Wishful thinking. I think she's in it for the long haul Sad

OP posts:

Yes BlackeyedSusan I remember that now about the report.

InimitableJeeves · 09/09/2015 11:58

Have Justin's ambitions to move into the area and become Lord of the Manor gone up in smoke?

ppeatfruit · 09/09/2015 12:37

That weird R4 I didn't see your post before I replied to Susan's Yes that was what I thought too, The locals seem to have forgotten about it quickly too.

ppeatfruit · 09/09/2015 12:38

Sorry R4 I meant 'that's weird' not what I posted Grin

R4 · 09/09/2015 12:58

The confusion is catching!Wink
I don't mind the Route B story being kicked into the long grass every now and then. That's what happens with RL planning decisions, they take forever.
It's the same with the HellRob situation - it's when TA take the long view that they do the best stories.

Minimammoth · 09/09/2015 17:41

I def want Robs comeuppance ( Yorkshire Karma). I want Helen to stop believing that she is fragile. I think we are heading for a court case.

SladeGreen · 09/09/2015 19:19

Yeah Ruth, you tell him!! Shakes Pom Poms Grin

R4 · 09/09/2015 19:49

Ha! I was shouting at Ruth the radio.
If you don't want to feel left out of Brookfield then try being there a bit more. What the heck is she doing in Prudhoe? For months. on. end.
David asked what was wrong and she didn't say. She had her chance and didn't communicate. Then moans cos no-one is keeping her up to date. pot/kettle
I don't know why she expects David to feel so soppy about her mam. Ruth's hardly soppy about Jill, is she.

I stand by my comments on the eww relationship between David and Pip.

EBearhug · 09/09/2015 20:37

They talked about the cow tracks about a million years ago, and I'm sure Ruth was there then, even if she missed out on the rest.

BYOSnowman · 09/09/2015 20:38

Hello - back after a while and here are my thoughts!

Brookfield - what is it with all the unbelievable will they/won't they stories? We all knew they wouldn't move and we all knew Pip wouldn't stick the job (although I expected more than 24 hours). And now we have Heather looking forward to moving down when it was her reluctance to leave Prudhoe that started the whole damn debacle. And I'm not finding David true to character. And can we shoot Pip yet?

Lower Loxley - So Lily is actually 5, drawing pictures for Granny FGS. Freddie went from potential hooligan to a very good boy in the space of one episode. I always thought LL was a large manor house of the 'struggling to get by' variety but it seems to be an enormous country pile to rival Blenheim Palace - I'm starting to understand why Nigel's scream was so long

The Village - so all the village amenities are under threat - sledgehammer to crack a nut anyone?

Kenton - annoying

Aldridges - I'm liking them at the moment but if they follow the usual BBC script of 'state school kid is good enough to get into Oxbridge but can't take the strain/realises local made up uni is so much better because she can be near famerlee' I may have to stop listening. My prediction is that she has a nervous breakdown.

Jenny - she seems to have forgotten Route B/Carol the murderer. I predict route b won't go ahead and will be quietly dropped as it was just a plot device to get the brookfield archers moving

Bridge Farm Archers - I don't like the way Tom and Pat have forgotten their Rob doubts so quickly. i also don't believe Pat at the moment - she would be on to Helen and her introversion. As for Rob - well he really is a knob. i predict this will reach its climax just in time for the Xmas ratings chase.

Culvert blocking - I understood that it didn't make the flood in the village worse but caused one of the main roads into Ambridge to flood and delay the emergency services.

BertrandRussell · 09/09/2015 21:26

Bloody hell, Ruth! Talk about having your cake and eating it!

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/09/2015 21:38

I missed the transition from 'here's me dad's watch' to shouting... How did that work? Cos Jill had already let slip that there'd been another unilateral decision to give more money to Kenton than the others when she gave him the watch, hadn't she?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 09/09/2015 21:42

Generally not team Ruth but I don't think clearing your mums house and facing her dying years is exactly like cakeGrin unless you hate cake.

She has a point. And tbf she is allowed to be a bit emotional. And this is coming on the back of David's massive unilateral u turn.

All David had to do was say sorry. We didn't want to bother you with trivial stuff when you had so much on your plate.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 09/09/2015 21:44

They talked about the cow tracks about a million years ago, and I'm sure Ruth was there then, even if she missed out on the rest.
This was new additional cow track suggested by peep quite recently. She drew a plan and everyfink. And Deevid went oooh Peep you are a genius. Because she has a degree n all unlike David who knows nothing about farms as he is only a farmer.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/09/2015 21:45

I'm not Team David but I sure as hell am not on Team Ruth. What a whinger! I suppose it's too much to hope that that sinkhole will finally open up on Lakey Hill at just the moment Ruth is sullenly wandering past and she will disappear into it, never to be seen again? We could have one last 'Oh nooooooooooooooooooo' for old time's sake as she disappears towards the earth's core.

BYOSnowman · 09/09/2015 21:47

maybe the sinkhole is disgruntled at being ignored for so long and will move up to prudhoe - under HP's house...

EBearhug · 09/09/2015 21:48

This was new additional cow track suggested by peep quite recently.

Ah. Well, clearly Ruth's problem is that she tunes out at all these new ideas like the rest of us I do.

I've been through the clearing your childhood home lark. It's very stressful, especially on your own. Surely Ruth could find some childhood friend to go through a couple of cupboards with her or something?

BYOSnowman · 09/09/2015 21:57

I think Ruth has started switching the radio off at 7.03pm because she can't bear hearing Kenton whinge and David has taken it for granted she's heard every word

RockingStones · 09/09/2015 22:34

Smile @ BYOS. And welcome back. I'm in neither team but never minded either Ruth or David in the past. I think David could be a bit more sensitive to Ruth. Only child friends IRL have told me how hard this is, even with a cousin in tow. Ruth appears to have none of those either. She only ever had one friend outside of the village and she might have been imaginary - the friend she used as cover the night she didn't run off into Sam's arms in Oxford.

PlayingSolitaire · 09/09/2015 22:37

I found David and Pip very creepy in today's episode. I almost thought they were about to start kissing if Ruth hadn't been waiting for them [sick]. It's kind of playing out like the start of an affair. Ewwwwww.

Gruach · 09/09/2015 23:29

Pip and David were reminiscent of some old black and white film where the newly weds, after a blissful day working on their brand new smallholding, race home to more conjugal bliss, only to find her not particularly well loved mother waiting in kitchen.

Who is writing this dreadful stuff and why can nobody involved see just how off it sounds?

NotdeadyetBOING · 09/09/2015 23:31

Totally agree about David and Pip tonight. Flirty giggling - really out of control. Thought they were about to snog as they sheltered from the rain. Just. Horrid.

And felt for Ruth. Think David is being quite tool-like in his insensitivity??.

Gruach · 09/09/2015 23:35

(It could equally have been his mother of course. Either one.)

SladeGreen · 10/09/2015 03:05

I have to admit, I felt a bit uncomfortable listening to David and Pip...It was just WEIRD.

LyndaNotLinda · 10/09/2015 05:32

Glad it's not just me who thought the david/pip dynamic sounded weirdly off tonight. I think it's perfectly possible to demonstrate how Ruth might be feeling out of the loop with making it sound like incipient incest :(
