Wishful thinking. I think she's in it for the long haul Sad

Ach, don't you know you don't need PPE to be chancellor these days!! Did JD just come round for bragging purposes or was he invited already?

As mother of 4 'leaky taps' - 2 of them at the same time I seem to recall - I can't see it as necessarily a sign of stress. All you need is a good mattress cover or 4, and a reliable washing machine. But I accept many mothers do fret about these things. I believe any change of routine can cause bedwetting for a time, it doesn't have to be sinister. But who knows what the SWs have planned for us. Really, I am sure in an area like
Ambridge there are bound to have been other little boy bed-wetters (often it is boys who carry on BW longer) and they weren't all being talked about or being abused. Maybe Susan or JD could have supportive word with Helen as Adam and Chris had so much disruption in their childhoods, why can't they have been BWs ... Yes, I think Helen is scared of Knob now. Her asking for his opinion might have been her humouring him, but he has unsettled her over stock now. Not necessarily planned that way by her. It IS a good SL. Star

RockingStones · 08/09/2015 20:46

I can't wait for Knob to start shagging Joseph's mother. He appears to have been monogamous for over a year now. With H avoiding him now, it's
only time till he strays. We little ladies should all know a 'man like him' needs to get his oats regularly.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 08/09/2015 21:48

"Brilliant dramatic irony since who wouldn't rather have Kenton's childish sulks and general incompetence than the nightmare which is being married to Knob."

As they often say on MN just because your current dp is not as horrific as the previous it does not make him a catch. Kenton is an enormous cocklodging man child.

DadDadDad · 08/09/2015 21:54

DadDadDad just seems to be constantly lurking and posts whenever his name is mentioned. Bit sinister if you ask me

Aaagh, the dilemma: if I post, then it will be because my name is mentioned; if I don't, then I'm clearly a lurker... what to do?

Oh, I appear to have posted. Grin

I know it would be a delicious moment to see Rob's downfall, but I worry that it's the one storyline that's really kept me interested over the years, and if it ends, will any of the other plots be sufficiently engaging?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 08/09/2015 21:56

Indeed daddaddad. Indeed. We will be left with competitive bird watching and seances.

enochroot · 08/09/2015 22:44

Another here torn between wanting Rob brought low and fearing boredom if it happens.

Did Pat make the first mention of home schooling this evening?

DadDadDad · 08/09/2015 22:50

What I'm intrigued by is what it is that makes Rob tick? I know it's just speculation and he's just the invention of a SW's mind, but what is going on in the mind of someone like this?

Does he know that he's cruel / cold to others in a way that most people aren't, but is lacking the empathy to let that bother him - a sort of sociopathic tendency?

Or is it more an arrogance that he genuinely believes he is a superior member of the human race, and he is being ever so clever playing the people in his life to conform to his wishes, and make the world serve his ends?

Is he carefully working out in his head an end-goal, and using each opportunity to advance his strategy? Or is it more unconscious, a learned way of behaving towards others that he is not fully aware he is doing, but just has no other way of dealing with the world?

DadDadDad · 08/09/2015 22:53

It's just occurred to me that they need to bring back that R4 prog "In the psychiatrist's chair" and put Rob on it. That would be fascinating.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 08/09/2015 23:01

Supposedly the latter dx3
Or is it more unconscious, a learned way of behaving towards others that he is not fully aware he is doing, but just has no other way of dealing with the world?

Mostly he reacts to situations e.g. the sab and the flood in ways that best suit him. But with an element of desperate need to control those near him and low self esteem.

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 08/09/2015 23:12

Just finished reading 'I let you go' by Clare Mackintosh

If you find the Helen/Rob storyline intriging - it's well worth a read

And I agree, not sure if I'll continue to listen when Rob has been used to feed the pigs discovered

I can't stand Pip & I just want Kenton to STFU and get over it!

EBearhug · 09/09/2015 00:37

Phoebe's going to totally fuck up her A-levels, isn't she?

(All the best of us do. Smile)

JessieMcJessie · 09/09/2015 07:58

I loved Pat " Doesn't everyone know what PPE stands for?"

With her mention of home schooling too, nice they are highlighting her lefty leanings a bit more at the moment.

RockNRollNerd · 09/09/2015 09:06

Joining the BOOPs for Pat and PPE Grin.

I still think (have a feeling I said it ages and ages ago, possibly when Rob and Jess were still together) that the denouement of all this will involve Jess in her capacity as a social worker. It adds a whole new angle as the ultimate involvement of SS will be hampered by Rob claiming it's evilpsychovindictiveJess ruining his happiness. That would suggest we may be some time off as presumably she's still on maternity leave. Henry starting school could ultimately bring about the end game if teachers become concerned about his home life...?

LillianGish · 09/09/2015 09:41

I definitely think Henry is going to be the one to let the cat out of the bag.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/09/2015 09:44

I wonder if Pat's brief comment that she would have loved to HE Helen and siblings might be significant later?

ppeatfruit · 09/09/2015 09:57

DylanNells The 2 posters you are missing may well have Name Changed due to the Hacking Debacle, there are a couple of mysterious posters on this thread that I think I recognise! But I may be wrong of course.

Come on NCers out yourselves Grin Grin

InimitableJeeves · 09/09/2015 10:05

I suspect Phoebe's going to get her place at Oxford, get brilliant A Levels, then decide that it's really Felpersham that she wants to go to after all.

ppeatfruit · 09/09/2015 10:13

I was listening while we were cooking last night it's amazing how much you can miss; I didn't hear Pat mention H.E. at all I'm going to have to L.A. Grin

mummytime · 09/09/2015 10:13

InimitableJeeves - maybe we should start a petition -" Let Phoebe go to Oxford and have a Career!"

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/09/2015 10:15

Ppeat don't know if you'll recognize me, but I'm NC...

GriefLeavesItsMark · 09/09/2015 10:38

Does anyone remember what has happened to Route B?

I remember Jenny getting all warrior woman and David doing his self important meeting chairing, then I remember being bitterly disappointed by David's unilateral about turn on moving up north, then Pipsqueak doing the same (message, if it seems to good to be try, it probably is), but can't remember if route B has been resolved.

GriefLeavesItsMark · 09/09/2015 10:39

Too good to be true - damn you auto correct, damn you.

R4 · 09/09/2015 10:47

IIRC there was some report which said that Route B wasn't a good idea. So SAVE naively said "Huzzah! It's in the bag." Because politicians never disregard advice, do they. And developers never take things to umpteen appeals either.Hmm
It's still up in the air. I think. Or not. Maybe.
One of those.

ppeatfruit · 09/09/2015 10:52

Not unless you're from a weight loss P.M. thread Seek !! Not this particular one Grin You're very welcome if you're a newbie Grin Obviously if you're an oldie too. Grin

BlackeyedSusan · 09/09/2015 11:42

flood report, taking into account the floodig in ambridge, means that the decision onthe route of the by-pass is still on hold.

perhaps rob's blocking of the culvert will mean route b does not get built.

As to the culvert, I sort of imagine it running diagonally down hill to take water downstream past the village, insted the bank over-topped and flood water ran straight down into the village.
