly dismissive about his wife which makes me suspicious that the story might be headed that way.

When will Jess hear the news and reappear, I wonder?

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/04/2016 12:03

Jessie it was Tom Forest, Christine's uncle (he was a gamekeeper who George Barford worked with) who was charged with manslaughter after shooting poacher Bob Larkin.

See here

NotdeadyetBOING · 10/04/2016 12:03

Just caught end of the film. God - Ursula's voice is insufferable.

derxa · 10/04/2016 12:05

I've just had a displeasure of hearing Bruce and Ursula at the hospital for the third time. Her voice , arghhhhhhhhh. Grin These Archer MC women all sound the same but the common people all have different over the top accents.

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/04/2016 12:07

Vango Lillian has form when it comes to married men. Matt was married to the lovely Yvette when he and Pusscat got together.

FadedRed · 10/04/2016 12:10

Pseudo- We listen so you don't have to.
Presented with Star -Public service award of the week.
I stopped listening to TA some weeks ago, just catching the odd episode, due to the Hell/Knob storyline. Your multiple threads have kept me informed and made me realise why I haven't started listening again. Had to endure an old Desert Island Discs this morning.
Thank you.

JessieMcJessie · 10/04/2016 12:12

Ah, brilliant Bore, thanks. So Christine was around at that time and you'd think might mention the parallels then. Or indeed Peggy would also remember it herself.

birdsdestiny · 10/04/2016 12:16

Yes, Moving I agree about Bert, surely someone would mention this fact. I know it's done to indicate he is missing Freda but

he had a whole conversation with Ruth about this the other day and she didn't even

skip a beat in the conversation.

Vango · 10/04/2016 12:18

Bore I know Lillian has form for it. I remember the days of hiding assets during the divorce. My heart just isn't in it. And I'll never be convinced of Jenny's happy acceptance after all she went through with Brian.

Mrscog · 10/04/2016 12:19

Thank you bore. Never thought I'd say this but 'GO SEPSIS', wouldn't be sad to see the end of Knob as it would put Helen in a better legal position, even though I really wanted to see him brought to justice for rape/coercive control etc.

I'm disinvested at the moment too - partly because I wanted a dramatic escape storyline where we then saw it being played out in a more normal way, and plus, I can't bear to think of more suffering to Henry :(

I will get back into it though, I'm sure.

Gruach · 10/04/2016 12:20

Poor George - I'd forgotten that quite early in his Ambridge life - in 1974 when he'd come to be under-keeper to Tom Forrest - he attempted suicide. Then, while he was still married to his estranged wife, his live in partner left him and his son went to prison for drunk driving. Much later on - 2003 - he and Chris were held at gunpoint by Clive Horrobins who then torched their house.

So everything except being arrested for murder Jessie! He was definitely on the side of the angels.

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/04/2016 12:20

Well, Froof wouldn't see anything wrong with it, would she? Accustomed as she is to ex-Phil's visitations with Deevid.

SealSong · 10/04/2016 12:23

I can barely remember any of the other plot lines.
