I don't remember that bf's name Olivia and the events are hazy because they had Amy stalk some man in AmEx as well so I'm confused.

It was the usual thing of Helen planning their children's graduation and their own cosy retirement while the bf just wanted a no strings shag. So her intensity wore quite thin after a very few hours ... Was cringey.

I remember Amy stalking the married man in AmEx!
I do MISS AmEx. (I know. I"m a loser)

Leon does ring a bell. I keep buying Archers books but they're not as good as I want them to be.

Arf! Fancy that - Helen being cringey Grin
I wanted Helen to have made Rob a big old salmon that he could have thrown on the floor a la Jess and the cringey catering at the party.

I think you've found the next MN literary project Olivia.Star

If MNHQ can offer us an agent we could collectively write one for you.

Look at this lovely upcycled wedding feature Fallon could have made for Helen if she'd only stuck with LL.

What a shame she missed out Confused

Can it double as a PortaLoo ?

I am just heading home after a long vacation overseas. Can't wait to catch up with the Omnibus this coming Sunday. This forum has kept me intrigued.

Hellon is overly intense and totally self absorbed. But the dowry thing gives me the boak.
Charlie also commented on her looking well. So is she thinner? Fatter? Or pregnant? Cannot imagine it is the former. So either she has started eating or she is preg or both.

What was Rob's sniggering supposed to signify when he said the papers were in the filing cabinet?

Trying to make Charlie feel silly for asking?
Or maybe that embarrassed thing some people not me, oh no do when they're in trouble?

Travelledtheworld · 11/08/2015 16:55

I think Rob was being a little sarcastic to show he was tidy and organised and everything was in its proper place, what did Charlie expect ?

WTF was Helen thinking of with the " cookies" anyway ? It must have been pretty obvious that Charlie and Rob were in a serious meeting.

I am beginning to warm to Charlie the poor lad. Frustrated in love and no one to bake for him [ Hoiks bosom and goes off to bake him some biscuits]

I thought the latter. He was wriggling like a worm on a hook. Part of the way he comes across with Charlie is also because of his homophobic disrespect for him, I think.

When did Peggy give Hellin the money, how much was it and how did I miss it?

Report
ErrolTheDragon · 11/08/2015 17:48

Peggy gave the money - specifically, a cheque for £10 grand made out to Mr and Mrs Titchener - pretty much as soon as she could have after hearing of their marriage.

How you missed it is down to your own negligence I'm afraid. Grin

I vaguely recall Hellin going through a desperately man-hungry phase a few years back trying (not very successfully) to hit on guys in clubs and didn,t she have a holiday in Ibiza or somewhere where she was off her face on booze the whole time and shagged anything that stood still long enough? Think she went with Kirsty who was not best pleased.

Scarydinosaurs · 11/08/2015 17:57

Oh Helen.

Am I the only one who likes her?

I found her story of how she overcame her eating disorder very comforting, as someone who has also been pregnant and struggling with restrictive urges, it was written very well.

But the case against:
Was horrendous to her family all the time she was pregnant with Henry (yes, Tony was unsupportive at first but then he tried really hard and she was foul to him)
Palmed Henry off lots of times, lying to Pat about jewellery lessons so she could go and shag the then-married Wob.
Is being a shit parent to Henry now, by deferring to Wob's intermittently authoritarian and unreasonable parenting style ('go to bed now!' 'Yes darling, off you go')
Betrayed Kirsty by keeping tom's intention to ditch her a secret.
Always talks to her parents as though they are simple (oh mu-hu-hu-hum, you are so silly of course I don't need my own bank account now that I belong to Rob!')
Talks about cheese too much and in an irritating way.
Patronises anybody working class ('your mum is so funny Emma!'; 'yes, thank you Susan, that's enough from you')

What a shame carol is back. Such an empathetic friend. Or not.

I prefer cake and coffee in the afternoon rather than before lunch.

If Ian thought it was such a joke offer why didn't he give his opinion more forcefully

Not sure anyone should take relationship advice from Helen.

How they will torture Bert.

Great. Carol is here to stay. And sounds like Hester will be moving in soon. Perfect. Just what I need to make me stop listening.

Helen is still glowing and 'full of life'. Ick.

And why does she deserve happiness?

God the sw is dire at the moment

EBearhug · 11/08/2015 19:17

Who's Hester? Must have tuned out.

Is Helen already pregnant? If not, how long will it take Rob to wear her down?

I hate Helen. Hate, hate, HATE her. She deserves everything she has coming. "Ooh, haven't I the perfect relationship, every couple should be like Mr Titchycock and me". Bleurgh! Did last night's episode just go in one ear and out the other?

Report
Gruach · 11/08/2015 19:32

I couldn't hate someone who has to apologise for phoning a friend ...

I'm going to predict that she does become pregnant - and decides she would rather not be.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/08/2015 19:36

The CA is clearly no fan of Mr T, but not sure which of them (or both) he wanted to throw an object at.

Carol's comments to Helen about how her house would soon be full of Henry's schoolmates .... bet it won't be. Rob knows the kid needs friends but plans on a younger sibling instead.

Still, at least Helen is still holding her ground on that one for the moment - so long as her much-commented upon 'radiance' is just due to her nuptial bliss.
