Chocolate Chip cookie anyone?

Rob was dripping with smug arrogance at the start of the episode, and a flailing mess by the end. And who gets the brunt of his anger? Poor Helen. Poor Henry.

Drunk at home and first act of violence towards Helen?

EBearhug · 23/08/2015 23:04

I thought that about the crying, Boing. My first impression was that she was laughing. Most odd.

I've known someone cry like that.

BertrandRussell · 23/08/2015 23:06

I think she was trying desperately to hold it together, then Carol was kind and thAt was too much for her.

BertrandRussell · 23/08/2015 23:08

I am just gobsmacked that they are chucking Jill out like that- it's completely outrageous. Surely they wouldn't do that in real life??????

mollie123 · 24/08/2015 07:05

in RL they would not evict Jill as it was originally their idea to have her there 'as a skivvy' Smile and to stop her being lonely
if my family treated me like that I would be hurt and angry particularly as the grandchildren liked having gran there and I am not granny heather will fit in (in spite of Ruth's assurance they will 'love it' ) being on a farm, and needing care from her own daughter.
yes - overinvested but I like the Jill character - she is there when needed and helpts out in spite of her advanced years.

mollie123 · 24/08/2015 07:06

not convinced granny heather will fit in Hmm

ppeatfruit · 24/08/2015 07:24

R4 Even I didn't think that (and I've got a dirty mind Grin). HP isn't up to much at all, let alone a flirtatious relationship with Bert!

Nope I've never thought Pip and Dave's relationship is weird.

I hadn't thought about Debbie's and Brian's but yes there was an over reaction about the affair.

Helenluvsrob · 24/08/2015 08:04

Gosh, my lovely rob was a bit wound up after cricket. I'd better go warm his slippers and work harder to make him happy. I'm not sure why he didn't want to go to the pub, I didn't hear anything said by the darrington team.......or did I?

ppeatfruit · 24/08/2015 08:56

Yes Helen and how about making him acting director of Bridge Farm and shop while you're about it? Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/08/2015 10:11

Helen, you must be delighted that Rob can stand in for when the interior designer comes to visit. After all, he's an expert in that area, isn't he? Far more than you, with all your years of retail experience, because let's face it, men are just so much more clear-headed and practical than women! Grin

Icimoi · 24/08/2015 10:37

I did think it was quite funny when Rob was (literally) caught out by doing precisely what Charlie warned him not to do, and I bet the Darrington team were laughing their socks off. And although he would never acknowledge that consciously, his subconscious definitely knows it and that's why he's in such a foul mood. Time for Helen to start showing mysterious bruises?

Helenluvsrob · 24/08/2015 10:44

Icimoi

It's funny you should say than, I must have walked into a door.....

But Rob is so kind to me and Henry y'know, I think I just need to be a bit more careful , I can be such a klutz and he did so well at cricket, or course he wouldn't want me to go to the pub for a drink with the team. I need to remember that he doesn't like me talking to men as he thinks I'm soo special he wants me to himself.

And I must get Henry to tidy the lego up better so he doesn't upset Daddy again...

ppeatfruit · 24/08/2015 11:00

Loved Susan claiming Pat's' treachery', has she forgotten that she's her employer? I reckon that Pat and Tone and family are in for a bit of misery. Oh dear Sad

EBearhug · 24/08/2015 11:46

She shouldn't have forgotten Pat's her employer, because Pat was pointing it out, that more sales of Bridge Farm products would be better for everyone involved, including those working in the dairy.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 24/08/2015 11:57

--they could put Jill in the dovecot-'

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 24/08/2015 11:58

^ strike out fail

stilllearnin · 24/08/2015 13:35

Sorry having to LA. Has anyone mentioned Pat's little exclamation when Henry called R 'daddy' (or did I imagine it - which is also possible!)

BitOutOfPractice · 24/08/2015 13:44

The whole thing about Jill having to move out when quite clearly there will be an empty bedroom when Pip goes is just so bloody annoying. Such poor story lining when every single listener is screaming the obvious solution at the radio. Really reslly lazy story plotting

Big UnBOOP from BOOP

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2015 13:50

The Jill moving out thing is so bizarre the only plausible explanation is Ruth being a vindictive cow.

And that will bite her in the bum because looking after her mother is going to be a hundred times harder than she thinks it will be, and the family will have to do without their cook/ housekeeper. Carol mentioned a local care home last night, but "that's not what Ruth wants".

squeaver · 24/08/2015 13:56

No, stilllearnin, I thought I heard that too. I was expecting her to bring that up, rather than talking about why Knob quit his job - as good as that bit was.

So where is Jill going to go? Surely Glebe Cottage has more than one bedroom and she could just go back there with Carol. Who, by the way, is definitely going to be mixing up some "special tea" for HP as soon as she moves in.....

Also, we can add Jim to the Anti-Knob Alliance, can't we? After last year's Open Farm Sunday.

mummytime · 24/08/2015 14:05

I just had a thought: Shula and Alastair could end up having a proper row over Knob. Alastair praising him for his cricket, and wondering what the Darrington lot were doing to get him riled, and then Shula coming up with something about she knows what he's really like after that Hunt Sab.

squeaver · 24/08/2015 14:08

Yes! And Jim could overhear, and join in.

Gruach · 24/08/2015 14:12

It does seem daft. And earlier episodes suggested that it would just be a matter of rearranging who used which room.

Jill should be happier at LL where there are still teens to fuss over. But she'd be a bit out of the loop of village life, and not really needed domestically.

Hard to fathom what "they're" planning for Glebe Cottage. Just like the sinkhole and the culvert they offer the beginnings of a plot and then drop it. But it is somewhat undignified for poor Jill to be toting a little bag of cardigans and baking tins all round Ambridge when she has a home of her own.

This x 1000! This exactly why I have stopped listening, after over 30 years of listening twice a day, plus Sunday Sad.

Gruach · 24/08/2015 14:30

I wonder if Bert has told them yet that he's not "enjoying" being at Brookfield.

He and Jim seemed to be doing some tentative flirting a couple of days ago - are the SWs planning for these two to move in together once Jim's house is ready?

Poor Jazza has hardly been mentioned lately; is he still at Bridge Farm?

And, with everything still up in the air after the flood surely the Aldridges could have offered someone Debbie's cottage while they're displaced - I'm sure she wouldn't starve for lack of a few months' holiday rental income.

I fear the SWs are not making the best use of their 12 and a half minutes ...
