Has anyone mentioned that now Rob is unemployed, any maintenance he has been secretly paying to Jess for Ethan will obviously be reduced. Another 'victory' in Rob's mind no doubt. Also, I'm guessing that if the maintenance was deducted from his salary by his employer, then Charlie would be aware - another reason for Rob to hate Charlie.

squeaver · 24/08/2015 14:45

Charlie did know. Before the negative paternity test, the Child Support people were in touch and they had a very awkward conversation about it.

But surely the Jess/Ethan story is over now? I can't imagine how they could come back from the negative test and the conversation we heard between Jess and Rob when she admitted she's had a one night stand.

Icimoi · 24/08/2015 14:46

I assume maintenance for Ethan stopped as soon as the DNA results came out.

Icimoi · 24/08/2015 14:47

Has anyone actually asked Lizzie or Shula whether it's OK for Jill to descend on them? Obviously they're highly unlikely to say no, but you'd think good manners alone would demand it.

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2015 14:53

And how will Lizzie and Shula feel about Ruth booting Jill out?

choccyp1g · 24/08/2015 15:05

My theory on the paternity test is that Jess was the one who faked it. She knows Rob is the father, but took in a random friend's baby for the test, presumably after deciding that the pathetic £ from Rob would not be worth being connected to him in the future.

choccyp1g · 24/08/2015 15:09

Wouldn't it make more sense to have one scriptwriter per SL rather than a week at a time ( and not allowing them to know what the others are planning).
At the moment the Archers is like the one word at a time stories they do on sorry I haven't a clue.

redshoeblueshoe · 24/08/2015 15:34

choccy - that's so true, except on I'm sorry its actually funny. TA is more like adults who haven't a clue Did the SW's think - well Pip is going no where so she can't give up her room - whilst still claiming she's leaving Grrr

Lordy! It was so lonely listening without being able to post.

Anyway.

Forget what I said.

Pip can't have Toby.

After last night's speech I may have to marry him myself.

(Is it okay if I give everyone a teeny little group hug?)

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/08/2015 13:08

I have discovered that Gransnet has a TA thread. I was on the verge of registering over there but they don't have BOOP points.

squeaver · 25/08/2015 13:52

Sorry, Gruach, he's a twat. This is the first we've heard from him about his so-called credentials as an eco-farmer and he's only saying it to get into Pip's pants.

And how on earth would their titchy little flock of geese support him, his brother AND Pip??

I hate the way they're building up to Pip not going. She's right, her mum and dad aren't going anywhere in the foreseeable future. Why the hell shouldn't she take a job that will give her good experience, a good salary and the chance to travel.

Oh, because no woman is allowed to have a career outside Ambridge, is she?

Gruach · 25/08/2015 14:02
Grin

Yeah - I admit he's only using the geese as a gateway to global dominion. Via Brookfield.

And perhaps I might find it trying to be married to someone whose voice I don't particularly like.

But I suspect Pip will be mightily impressed.

squeaver · 25/08/2015 14:07

Also, he was annoying my beloved Charlie. And I will not stand for that!

Gruach · 25/08/2015 14:12

Oh - had almost forgotten how excited I was by the SWs deciding to use my point about how Josh will take over the farm if Pip leaves.

If they took more of my SL advice things would be a lot better ...

Icimoi · 25/08/2015 14:41

Perhaps they've suddenly introduced the Lazy Josh motif to give another excuse for Pip to stay? I will be Seriously Annoyed if so.

Icimoi · 25/08/2015 14:42

Now, if TA were really up to the minute, the Ruth actress would at this moment be recording an insert about how pissed off she is not being able to get MN's advice on the HP situation.

Gruach · 25/08/2015 14:47

I'm hoping it was an ill considered slip up rather than a new angle.

Maybe he was just feeling lazy immediately after exams - because Mr Trouble Gruach was right; Josh is impressively ambitious.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 25/08/2015 14:57

So

  1. the sw did nother to mention everyone who is at Bfield J and B sharing, Pip 'crammed in a corner', Bert and Jill.

2/ Jill has to move rooms because HP needs her room specifially.

3/ pip is going. Bert will go eventually.

So either the SWs are going to

A/ suddenly 'solve' the problem. Jill stays hurrah. Aren't SW clever. Poor daft listeners suddenly so relieved to hear a solution they (nor Jill, Carol, the dopeys) could not imagine.

B/ the SWs carry on with the contrived oustung for some other plit and hope the listeners don't notice it makrs as much sense as Prudhoe.

C/ HP dies but irreparable damage is done to rs with Jill. She allies with Kenton. They stage a coup.

mollie123 · 25/08/2015 15:03

bore - you ventured onto the dark side (gransnet) to their Archers Addicts thread which seems to move in slo-mo unlike the ones here on Mumsnet
have to confess I used to be a member of gnet but found the atmosphere too abrasive Shock for happy posting - so now I lurk here where all is 'sweetness and light' Smile
re Josh - I always thought that Brookfield will have to be divided amongst Pip, Josh and Ben as it was divided for David, Kenton, Shula and Elizabeth
does this not mean that the slices will get smaller and smaller and which aged relatives will get to live in Brokfield in 30 years time ?

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/08/2015 15:09

Abrasive on Gransnet? Shock I missed that

Bet it was nothing compared to the almighty, knock-down fistfights that were a regular feature of the late, lamented BBC boards though. God I used to love the fighty threads (loved reading them, not joining in with the fighting)

mollie123 · 25/08/2015 15:17

bore - did you lurk on the politics threads? - scary Shock
Archers addicts is lumped in with TV/radio shows it keeps disappearing off the 'active threads' and the posters do not keep up with the fast moving in depth storylines on TA Grin

Gruach · 25/08/2015 15:18

Not if they don't sell up mollie.

(Apologies for repetition if you were on the thread where we talked about it previously.)

Brookside is entirely in the hands of David and Ruth and they can pass it on to any or all of their children - with nothing going to K, S or E. Given the problem that Phil's Will has caused it's likely that David and Ruth would be more hard headed anyway.

Wouldn't worry about 30 years time - there'll be a Dignitas on Borchester High Street (or the remote equivalent compulsorily on every Archer in law's Apple implant).

Stickerrocks · 25/08/2015 15:25

Pip is going to have a huge wobble this evening & stay put. Sewing the seeds of doubt started last night and the Pip/Toby/Rex love triangle hasn't reached its peak yet.
