Dropped off my active convos as I've not been listening in the week but had the film on today.

I was dumbstruck by how much of a personality transplant Fallon seems to have had - a) with not knowing her own mind and simpering over PC Plot riding roughshod over everything she'd said but also b) bewailing turning 30 as if it's some kind of terrible curse and c) backing up Kenton in his ludicrous description of the Ambridge fete as the Elizabeth and David Benefit thing. She would just not snigger at that.

And isn't the Pip/Fairbrother threeway a bit too close to the Ed/Emmur/Willum storyline?

Oh God - Kate and her dilations! So unfair on poor Phoebe.

Yeah not sure about Alex but Kate's description of Feebs' birth was hilarious. It reminded me of our exdil going into details about gds' birth to her 10 yr. younger new bf. in a restaurant; his face was such a picture (Xdil is the only woman in the world who has given birth ).

I wonder whether Kate is going to be given the chance to remedy her bad mother/daughter/wife reputation by rescuing Phoebe from Alex at the party on Friday...?

Glad I'm not the only one who found Alex a bit on the creepy side.

The thing with Pip and David is that Ruth could be replaced in their conversations so easily. There doesn't seem to be any difference in the dynamic.

Meanwhile, I'm finding myself pondering the Fairbretheren finances. 100 goslings - how much money are they actually going to make on that? A few thousand quid at the most? For six months work. Are they being subbed by their parents or is it Rex's compo that's paying for it all?

ppeatfruit Nothing if you have a normal relationship. Final straw when you've had weeks of Dave snivelling at the thought of Pip leaving and her simpering after him like a love-sick pup! And yes, BYOS, it sounded like more than a cheek peck!

I don't think Alex sounded any more sinister than the average 17/18 yo who thinks he's on a promise! I hope he turns out to be nice, just so it's a contrast with Kate's disastrous love life!

It would be nice if phoebe had an 'ordinary' life! Perhaps it was poor acting but he sounded sinister to me. Like the popular boy dating the ugly duckling so they can use her (or her grandparents house). Although thy hae clearly been dating too long for that!

I find David simpers and snivels around pip too. He might not be actively stopping her but its only because she's so self absorbed that she hasn't fallen for the subtle emotional blackmail
