Rob decided not to have a shower after he discovered the suitcase. I think he felt he needed to keep more of an eye on Helen. He was already suspicious after Helen's unconvincing pie explanation.

Putthetulipsthere · 12/04/2016 19:08

Well done Tom!

EsmesBees · 12/04/2016 19:16

They are So getting back together...

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 12/04/2016 19:17

Thank goodness for Kirsty but it was great to hear Tom reacting and acting

Gruach · 12/04/2016 19:18

Just imagine how much better that might have been with, say, Matt Smith as Tom ...

There's professional training and - professional training ...

Gruach · 12/04/2016 19:20

Or ... or even Ben Whishart. (Except then I'd never be able to concentrate on the dialogue.)

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 12/04/2016 19:21

Yes Esme I do believe you are correct.

She will become an Archer even though she deserves so much more than Tom

Gruach · 12/04/2016 19:22

SOC pretty much told us that after the wedding that wasn't. What other possible reason could there be for bringing her back?

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 12/04/2016 19:24

Do you mean THE Matt Smith

NotdeadyetBOING · 12/04/2016 19:31

K.I.S.S.I.N.G.

Girl Felicity Jones is ubiquitous - most high profile recently was as Mrs Stephen Hawking in Theory of Everything

She was a stunningly gorgeous Emma during the Will/Ed wedding/paternity battles. The photos were hilarious.

MrsArthurShappey · 12/04/2016 19:51

God help me but I like Tom. And I hope he and Kirsty get back together. I know, I know.

PseudoBadger · 12/04/2016 20:02

Changing the actor has enabled them to write Tom as a more sympathetic character without it being clashingly false. He is more likeable now.

Ugh... I'm back to work after mat leave... Missed the last 2 pages of the last thread and the first 19(!!!) of this!

Damn you, work!

R4 · 12/04/2016 20:09

Ah, that was better. Villagers acting according to type and inter-acting with each other. I was a bit worried when Jazzer was given his marching orders (it was unbelievable - like David leaving Brookfield) but it was OK because we had major back-tracking within the same episode.
I liked Tom getting his aggression out - so much better than Pat's histrionics.

MrsArthurShappey · 12/04/2016 20:14

Oh thank you pseudo thought I'd get a flaming. I used to despair of him sometimes but always liked him. He does seem more....solid now. And actually, going away to 'find himself' is not unrealistic and returning when he was needed, a more grown up Tom, having shaken off John's shadow is good character progression too. It was all done a little clumsily but long term has been good I reckons. I just really wish solid grown up Tom had been utilised better with specific regard to knob. Calling him out on aiding his flight to Canada would have been a good start.

MrsArthurShappey · 12/04/2016 20:15

(Ooh I might listen, and to last night's)

Thymeout · 12/04/2016 20:17

Rob apologised for being late when he got in. Something about the deliveries taking longer than expected.

And I think Helen took Henry into the sitting room and put a DVD on while waiting for Kirsty. Unlikely he'd have a TV in his bedroom.

She didn't ring the ambulance sooner because she thought he was dead.

Useful to have Jazzer's take on it. It reminds us that Helen is not universally popular in the village. The IVF/Single Parent and being precious about health foods marks her out as a bit of an oddball. But I could have done without more violence to ramp up the drama. Tom has too weedy a voice for angry outbursts.

IzzyGee · 12/04/2016 21:17

Have I missed discussion of the way Bruce speaks to Ursula? Presume the SW are trying to draw a picture of the example of father/husband that Knob saw as a child.

GypsyFl0ss · 12/04/2016 21:29

MrsArthurShappey I'm a big Tom and Kirsty fan. I thought she was excellent with him and want them to be The Archers of the future. I do agree though Thymeout that his voice was a bit wimpy in the shouting...don't they teach projection at drama school ? Grin

Gruach · 12/04/2016 21:30

That would have been on the thread before this Izzy (if not the one before that). And on earlier threads there was a good deal of speculation, before Bruce actually appeared, about what he might be like.

IzzyGee · 12/04/2016 21:39

Thanks Gruach.

2rebecca · 12/04/2016 21:51

Where did the new Pip come from? I didn't know who she was until she called David dad.
