Rob - dead? No, no, he's, er, resting. He's just pining for the Canadian plains. As Helen is taken into custardy, discuss the Archers here.

No, no Tony spoke up. Said Helen couldn't be arrested at 33 weeks pg. Tony will step up. Tony is an Archer. Jill will influence Peggy. Pat will be brought into line. Shula will tell the truth. Adam will get Charlie to tell the truth. Pip will work on the Fairbrethren to find evidence about the Hen House. Tom will express concerns. Much of the rest of Ambridge will close ranks because they rely on the Archers. That's all apart from the fact that Rob I evil, pond life with a history about to be exposed.

In some ways it reflects how evil domestic abuse is and how even women with strong and powerful networks can get sucked in.

Starting to think the whole thing is mire supportive of victims than meets the eye. Perhaps we've been had as well due to our liberal, middle class privileged take on things. Perhaps this is a bit if an eye opener after all.

Wavers in fence. hmmmmmm Hmm

SuffolkNWhat · 04/04/2016 21:36

D3 if you stop doing the stats we'll come after you with shop-bought custard. Don't say I didn't warn you...

BYOSnowman · 04/04/2016 21:37

I'm surprised there wasn't a scream as the other major sl (jilting and roof diving) had prolonged screams. I actually think a good scream from Henry would have been more powerful than the bizarre lines they gave him

I think the writing has been quite poor for a lot of this sl but the acting from knob and Helen has been excellent

cheminotte · 04/04/2016 21:37

Please don't retire D3!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 04/04/2016 21:38

I wouldn't say stats are my thing in general, but I quite like the tab that's kept on these threads.

I don't see that 3D is being "indulged" by anyone - it's not indulging someone if others are genuinely interested.

glowfrog · 04/04/2016 21:38

Wow, steady on, Words.

The stats don't come up very often so it's not like they dominate the conversation. D3 is not being indulged - what a patronising remark.

I am quite a new poster. When I first joined, I was warmly welcomed and not ignored - but then the threads were moving much MUCH more slowly.

You are sounding rather entitled. Nobody owes you - or me - any attention. A few people on here seem to know each other well - so what? I wouldn't walk into a pub and expect the regulars to take me to their bosoms instantly.

DadDadDad · 04/04/2016 21:39

New posters ignored? What are you talking about, words? This is one of those threads where new posts are appearing while some of us are typing a response to an earlier one. Lots of people have been making similar points, without their particular contribution being picked up. It's bound to feel like some of your posts are being ignored.

I think your comments referring to my gender and the gender of barristers suggest you are being unnecessarily sensitive. (Hopefully, the bevy of ladies I have gathered round me to ruffle my hair and make me feel special will defend me on that! Grin)

BYOSnowman · 04/04/2016 21:39

Hopefully pat will remember who she is.

If I were pat or Toby I would take Henry home and then get one of us or ton off to the police station

Wordsaremything · 04/04/2016 21:41

Most numbers are pointless, but some are more pointless than others. (Cruel)

Sagethyme · 04/04/2016 21:41

jessie thank you for that update, i've been listening TA for many years but now i have wee nippers myself i miss a lot more, DH always switches the radio off when i'm washing up so i often miss the best bits of each episode, tonight i said ''LEAVE IT'' (like i would to the dog a bout to eat someithing unpleasant) as he went near the radio... He looked a bit shocked .and wondered off mumbling an apology!
It was a good episode tonight!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 04/04/2016 21:41

Beaufort, you're right that Tony spoke up re H being pregnant.

I hope you're right wrt to the rest, too. I must admit my experience of villages is that they'll close ranks against "newcomers" a bit when push comes to shove, so it will be interesting to see if that plays out...

Vango · 04/04/2016 21:42

Hang on a minute glowfrog.....I haven't been 'warmly welcomed' yet and I only started posting in the last couple of days! I may go back to lurking unless that red carpet gets rolled out sharpish!

glowfrog · 04/04/2016 21:42

Yeah, man. Leave our token bloke* alone.

*there are probably other men here but I don't know who they are Grin

glowfrog · 04/04/2016 21:44

Vango a couple of people said "welcome to the thread" - that was enough for me, but then I'm a cheap date.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 04/04/2016 21:44

What do we think about the slashed wrist? That Rob did that bit on his own?

Would the police really put a hysterical pregnant woman into hand cuffs? And who is the actress playing Dectective Hardbitch? Her voice was very familiar.

Sorry, lots of questions Blush

I'm am pleased Kirsty reacted like a normal person though. If this was Eastenders-style she'd have boinked Rob over the head with a poker, slapped Helen out of her hysterics and the two of them would have driven the body to the nearest pig pen for disposal.

shinynewusername · 04/04/2016 21:44

Brine's epilepsy on the other hand

Brine's recovery was completely plausible medically. His fits started after a head injury IIRC. It is very common to fit immediately after a HI and some people continue to have fits afterwards, but most eventually make a complete recovery. So in fact it was more likely than not that Brine would recover. The only surprise is that the cost of JD's new kitchen did not induce a relapse Wink

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 04/04/2016 21:45

I think you're being a bit precious, words. The threads are moving very quickly, it's impossible to reply to everything.

spiker · 04/04/2016 21:45
glowfrog · 04/04/2016 21:46

MovingOn the slashed wrist was when Helen first lunged to protect Henry. There was a pause where Rob called out to Helen, possibly tried to get the knife off of her and then she stabbed him again.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 04/04/2016 21:47

Oh and when Rob recovers he'll offer to take her back. I just hope she won't go!

Swirlingasong · 04/04/2016 21:47

I don't understand the timings - Pat and Tony were off to bed and implied is was terribly late for anyone to call. But Helen called Kirsty straight away who then called the police soon after that. Helen had put Henry to bed (7pm?), then served dinner, stabbed Rob, phoned Kirsty and wiped up custard so by my reckoning it must have been 9pm at the latest when the police called. Is this unthinkably late? However, if it was late, then wouldn't 91 year old Peggy would have been tucked up? Would she really have got dressed and walked through the village rather than calling Tony or Home Farm to say there were flashing lights around Helen's house? Or wouldn't Christine have gone too? Unless Peggy regularly pops out to follow policemen of an evening...

Wordsaremything · 04/04/2016 21:47

I'm deeply wounded ( though not fatally) by unaccountable lack of interest anyone has shown to my incisive legal observations up thread, and my original observation that Ursula was a bad 'un.

Now what do we think about the pastured eggs venture?

Sagethyme · 04/04/2016 21:47

I thought when Kirsty went into the kitchen, Rob might have done a runner, get a bit of a thriller story line going on!
(I missed last nights episode though!)

DadDadDad · 04/04/2016 21:47

Vango - I hope you are joking. I'm sure earlier today someone said how insightful your posts are and encouraged you not to re-lurk. I'd agree with them.

Actually, if you go back a few months, there was a thread in this series where I urged lurkers to come out and celebrated each who did. I'm sorry I didn't do the same for you - things have been moving too fast.
