Wishful thinking. I think she's in it for the long haul Sad

I think the whole bed wetting thing isn't meant to be Important, but was just to show that Helen was avoiding being in bed with Rob.

I like that the Archers has suddenly become subtle and no longer has to state the obvious all the time. Like David being off with Ruth- we are allowed to think why this was rather than hearing him tell Adam or whoever that he is upset because xyz.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 08/09/2015 12:36

'Now, Henry, stop wetting the bed!'
'OWWITE!'

ppeatfruit · 08/09/2015 13:00

Yes true Lilian and PlayingSolitaire

OWWITE! Grin SeekEvery Grin Sad

PigletJohn used to drop in from time to time and ComposHat always used to make me larf, but haven't seen either for a while.

DadDadDad just seems to be constantly lurking and posts whenever his name is mentioned. Bit sinister if you ask me HmmGrin

vixsatis · 08/09/2015 13:43

Maybe Henry heard Rob raping his mother? Or heard her crying?

DylanNells · 08/09/2015 14:21

vix what a horrible thought Sad

BitOutOfPractice · 08/09/2015 14:31

Vix that's what I thought.

I also thought that the bed wetting was to show that Helen is avoiding being in bed with Knob. She sounded very relieved when Tom arrived to save her from him joining her for a "nap".

Then she was all wheedling and begging for his advice later. I am struggling to "get" Helen atm

InimitableJeeves · 08/09/2015 14:48

Knob will say that Henry is bedwetting because he is reacting against his mother giving time to the shop, and will generously offer to take over completely so that she doesn't have to worry her little head about it.

mummytime · 08/09/2015 14:58

Henry was out having a sleepover at his Grandparents, and not collected until the next day (one good thing the SW did was make this clear). Although he won't always be out if things happen in future.

enochroot · 08/09/2015 15:01

Knob was careful to send Henry to Pat'n'Tone rather than have him in the house while he had his evil way with Helen.

He might use the bed wetting as an opportunity to suggest Henry be sent away to school. 'Make a man of him and it didn't do me any harm, did it Darling?'

WipsGlitter · 08/09/2015 15:06

I think the bedwetting was both - summats up with Henry and Helen doesn't want to be in bed with Rob. She knew he was angry about that and the running off for the shop meeting hence pretending she wanted his opinion on the stock. He was so horrible about that making her beg for his esteemed opinion.

enochroot · 08/09/2015 15:10

X posted there.
I felt Helen had leapt on the excuse of a restless Henry to sneak out of bed and keep away from Rob. I was puzzled about her asking him to review the stocklist but she had a counter argument for each of his niggles so it may have been some sort of ploy on her part to test his reaction.
If I show him this will he shoot it all down in flames?
Hmm. Yes he did, so has he done this to me before.......?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 08/09/2015 15:13

Yes, I think the bedwetting will become a way to keep Helen at home as the Poor Little Chap is obviously struggling with Mummy being so busy and looking so tired. 3 years before he can reasonably be sent to board, so that one could take a while.

And yes, I think H asked his opinion out of a combination of trying to flatter his bruised ego from the conversation with Tom ('Well, I can see I'm not needed here!'), an increased sense that she can't make decisions alone, and also (from a SW POV) because Tom had just made a comment along the lines of, if there's one thing you do know about, Helen, it's how to stock a village shop! Just to show that there isn't one thing she does know any more.

vixsatis · 08/09/2015 15:19

Ah! I had forgotten that Henry was with Pat & Tony. Quite relieved.

squeaver · 08/09/2015 15:22

Hmm, I think it is all ambiguous. It will be interesting to see Tom's reaction (after that comment) if she goes back to him aying, "Rob says we have to stock the multipack fibre tablets". Maybe she wants to do that to see what Tom's reaction will be so she can then get him on her side? Or maybe she really is a surrendered wife?

While I'm here, I'd just like to say that I'm very much looking forward to hearing Neil's meeting with Charlie on Friday and seeing my prediction of J Elliott buying up the village come true....

RockNRollNerd · 08/09/2015 15:42

On a much much lighter note, did anyone else laugh at Lily drawing a picture for Jill to welcome her to the house, presumably because Jill's skills at interpreting mime aren't too good Grin

RobertTitchener · 08/09/2015 16:13

Lurking. Stalking. Tomayto. Tomarto.

squeaver · 08/09/2015 17:21

RocknRoll - that was hilarious. Also, Lily's a bloody teenager, not 5!

Gruach · 08/09/2015 17:41

The drawing a picture for Granny was odd. Unless this is leading to Lily disappearing to observe common people at art school ...

PlayingSolitaire · 08/09/2015 17:47

Been thinking about Henry a bit more today.

I do hope it's not because Rob has been horrible to Henry out of Helen's (and our) earshot. Sad

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/09/2015 18:51

A child abuse storyline would be so painful it's just about the only thing I can imagine that could ever put me off TA. Sad

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/09/2015 19:04

Oh god, Higher Ed porn! Mwahahahahahhahaha! PPE at Oxford. In 30 years Phoebe will be PM or Chancellor of the Exchequer....

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 08/09/2015 19:15

Ok, either there is no Joseph, or else Joseph is going to be some kid from ten council estate which means rob says Henry has to go elsewhere, or be HE'd.

Stickerrocks · 08/09/2015 20:33

Please don't use Peggy's money to send Henry to boarding school, Helen.

Bea · 08/09/2015 20:39

There is a Joseph and Rob will show even more of his evil side and grab the urchin by the collar at home time and whisper threatening horribleness to him.. To which listeners will Boo and gasp and Helen will simper her love and gratitude to rob to demonstrate to all and sunder that she is truly well within his clutches and we are all doomed to listen to this never ending storyline with no end in sight!! Boo!! Rob needs to get his come uppance!!
