Wishful thinking. I think she's in it for the long haul Sad

OP posts:
Gruach · 06/09/2015 13:08

Paul?

Do not get me started on that subject. I have ranted to the point of apoplexy about the incredible waste of resources.

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2015 13:48

The point was possibly to show that Lil likes a bit of the other has as much character as Matt (ducks flames for mentioning the M word) Grin

RobertTitchener · 06/09/2015 15:27

So. Lilian can access easy capital and likes a bit of the other? Hmmmm. (Strokes imaginary beard)

redshoeblueshoe · 06/09/2015 16:30

Helenluvs where are you ?

You need to cut off Robs wifi heaven knows what ideas he'll come up with next

Lillian OMG

toldmywrath · 06/09/2015 18:38

A very delayed thanks for the new thread Pseudo I'm late to the party & glad that I read this. I must've been so distracted today as I heard nothing about Kathy & just about caught the Helen & Johnny convo. I'm going to listen again I think (bit fast forward the Pip bits)

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/09/2015 19:11

Filler episode tonight, but I'm enjoying it!

Gruach · 06/09/2015 19:20

Hmm . Can whoever's going to Hampton Ct ask SOC if Ruth is being written out? His hint about Pip being the future of the farm felt rather pointed tonight.

And all that lugging of the writing table definitely means we'll hear them lugging it back pretty soon.

R4 · 06/09/2015 20:58

What was that about "HP's looking forward to coming to Brookfield". Is this the same woman who refused to budge last year and created the mahoosive non-story of the First Family going oop north.
Pah!

Have we castigated them enough about the Pip non-story, too? These stories that no-one believed in a million years are getting tiresome.

choccyp1g · 06/09/2015 21:51

So where is Pip going to sleep? In the room that Jill could not fit into?

enochroot · 06/09/2015 22:06

If Pip's staying does that mean that the WI series Daisy Badger was in isn't going to a second series?

LillianGish · 06/09/2015 22:14

Gruach I had exactly the same feeling listening tonight. Ruth just seems a bit surplus to requirements - it really feels like she's being written out. Can't imagine HP actually being at Brookfield and Ruth being stuck at home looking after her. It's another Brookfield story that just feels like it's not going to happen.

Maybe some real-life farming types can help me out here. It always bugs the hell out of me that in TA they never seem to talk about salaries in farming families. E.g. Tom buggers off to Canada, Pat'n'Tony sell his pig business, then he comes back (with a personality transplant) and happily slots back into working on their farm. But can they afford to pay him a salary? They are presumably also paying Johnny? They semi-retire and hand over the managing of the farm to Tom and Helen - do they get a pay rise?? This is always just glossed over. The same with Pip - when she was working for D & R after uni, did they pay her a salary? All this fuss about how them having to sack the agency guy means she's cost them 2.5k - but why doesn't she just forego her month's salary in return? Or is she working for free? When D & R were deciding whether to employ the agency guy in the first place, they never even mentioned whether they could afford to pay another salary! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!
And don't get me started on how much money David would have lost from the aborted move oop north, and yet is seemingly rolling in it.

SladeGreen · 06/09/2015 22:33

enochroot - not necessarily, because apparently TA recordings only happen once a month. A lot of the other actors have full time roles, such as the actress who plays Susan (Psychologist), and Ruth (BBC journalist). Smile

R4 · 06/09/2015 22:42

Ruth has made herself surplus to requirements because she is spending so much time at Prudhoe. Brookfield life is carrying on without her (and Pip is being the stand-in life-companion. eew eew it's just so wrong. make it stop)

BertrandRussell · 06/09/2015 22:53

"Ruth has made herself surplus to requirements because she is spending so much time at Prudhoe. Brookfield life is carrying on without her (and Pip is being the stand-in life-companion. eew eew it's just so wrong. make it stop)"

No she's not- she's being a partner in running the farm! And an adult member of the family.

EBearhug · 06/09/2015 23:13

How come no one mentioned Elizabeth's heart while she was lugging all that heavy furniture around (well, one piece of heavy furniture)?

Bea · 06/09/2015 23:39

What was all that giggling about Joe's tomatoes?? Am I missing something.?

elephantoverthehill · 07/09/2015 00:31

Bea Thank you. I didn't understand that either. I thought I had missed something.

Bea · 07/09/2015 00:38

I felt like I'd missed a crucial minute somewhere... Where Joe had secretly created a poo tasting tomato!!
Someone please enlighten elephant and I!!
What was the joke?????

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/09/2015 07:11

I suspect the tomatoes thing is another strand that will make sense in the omnibus because it's going to be explained tonight or tomorrow, but I agree, it was baffling last night.

Another actor with a day job - 'Robert' was a GP (I think he's retired now). 'Kathy' used to run Archers Addicts - is that still going?

R4 · 07/09/2015 08:43

I missed the Joe/tomato thing too. Perhaps it will become clear as his birthday approaches.Confused

EBearhug · 07/09/2015 09:11

Me too. I was wondering if the single half episode I've missed in the last year or so was what would have explained it, but obviously it's not just me.

ppeatfruit · 07/09/2015 11:39

Boop for Clarrie taking the piss out of "sour puss" Susan and defending Bridge Farm shop.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/09/2015 12:02

I loved clarrie and Susan last night. Proper archers that was

ppeatfruit · 07/09/2015 13:06

No sooner does BOOP get mentioned, she appears ! Agree.
