Won't someone please give Kenton a kick in the FA Cup Finals, and a link to Money Saving Expert?

Normally with new actors you get used to them but pip just gets more and more unbearable to listen to

Merse · 27/06/2015 16:32

Carol not growing on me either. She'd disappeared in a rather gratifying way, but seems to be back - boring for Britain about her stupid potions.

I fancy a bit of a Lower Loxley update. What has happened to the fragrant sexually insatiable Lizzie? And what of Frilly? Would have thought there must be plenty of opportunities for Lily to develop unsuitable crush on those Fairfax boys, for instance.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 27/06/2015 16:40

Yes agree about carol

ppeatfruit · 27/06/2015 17:11

I LIKE Carol she makes a change from the other more mundane characters (apart from Kate of course, but she's so selfish). Interesting that Roy has finally grown up is trying to shame her into behaving correctly, re. Feebs.

Odd reaction to being picked up and kissed by Toby, perhaps Peep hadn't heard about the debacle at Home Farm with the raddle. Grin

DoctorTwo · 27/06/2015 18:15

I'm sure NewPip was at the party and saw what happened but didn't twig that Kunta Kinte, sorry, Toby, had had his way with Kate. I reckon he's going to shag Pip and drop her and Rex will step in and she will accept him a she can be close to Tobes and he'll shag her behind his brothers back.

TopazRocks · 27/06/2015 20:05

I can't recall if Pip got called away after the phone call about her GM's mahoosive stroke before or after the raddle-throwing debacle. Can anyone help us out with that vital detail? I do remember her arriving with Rex and seeming a bit put out that Kate was with Toby. Or am I imagining that?

toldmywrath · 27/06/2015 20:10

Sorry ppeatfruit Blush -no I used infamy on facebook with a friend (& yes Kenneth Williams quote in a Carry On)

toldmywrath · 27/06/2015 20:21

campocaro apologies to you - I didn't see your explanation of infamy quote before replying to ppeat. Blush

Northernlurker · 27/06/2015 20:22

I thought the Tony and Pat look at what we've built thing was there as a contrast to Pip and the Fairbrother lads who have that all to do. Toby will clearly vamoose at some point leaving Pip and Rex to have many chummy conversations over hedges etc whilst she flights back and forward. Then in about 4 years time it'll be David's turn for a bit of an accident and Pip will realise she's ready to settle down in Ambridge, marry Rex (See P. Archer marries a Fairbrother again) and have some more little Archers. It'll all be fine as long as they don't hold the wedding at Grey Gables....

'Rex is going back in'
'No, no'
'REXXXXXXXXXXXXXX'

GypsyFloss · 27/06/2015 21:34

Does this all mean that Pip isn't going away? Oh arse.

which itself is a quarter or more of the whole farm once D's siblings have had their shares

Unless I've missed something (which is possible,) that's not how it will work. Phil left the farm, in its entirety, to David and Ruth. Unspecified, but presumably relatively small shares kick in for David's siblings only if the farm is sold. So David and Ruth can pass Brookfield on to their own children. And realistically it would make more sense to leave it to only one child ...

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 28/06/2015 08:29

Yes zero that's how I understand it.

So pip will get a third of a quarter only if she sells the farm. (Assuming David leaves the farm to his kids in the same way)

LillianGish · 28/06/2015 08:43

But if Pip goes away for years who's to say Josh won't step up to the mark? Perhaps Pip will go away and come back to find she's lost out as natural inheritor to her brother, setting us up for years of Archer sibling rivalry.
Flood report was tediously predictable. David's reaction - just read me the good bits - summed up my feelings about the entire storyline. In that vein I would say just bring back Stefan to drop Knob in it.

ZeroFunDame · 28/06/2015 08:50

AFAIK the exact proportions were never revealed but (recalling the original conversation they all had with Phil) I've never had the impression that the secondary shares would be anything like a quarter each. They were just supposed to be a token acknowledgment that the sibs had a stake in the farm.

Did I imagine it or did we collectively come to the conclusion that they might be about five hundred thousand each if the farm had been sold for five million?

ZeroFunDame · 28/06/2015 08:56

I must admit my mind started to wander when Jenny was detailing the flood reportGrin

Indeed, Pip has already seen how hungry Josh is for business success - though we don't seem to have heard about the hens for a while. But she'd be very unwise to take her eye off the ball.

Pipperoo Phil definitely left the farm to David and Ruth. It was a major story. The farm is theirs to pass on to their own offspring as they choose. What would be the point of all that endless work otherwise?

The intention is that the farm passes down the generations. There was a recent TA blog about the problem of farm inheritance - acknowledging just the point you raise. But David and Ruth aren't working to make the non farming siblings rich.

As far as I remember none of the others have any claim on current farm profits. That would make them active shareholders, obliging David and Ruth to consult them on every decision. Which isn't the case.

You can read about it here on the Archers website.

Icimoi · 28/06/2015 10:29

So do we take it that the new road storyline will quietly disappear? I suspect that the supposed alternatives won't ever materialise either.

LillianGish · 28/06/2015 12:53

Thanks for the link Zero. I had forgotten all the detail. If Pip goes abroad perhaps she will be the Kenton figure coming back to challenge Josh (or even Ben). It is a thorny subject - though in David and Ruth's case they were the obvious inheritors since none of the other siblings had anything to do with the running of the farm. What will happen to Bridge Farm I wonder after Tony little speech this week. Tom and Hellin's livelihoods are both tied up with the farm (despite Knob's best efforts - though no doubt he would be the first to protest if Pat and Tony left it to Tom on the basis that Hellin had stopped working).

minkGrundy · 28/06/2015 13:16

Carole rents Glebe from Jill.

Icimoi · 28/06/2015 13:51

Perhaps Pip will go off to the whizzy job, earn a fortune, return with any luck with a better actress and buy up another farm to keep the spread of farm properties in Archer hands.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 28/06/2015 15:42

Yes ici - here's hopi g daisy badgers tv career takes off

That's a good point about Kenton already having had his inheritance. He is very entitled isn't he!!

I totally see what Phil did - the way it is structured Brookfield will have to stay being farmed by the archers unless each generation wants to cash out for a decreasing share. He should have left it in trust and any descendant who wanted to farm could block a sale and take over with the existing farming family having priority

ppeatfruit · 28/06/2015 16:39

I don't think I dreamed that I heard one of them saying that half of what the farm is worth would be equally divided between Liz,Shul. and Kent. Should it be sold.

A pretty penny if it's worth 5 million.
